Isaac, I just finished reading that one. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! :)I'm reading John Connolly's new novella. The Wanderer in Unknown Realms: A Novella. I like it so far, but it's very different from a Charlie Parker novel.
Currently doing another test reading, this time of a book of short stories called Fresh Cut

We think so much alike. :)

Yes, we do. :)

Thanks everyone--I just picked this one up, too.
I am finally starting Currency of Souls. I know that I don't have to read this one before reading Thirty Miles South, but my OCD won't let me read them out of order. My Shelfari group is reading The Great God Pan this week, which is a short one...so I'm hoping to read both of Kealan's novels this week. Whoohoo for me!
I'm surprised at how much of Saturday Night At Eddie's I remembered as soon as I started COS. To me, that's a sign of a great author. The character came right back to me like that! *snaps fingers*
I read Thirty Miles South first, Charlene, and it didn't have any negative impact on my enjoyment of Currency. If I had known about the connection, though, I would have gone in order, as well. Both are tremendous reads.

I'm with Charlene on this one--it drives me crazy to read books out of order, even when it "doesn't really matter".
Kealan wrote: "Thanks folks! A new Milestone story "The Palaver" was just released in the BARBERS & BEAUTIES anthology, alongside stories by Gary Braunbeck, Tim Lebbon, Lee Thomas, Roberta Lannes, Fran Friel, Lis..."Nice!
And I love the cover!
I know! I've been wanting to read it for a while now. BTW-I've been thinking of you and your family-sending warm thoughts and good vibes. Best I can do, since I'm not religious. :)

Kealan, I read both Currency of Souls and Thirty Miles South of Dry Country since last week.I truly did love them both and rated them both 5 stars.
Thanks so much for the great time I had reading them. :)
Charlene wrote: "Jason, there is a certain point in Kin that is amazing. I am eagerly awaiting your reaction. :)"Well, i got to the rebirth scene. That was pretty f&$ked up. And of course, I mean that in a good way. I'll definitely write a review...always do. Should be done tonight or tomorrow (working long hours these days)
Also, need a paperback book to bring on vacation with me next week. What do you guys suggest next?
Cancun... again. I made a promise to a friend, I gotta keep. I'll need a good book to keep me sane, or at least stop me from becoming more insane.

Jason, that was the one! I'm glad that you're enjoying it. :)If you haven't yet read Currency of Souls, I would recommend it highly. :)
Kealan wrote: "Just reviewed it on here, Charlene. I did enjoy it (mostly.) Gone South is a good one."
Charlene wrote: "Did you like HOL?
I just finished McCammon's Gone South. I loved it!
Don't work too hard, Kealan. :)"
Loved Gone South. What a quirky book for McCammon.
Kealan wrote: "And the beginning of his move away from horror."It was actually the last one of his books I read. I was not thrilled with his move away from horror. Since, I have had several people advise me to try his newer work. Just not sure if it's up my alley.
Agreed.Just finished GOAT DANCE by Douglas Clegg. Pretty good.
Also finished THE HOLE by William Meikle, which was fantastic!
Jon Recluse wrote: "Also just finished Joe Hart's OUTPOST. Loved it!"Joe Hart is exceptional. I can't find Clegg's Goat Dance. I've been trying to find it at local UBS's and thrift shop. No luck so far. I have a couple of his others though.
Kealan wrote: "THE FIVE is a masterpiece."I just read your review and the synopsis and it is definitely on my radar now. Thank you, good sir.
So some of you know ..i'm not a huge fan of king..mostly because I have never read anything of his that i loved...well i started the shining..I'm really really liking it :)
