I'll have to bump it up to next to be read,no cooking for me at the moment,we've got the builders in,so lots of uninterrupted reading.
I've just finished The Mutilation Machination by Shaun Jeffrey - I'm not really a fan of shorts, and bought it due to the cover!! Some were good, others I wasn't keen on. However, some could be developed into longer stories and I would definitely read them!! Not sure what to read next - at least the days of thinking 'cant start x cos I'm going away in a few days are gone!!' I really want to read Children of the Fog but think I might read a couple of shorts and leave that for the plane journey.

Where are you flying off to, Desley?
Jersey, weather forecast isn't good tho! For the warmest place in the British isles, i don't manage good weather! I started The Anthology of Murder by Lia Fairchild, quite enjoying it
Started The Aduramis Chronicles: Destiny of the Wulf yesterday. harrison Davies - one of 'our' lads. It's magical style fantasy with some good characters - can't tell more yet but it's my style of thing!
I finished the 3rd book in the Maeve Kerrigan series
by Jane Casey last night - I really enjoyed this novel and I can't wait till the next one! Jane Casey is becoming one of my favourite crime authors. This morning, I began reading
by Heather Gudenkauf.
I've read those Ellie, but lost girl is the 4th in the series, you should check out fantastic fiction to see which one you have missed.I made the mistake of reading the reckoning first.
I have given up on Graveminder at 65% as it really was so boring!Giving A Discovery of Witches a go next.
just finished the first 4 agatha raisin books that i think i got in a daily deal - not bad for a light read - and even better, i can get all the others as ebooks from my library so no further spend there if i want to carry on :)think i need a little substance next though...
Philip (sarah) wrote: "Finished Into the Darkest Corner not for the faint hearted, terrific thriller!Started Through Glass Eyes by Margaret Muir."
I loved 'Into the darkest corner'. It was horrible but brilliant too!
I found that about the Agatha Raisins too Kath. I enjoyed the first couple then it was basically the same thing re-hashed. I wanted real characters and plots. I only read three.
Wasn't it just Auntie Janet, the villian made my skin crawl. I loved the court transcripts at the beginning and end and also how the two time lines merged. Very original.
Philip (sarah) wrote: "Wasn't it just Auntie Janet, the villian made my skin crawl. I loved the court transcripts at the beginning and end and also how the two time lines merged. Very original."Although it was an extreme example of domestic violence, I thought the build up of control was very believable, as was the OCD. I thought the book was very well written.
Kath wrote: "just finished the first 4 agatha raisin books that i think i got in a daily deal - not bad for a light read - and even better, i can get all the others as ebooks from my library so no further spend..."Ah. I read one then couldn't imagine reading another. Struggled to finish the one I did read, to be honest...
I think the fact that the author was a crimes analyst must have helped.I agree re the OCD it was interesting to read how her symptoms developed as a direct result of the trauma she suffered.Don't you think her friends were easily led? Had she been my friend I would like to think I would have been more loyal.
Philip (sarah) wrote: "I think the fact that the author was a crimes analyst must have helped.I agree re the OCD it was interesting to read how her symptoms developed as a direct result of the trauma she suffered.Don't y..."I agree, but then some people are extremely charismatic and some easily flattered! They can't have been true friends.
Finished Through Glass Eyes by Margaret Muir. This was an nice change from Thrillers. An Historical Saga with just a touch of romance and a nasty, if somewhat predictible villian. Catherine Cookson(ish)!Started Hawk's Tor following Pat's recommendation.
Lorraine wrote: "Just finished The Kult.Just starting Killers."Thanks very much for reading them, Lorraine. And for the 4* rating for The Kult. Much appreciated.
Desley wrote: "I've just finished The Mutilation Machination by Shaun Jeffrey - I'm not really a fan of shorts, and bought it due to the cover!! Some were good, others I wasn't keen on. However, some could be dev..."Sorry they weren't all to your taste, Desley, but thanks for giving it a go.
M wrote: "Finished
a few days ago now starting on Shaun's
looking forward to it. :-)"I'm sure there's not much difference in them, Mel ;)
Lorraine wrote: "I've read those Ellie, but lost girl is the 4th in the series, you should check out fantastic fiction to see which one you have missed.I made the mistake of reading the reckoning first."No, I was right, it's the third one. Jane Casey has only written 4 novels (and I've read them all). Her first novel, The Missing, was a standalone novel - not part of the Maeve Kerrigan series at all.
Rceently finished The Dance Of The Voodoo Handbag and started Nights at the Circus in paperback and Into The Silence on t'Kindle.
just started We Are The Hanged Man a gritty police procedural by the same guy did the Barney Thompson The Long Midnight Of Barney Thomson books, just out and at a discounted intro price...much more to get my teeth into than dear old Agatha - but i think she will still have a place when i need something cosy and nobrainer...
Just read Inside My Shorts: 30 Quickies by Adam Sifre. Funny, horrid, charismatic little stories. Very good!
Desley wrote: "I've just finished The Mutilation Machination by Shaun Jeffrey - I'm not really a fan of shorts, and bought it due to the cover!! Some were good, others I wasn't keen on. However, some could be dev..."Desley, can I suggest Shaun's

The best collection of short stories I've read in ages. I'm still haunted by some them and I read it months ago.
Finished Hawkes Tor by E.V.Thomson. Great story set in Cornwall during Victorian times.Still deciding what to start next but meanwhile have bought the book Kath mentioned above:@)
I'm just catching up with this thread - haven't visited any forums much lately, though I do still lurk here a little to check the freebie thread.
After finishing Strictly Murder the other week, I haven't read anything properly, just dipped in and out of things, or been studying crochet patterns! I was starting to go a bit made last night so decided I needed a break so started an Agatha Raisin book last night (was amused to read the unenthusiastic views here). I've been reading them one or two at a time with long breaks inbetween. I enjoy them that way. I'm reading Agatha Raisin and the Murderous Marriage and am almost half way through already - I'd forgotten how short they were. It's just right as a light hearted read to stop my mind constantly going over crochet patterns!

I think it would be a bit much to read too many in one go - like eating too many sweets...

Yep. I think they are small seafoody things, with suckers. I could die of a surfeit of thinking about them!Just finished Harrison Davies' first book The Aduramis Chronicles: Destiny of the Wulf. Very busy at the beginning but he settled into his style and I really enjoyed the last half. More to come!
I've given up on Lifeblood - J. Przymus for now and now reading The Ghost Rock Cafe - Chinle Miller.

Oh so glad you like it Sarah
Just finished the second Merrily Watkins book
by Phil Rickman I enjoyed it more than the first one. Thought it had a better ending.
Just finished Alex, a compelling study of grief and a thriller rolled into one. I award this book five stars!Just started Only the Innocent.
Just finished Twins by Steve Roach. It's not on here but I've reviewed it on Amazon. Intrguing, unusual, sort of horror but now as we know it! Worth the 77p any day.Doing a bit of proofing at the moment but I am interspersing it with some of Marc's Flash Fiction 52FF
I read and enjoyed both of those Jonathan!Started and finished Land of the Living
Started They Won't Be Missed
After finishing The Stand (if you haven't read it yet you really should, I thought Steven King books were scary but this one isn't, it's more 'thinky'). I have started Anna Karenina I've had it on my kindle since I first got it nearly 2 years ago and decided since it is coming out as a movie in September I'll read it before I go see it.
I think I'm going to get that when I've finished my proofreading Sarah. To heck with it - I'll get it now! They Won't Be Missed
I finished reading
by Heather Gudenkauf yesterday - It's a brilliant novel. I couldn't put it down! I honestly couldn't recommend it highly enough. Now I'm about to start the 9th book in the Stephanie Plum series
by Janet Evanovich.
