Mo (mobroon) | 729 comments I have just finished The Big Ben Mystery, Black Rock Prison volumes 1 and 2 (3 not out yet in English)and The Last Game All by Fernando Trujillo Sanz. All seriously weird but very good. I think I got the first for nothing and just happened to read it. I have not quite organised my reading since Christmas but will maybe happen upon something else hopefully as enjoyable. That is always a bonus.

I've read three Agatha Raisins in a row, but then they started to depress me.

Then I bought and read a Donna Fasano romance, Take Me, I'm Yours, which was light and enjoyable.

Now I've gone right to the beginning of my kindle list on manage my kindle and downloaded a few books that I'd bought in 2010 when my first got my kindle. Not sure what I fancy reading first, but they will help me with my 2013 reading challenge!

I bought them and read them in a couple of days, thoroughly enjoyed them. Loved the Tribble sisters, though I could have shaken Effie a few times...

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Just finished Anne Holt's excellent Blind Goddess - some well drawn characters.
Still slowly getting thru Barbara Kingsolver's The Lacuna, which I'm reading as a DTB unfortunately cos it was cheaper than kindle, but regretting it now cos the book is sooo thick (which is really annoying as the lines are one and a half spaced, so I reckon the book shd have been a third thinner!) - hope it will keep up the pace. I enjoyed her 'Poisonwood Bible' but thought that could easily have been edited down to two thirds without losing anything, there was a lot of repetition.

It's the first book I bought for my kindle, and that was over a year ago, so thought it apt that it was my last read of 2012. Tears and laughter while reading it.

message 4218: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I finished Monday Mornings by Sanjay Gupta by Sanjay Gupta yesterday morning. I really enjoyed this novel. It is actually very similar to ER. At times during reading this book, I did feel like I was reading an ER script just with different characters! The plot was interesting, gripping, well-developed and well-written. The medical lingo was easy to understand. The characters were interesting, vivid and well-developed. My only gripe about this novel was that I would have liked to learn more about what happened to the characters at the end of the novel.
My full review is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Now I'm a few chapters into What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty by Liane Moriarty. Great book so far!

i love the title but couldn't even tell you a single thing it's about (apart from a bloke called Nicholas!)

message 4223: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Oh it's about anything you can think of!!! I feel like I've been living in mid-nineteenth century England for the last few months whilst I've been reading it! (although being in Tollesbury is about the same!)

message 4224: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Is it ridiculously long? Long books petrify me!

message 4225: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments It was only when it seemed I'd been reading it forever on my Kindle I checked on the internet to see how many pages it actually was...847!!

Each chapter is about a bus ride from Tollesbury to where I work in Maldon so it was quite handy. Very much worth persevering with though but I'm not sure I'd have started it had I known how long it was - very happy I did though!

Currently reading The Great Rock N Roll Doomsday Tour by Darren H.

Stuart, I've read The Prohpet loads of times. Very though provoking. I read a bit from there at my Dad's funeral.

The advantage of kindles, you don't need to know how long your book is anymore!!

message 4235: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments I am reading Nicholas Nickleby too. But I'm treating it as a collection of short stories and dipping in and out. Yes, it will take forever, but it is very readable.
At Christmas up the BIL's house, he had a copy in his library. It didn't seem too thick, but when I opened it to work out what page I was on, I went "whoa, how small is that text" I couldn't find the button to make the font larger :)

I am reading Natural Deselection by P.A. Fenton. I found the first part rather slow. I didn't know where it was going. But Ignite said it was rather good, so I'm sticking with it.

message 4236: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I love his writing style Joo. It's the way he tells 'em! I thought the story was good too - it does move much faster as it progresses.

I read all of Dickens' novels over the six or seven years I spent commuting between East Croydon and Victoria. They were a set my great grandparents had bought, and gave me as I was always a bookworm. Very thin pages and tiny print! Luckily I've got most of them on kindle now, so a darn sight easier on the eyes.

I was intending to start into my TBR pile, but got distracted by the The Woman in White who's been sitting by my bed for months. It's a DTB unfortunately and the print is a bit small - will have to find a free download somewhere.

message 4243: by Kath (new)

Kath | 1233 comments finished Killing Cupid by Louise Voss another one i bought in 2011 to satisfy my "read what you have already bought before you buy any more" challenge.

also broke the rules and read Keeping Quiet The Autobiography by Paul Nixon which I had to buy cos it was in the 12DoK sale so it's kinda justifed... moreso cos it is a great read - if you like cricket, and biographies and have heard of him!

I'm bias cause I've known the author for years but I loved it

Traditions from the Heart

(it's a slash book)

message 4246: by [deleted user] (new)

I've been reading for my 2013 challenge too.

Read Dancing In The Moonlight and Invisible, both on my kindle for well over a year, but both were a bit naff.

Now I'm reading Deed to Death: A Novel which I bought in 2010 and is a much better read so far.

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments morning gang.
I've just this minute finished the new Ian Rankin novel, Standing in another man's grave.
I'm a big Rankin fan and this book was very good. For rebus fans it's like he's never been away. Malcolm Fox feels a bit shoehorned in and doesn't add much to the book but in terms of the plot it's classic Rebus.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12622 comments Just finished More Sweat, more blood and another cup of tea, and just about to start the first of my A-Z challenge, rather than go back to my first books I bought, I'm actually going to read a booki bought recently, Rachel Abbotts Only the Innocent, I'm really looking forward to it

message 4250: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just finished Darren H's Rock n Roll thingie - I think his story telling has matured but his writing style is still recognisably similar.

Started Fuel to the File by David Staniforth which doesn't seem to be here. I found it on the Amazon MOA threads. Not a bad story and a good writing style but sprinkled liberally with Indie errors.

Will be pre-publication reading for someone from tomorrow so I shan't get another read in the immediate future.
