Charmaine (empress_charla) | 114 comments Which website/book store do you usually like to buy Christian Historical fiction from? I usually get them from the library, but my library doesn't carry all the titles I want. :-( They are lacking in Julie Lessman, MaryLu Tyndall, Kaye Dacus, etc. so I have to buy the books somewhere! But I'm a college student who doesn't have a lot of money to spare XD so I need to find a book seller who has reasonable prices. I've gotten some books from paperbackswap, but I'm at the mercy of the people, having to wait for them to post the book that I want to read from my wish list. Suggestions anyone? :-)

Mary Connealy (goodreadscommac) | 6 comments Charmaine, if you don't mind waiting for older books, cbd.com has several of mine on super sale once in a while. Right now Cowboy Christmas costs $2.99. Just go to authors you like and skim down all their books to see what's on sale.

CBD is the best place to get them (FYI I have an affiliate link for them on ChristianHistoricalFiction.com )

- Or you can always ask me what I have in my trade pile...

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 114 comments Nice to hear that some of your books are on sale, Mary! :-) Thank you for letting me know.

Margaret, my family has bought from CBD in the past when I was younger, but we haven't bought from there recently. I need to become a returning customer of theirs. :-) What books do you have for trade? Are they listed here on GoodReads?

Tyndall

and some contemporary Kaye Dacus

Not linked to specific editions

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 114 comments I'd love Surrender the Dawn from your to-trade pile. :-)

I have:
Ekaterina Heirs of Anton (Book 1) by Susan K. Downs Marina Heirs of Anton (Book 3) by Susan K. Downs (not sure if those two Heir of Anton books are CHF)

Also have:
Surrender the Wind by Rita Gerlach The House in Grosvenor Square by Linore Rose Burkard Love Finds You in Last Chance, California by Miralee Ferrell

The entire Heirs of Anton series (some of my first CHF) is considered either CHF or the contemporary/CHF because it all has some elements of CHF in it (like Susan Meissner books). Some of them are fully CHF.

Last Chance California is on my wishlist, I'd love to trade that for a Surrender the Dawn copy.

Jennifer (texasaggieteacher) | 313 comments If you have a Lifeway near you, the bargain books are your friend. There is a massive sale on Bargain books right now. Buy three get on free. :D I work at one here, so that's how i know! lol

message 9: by Charmaine (new)

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 114 comments Margaret, I will e-mail you, thank you! I need to read Last Chance California before I give it to you - I hope you don't mind the wait? I'll try not to take long with the book, though. :-)

Thanks for the suggestion, Jennifer! I don't think there's a Lifeway near me, but I'll check it out. I know there's Berean Christian store and Family Christian book store not too far from where I live - I think I'll check out their bargain/sale sections. :-)

Diana | 27 comments You can download Kindle for free to your PC. They have books for free download. They have Christian Fiction!

message 11: by Charmaine (new)

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 114 comments Thanks, Diana, I did download the kindle app yesterday. :-) Do you know which Christian fiction books are available for free download? I got MaryLu Tyndall's Surrender the Heart for free. :-)

I have the same problem. My library has a service called Interlibrary Loan. You can fill out the page on your computer-being on Goodreads is great because you have all the info. which makes the book you want much easier to find. The service is free at my library. Some may charge a small fee.But what a great way to get more books when you are financially limited.

Diana | 27 comments There is one called The Outsider. It is about Shakers (which is a religous group that has long died away). But, it's clean. It's not the greatest book in the world, but it was ok. Check back everyday or so on Kindle because the freebies change.
