Just finished - just started
I've got Moths on my Kindle Kath, so intrigued to know what you thinkJust finishedThe October Man an intriguing side story to The Rivers series, with the legs to travel on, I think
The first story is very tense all the way through, and the concept is great. The second - the one that's actualy entitiled Moths, is different. Starting with childhood memories - very well written and you feel you know these kids, but as yet, I don't know where it's going. Full review to follow when I've actually read it all! Won't be that long at this rate.
Read another Clark Ashton Smith short story collection, Lost Worlds: Volume 2: Atlantis, Hyperborea, Xiccarph and Others - reviewed - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2867995776and
Volume 1 of Joe Abercrombie's trilogy The Blade Itself - reviewed - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2934335538.
I rather agreed with you about Clark Ashton Smith, I think you read his for the prose rather than the story at timesI rather gave up on the Abercrombie to be honest. I just couldn't work up any empathy for the characters, the background was too dark and the story just went on too long
Read Blood Heritage by Sheri Tepper and posted a review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2939750061.
The Case of the Black TulipsI met one of the authors at a show and she told me at the time that she and another author were writing a novel, set in Victorian London. Each would write her own heroine in the first person but they'd take turns with chapters.
Eventually I've got round to reading it and enjoyed it. It is a 'detective story' which worked for me. I found the swapping of viewpoints, allowing you to see the protagonists through the other protagonist's eyes worked for me.
I enjoyed it, a decent mystery, characters that could well grow on me, human interest and humour :-)
Last night I finished Moths: A trio of dark novellas by Sam Kates. three very different but equally unsettled stories on The Dark Side.http://ignitebooks.blogspot.com/2019/...

Just finished The Sacred Art of Stealing by Christopher Brookmyre. A very clever book.Just started And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer by Fredrik Backman.
Yesterday I read To Night Owl from Dogfish, a collaboration between two Yew York Times best selling authors (whom I've never heard of). It's a scream in places. Emails between two 12 year-old girls.http://ignitebooks.blogspot.com/2019/...

Read Mark Lawrence's Prince of Thorns and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2943516699.
I just finished Shedding Skin, it apparently won some award in 1972 but I think it was a bit beyond me, I didn't get it. It was just weird and it's the kind of book I feel you need to study rather than read and I'm no good at that without someone more intelligent to guide me :o)Has anyone else ever read it?
Not me Jud.Read A Merritt's Seven Footprints to Satan and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1649443781.

I read that recently too, and had pretty much the same impression. Actually, I felt that if the author had made it a bit darker, it would have improved it. Try his The Face in the Abyss for a full on fantasy though
Just finished some of Sam Llewellyn sailing thrillers. Solid, but unspectacular. But I did thoroughly enjoy The Only Wizard in Town
Not on Kindle, I'm just starting a Victor Bridges novel, The Secret of The Creek. Pam, must be a few of us on a 1930's kick right now!

Thanks Will, I did read Face in the Abyss some time ago and wasn't that keen I'm afraid.
Read Green Phoenix by Thomas Burnett Swan and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2950258456
Another oldie, then...Be no good if we all liked the same stuff though, would it? Lots of people like The Ship of Ishtar , what we would now call a portal fantasy, but it did nothing for me

Just finished Clovenhoof which was right up my street for a solid 4*
Just finished The Diary of a Bookseller, found it a bit boring and the author comes across as a bit pretentious. It certainly isn't "hilarious", I don't recommend it. I would love to visit the shop some day though!
Finished The Woman in the Window last night. I loved it! But I didn't see the final twist coming (I didn't see any of the twists coming, if I'm honest), I think I must be pretty naive and believe everything I'm told, so I'm easy to hoodwink. I'm actually looking forward to the film coming out, I think it'll be really good or at least it should be!Just started Moving, I got to the end of the first chapter last night and had to stop, the last sentence had me feeling very emotional (daft eejit). I'm blaming Kitty's birthday and starting school for making me sensitive to the thought of kids growing up and flying the nest. It's just as well I can laugh at myself.

Just finished Wake Up, Sir! by Jonathan Ames. Bizarre!Time for a thriller. Just started The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn.
I've just read The Girl with Space in Her Heart by Lara Williamson. It's intended for pre- and early teens but I found it a very good read even for an oldie like me.http://ignitebooks.blogspot.com/2019/...
I've just finished The Lost Man by Jane (The Dry) Harper. For my money, her best.http://ignitebooks.blogspot.com/2019/...
Just finished Fallen Angel
