FN: Sci Fi Procedural

I was pleasantly surprised to find this book was basically a sci fi procedural. I can't remember if I've ever read such a thing (though I'm sure they exist), and it was quite a refreshing chance of pace from all the epic fantasy we keep getting ourselves into.

I'm only halfway through it but I was thinking John Grisham in Spaaaaaaaaaaaaace...! Please tell me we don't spend the rest of the book in the courtroom.
