I really liked the book it made me think of situations that I never would of thought of, Im gonna make my way to an off shore oil rig when the shit goes down, but I had to take breaks from reading it. It's written like a manual and that gets tiring after a while if you continuously read it.

This book is awesome, and I keep it handy for when the dead rise (and they will rise). I am glad I read this to know not to wear my chain mail or drive a gas sucking suv. I now keep a Katana next to my bed, extra canned provisions, and an ax to destroy my stairwell so they can't get me.

The book was good, but I can't help thinking that the infection process wouldn't produce large numbers of zombies. Most of the people who got bitten would have also be eaten. That leaves you with small numbers of slow moving enemies who can't use tools. Threatening to campers, sure, but Shaun Of the Dead shows what happens when a modern military meets the undead.
Oh, and if you did get ravenous crowds of walking dead, I think a helicopter with hellfire missiles would handle that pretty well. Just saying.
