It's a tragedy when people are injured or die in a natural disaster - a flood or tornado or tsunami. It's a tragedy when someone is struck by a debilitating or terminal illness. It's a tragedy when someone's life is destroyed by a drunk driver or suicide bomber or bank robber. Some kid falls 30 feet practicing parkour and is in critical condition; or three people climb over guard rails and ignore verbal warnings, then get swept over Yosemite Falls; sucks for the family but i'm not entirely convinced that this constitutes a tragedy, headlines notwithstanding.

True!
It is not a tragedy when you miss the 2 for 1 sale at Reynolds Optical, but it feels like it.
