What Are You Reading?
It sort of does suck, doesn't it? Had I paid full price I might complain. Since it was a great deal at 1.99, it's ok.I just wanted to give a head's up to other readers.

But the major names have been dropping the ball like amateurs.
Jon, I agree. I read very few big 6 books, but I do read some. I see more and more errors in them. Granted, I read more e-books than regular books, but still. The committment to quality should still be there-especially at a 16.00 or 17.00 price tag for an e-book.

To me, that's cheating, both literally and in spirit. It's a big middle finger waved in the customer's face. Which is pretty darn rude, and just nuts as a response to someone willing to actually give you money, which is not something people are normally willing to do.

I thought I had gotten one Hell of a lot more than just the finger, y'know?
Sheesh, that's bad.One of the things that really irritates me is repairmen, technicians, and other professionals who don't bother checking their work, which you often find out only after they're gone ... sometimes even while they're in the elevator going downstairs or walking out to their cars. The bungling is that shabby and easy to catch! As far as they're concerned, the customer isn't worth the effort of checking whether you've really provided any value or not. It's an amazing mentality, to have such low standards for yourself and care so little about your customers and your reputation. Yet it's fairly commonplace.
This sort of thing used to be rare. I held publishing companies in greater esteem back then. You could buy even the cheapest paperbacks sure that you'd be getting professional product. That publishers wouldn't even bother to check their work would never have occurred to me. Now the business seems to be losing all respect for itself and the customer both.
Wow! I have not ever experienced anything like entire parts of a book out of place or whole chunks of pages missing. Maybe I should shut up and stop complaining!
If anyone is interested, I wrote a little something. You can read it here:http://mistressofthedarkpath.wordpres...
Vote if you like, but please read all three entries before choosing. Thanks!

I did read all three and while the others are good, I loved your sick sense of humor the best. You definitely are a fan of Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett-it shows!
At the moment, you are ahead with 50% of the vote. You should put this link on the Amazon The Lounge and Horror Books thread so the other regulars can read and vote, too. Good luck!

If you ever want to see the other stories, let me know.
I'll post the links.
Oh yes, please! I didn't know you wrote! You can post here or send me them privately if you prefer. Thanks!

The August story is Stone Cold Kill.
The October story is Spirit of the Season.
The December story is The Forgotten.

Found them all and enjoyed them thoroughly. I love the names you give your characters (O'Weinstein comes to mind). The gargoyle was awesome, the pedophile got what he deserved and the Christmas presents were perfect. You need to post your stories for everyone to read here on Goodreads, too!

I agree with Kealan-I didn't know a thing about this and we've been talking for what, a year? Two years, now? Come on, brag a little; everyone else does! :)
I just posted that link in The Lounge on Amazon. Heh heh heh. You're gonna be famous! Or is that infamous???? ;)
Jon Recluse wrote: "I'm gonna be sick......"Ahhhh you'll thank me later when the accolades roll in....;)
I will definitely check those out, Recluse.Just finished Thirty Miles South Of Dry County and Seldom Seen in August over the weekend.
Alright. Between this thread containing the bombshell that Jon is writing and is letting people read his writing and the other thread where I'm apparently stowing away in a duffle bag in the trunk of Kealan's car...I'm overwhelmed. Mark it down, I'm speechless. : )
Duly noted.Being quiet will help get you past airport security in Ireland.
Them potato sniffing sheep are mean.....
Kealan I just wrapped up Kin... what a challenging read. I enjoyed it though and have posted a review... but those scenes... whoa... especially that rebirth scene... that one will be hard to top.
LOL, Ok!I haven't had a chance to read all of them yet but from what I've read so far...I'm impressed. : )
I have a recommendation. It's a new novella by Tim Curran called Puppet Graveyard. It features a guy and his dummy. He's a ventriloquist. This book FREAKED me out. I thought it was excellent.
That is all. : )

One thing, though, there were a lot of errors in this Kindle edition. The word 'die' seemed to be replaced with the word 'the' throughout the book. Also, Krespin was misspelled Krepsin throughout, except for one chapter where it was spelled properly.
It was a little irritating.
