Just finsihed The Crucible (Part 1) by Ruby Barnes - a stunning political thriller and extremely well written too.
Just finished
The last book Anne McCaffrey wrote with her son Todd before her death in 2011. I am a big fan of hers, so yes, I enjoyed it. It was not the best she had written, but it was of the dragons of Pern 'nough said. A whole lot of people are not going to like this book. Todd has a great act to follow. He is not his mother but is trying to keep Pern alive. He has a long way to go. I do hope he makes it.
Todd McCaffrey was interviewed for the Sword & Laser podcast a couple of months ago (S&L is another majorly active group here on Goodreads as well as the Geek & Sundry channel on YouTube). Anyhow it's an interesting listen: http://www.swordandlaser.com/home/201...
I went and listened. It was not what I expected but it was interesting. When he asked her to describe a Pern dragon she was stuck, didn't have a clue. Very revealing.
I have a book that was done with anne mccaffrey which has loads ove drawings of characters, dragons and places in Pern. I will try and see if i can find it when I get gethome, its really fascinating to see how she pictured them.
I've just finished Summer Shorts which features David Wailing and Rosen Trevithick together with some other authors from the KU Forum. There's not a duff story in there and there's a prequel to Rosen's new book Pompomberry House On the besis of this funny prequel I've grabbed myself the new book to read in due course.
Just finished a printed copy of A Madness of Angels - urban fantasy fun! Just started Artemis Fowl which I don't think will take long, so Pompomberry House is next up!
Finished The Waterproof Bible, sadly didn't enjoy it as much as his previous book.Still thinking about what to read next. Too much choice.
Just about to start Pompomberry House and Bob Franks' book Song of the Shaman which he hasn't added. I know he only has intermittent internet access. However, I'll read them both - I can multi-task!
Just finished Trauma by Ken McCure, It was well written and I did enjoy it but Ifelt the ending was a bit rushed.
Started
I know it will be a good read as I have read the first two in this series. On chapter five and I was indeed right. Will read
next.
I am going to read
next.I have started it but I didn't get very far before I got distracted by other dipper books I got in the sale!
I finished The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood, started and finished The Survival of Thomas Ford, started and finished The Ghost Pirates, started and finished A Long Time Dead and started Household Tales by Brothers Grimm
I finished reading The Beach Cafe and loved it. Then read Summer Kisses which I thought was chick lit but turned out to be romance, still enjoyed it though.
Now I'm reading Pompomberry House and loving it so far!

I thought the writing was good in them all Pat, but in any book of stories you prefer some to others. All together, I thought it was a good light read.
Just finished Found Wanting by Robert Goddard. Now reading the audiobook of The Hangman's Daughter. I'm decorating at the moment so I should whizz through it.
Finished The CapuchinReally enjoyed this,I do like a good biography. This had sex, murder and violence as well as being an inspirational read.Started Pompomberry House and I am still smiling at the references to the forum.
I read Tiff's Short Erotic Tales Vol 1 and finished it, I recommend it to anyone who hasn't read erotica before and is interested in giving it a try. It's not at all what I expected having never read erotica before but since it's our Mel I thought I'd give it a try.
July was a very slow month between being busy and beta reading, August has started very well as I have read a book in a day (had to do a 4 hour train journey for work!!) - The Love of the Dead by Craig Saunders. I am only reading indie authors on Good REads this month, looking forward to that, the ones I have picked seem very good.
Finished Artemis Fowl on the train home last night, and read the first few pages of The Dance Of The Voodoo Handbag as I'd not realised I had wi-fi turned off and a bunch of books queued up for download. But by this morning, I was bang up to date and started on Pompomberry House!
I started The Time Child by Lexi Revellian last night, am really enjoying it, even though there is no blood or gore!!
I am seriously depressed but also deleriously happy as I've just started re-reading The Stand .. I am a slow reader and I'll still be reading it at Xmnas 2013. That said SK is THE master storyteller.
Finished and reviewed Time Child. Think I'm going ul read Andrew Kaufman's second book next but am spoilt for choice with our authors and trying to read some of the oldest first
I just finished Loose Ends, a paranormal detective novel which I really enjoyed and would recommend. Think I'll start The Stand next.
Finished Cage Of Bones,DI Phil Brennan must be the unluckiest copper ever,he's nearly died in every book so far, can't wait for the new one in September.Just started Natural Causes, which is free today.

"I bought Black Prism MONTHS ago and I still haven't read it - any good?"
Black Prism was a five in my book. Great characters, awesome magic, some nice political intrigue, and plot twists done well.
Bullets and Fire opens with the first person narrator relaxing in a bar after attacking a twelve year-old girl and breaking her nose. He might not be that proud of it, but it’s what he had to do to prove his worth as he aims to achieve initiation into one of the local gangs.Job done, he asks the men with him about their own initiation. For me, the questions are a little bold for the narrator to be pushing at such an early stage and the lips of the gang members are a little too loose given their responsibilities.
Passing his test, the protagonist is taken along to the old bowling alley, not the gang’s hangout. It’s a grim, primitive space, vividly described and bordering on the setting for a horror piece. The setting shows Lansdale’s work off well.
From this point, the story unfolds with 3D smellivision and non-stop action.
It’s a good story, but not a great one. There are many strengths to the piece as you might expect, but for me it lacks a little something – the dark edge of humour perhaps, a little more of a test for the main character or a little more deviation or some deviation from the path upon which things start.
Good work. Solid work. Worth reading.
Another happy Pompomberry House reader! Now for some Jasper Fforde with One of Our Thursdays Is Missing!
I also finished Pompomberry House this morning - great fun!
Now I've just started Devoted Sisters.

Really enjoyed it. It is a very cleverly written book. Thank you Jon, I hope number four is on the way.
I've already finished Visions of Sugar Plums by Janet Evanovich, which was a short but hilarious novel, an now I'm about to start reading The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen.
Keith wrote: "just finished Fer-de-Lance enjoyed this book a new type detective for me nero wolf he dosent leave his house but gets his assistent archie to do all the running around he started writing these in..."I liked the sound of this one - but it is far too expensive as a kindle. So, sadly, will have to pass.

Yay! You'll love it Patti :o)
I finished Devoted Sisters last night, just before bed time, which was not good! I can't say that I enjoyed reading it but did find it gripping and compelling reading. I've given it five stars based on it's quality.
I also finised reading Summer Shorts which was very good. There's a prequel to Pompomberry House in there and a story from David Wailing which I loved - took me back to my childhood.
Now I've just started Willie Wit's new book and really enjoying it so far!A Brave New Hope

Just finished ColdSleep
Tension built, started to peek. The End. I really like this authors work but this one feels unfinished.
I finished The Lion,The Lamb, the Hunted, really enjoyed it, just a shame it was only 84% of the book. Now going to read Shattered by Karl - the first three books by our authors have been great and I'm expecting this to be the same.
