Just finished - just started

It is good - Amazon reckons they have a paperback for 41p today, but it is interesting what you can find on the bookshelf in a jury room.

In two days I have read Not Quite Nice and The Shakespeare Secret. Loved them both. The Celia Imrie book was witty and charming, with recipes scattered through it, and the Carroll one was fast-paced and an adventure. Going to go and peruse the shelves now for my next read.

My experiences of series books they don't often get better, I read them because you get used to the characters, but this one topped the lot. If you enjoy crime, particularly international crime, it doesn't get any better.
I've started Russian Connection now, seems like I'm hooked to read all 13 in the series. I'll tell you how I get on.

Such a lovely book.
I'm still sobbing a bit.

Just finished Only Time Will Tell by Jeffrey Archer and immediately hit my kindle and downloaded and started The Sins of the Father. Enjoying them.

Dave is reading it at the moment and was just telling me about it. I thought it might be something you'd enjoy.

Read this years ago; picked up a copy secondhand as it was long out of print, so nice to see it's available now on Kindle. The story of King Arthur but as a Roman Britain warlord with Celtic elements, which must have been one of the earliest of those takes on the Arthurian legend. Enjoyed it as I recall. I've just checked and it was also a sequel to her YA The Lantern Bearers.

Too true, even with books that have been enjoyed by thousands. I recently gave up on I See You at chapter 4. Maybe I wasn't in the right place at that time for that story, but it totally bored me, despite its 4* average with 10,000 ratings of Goodreads.

Too true. I recently gave up on Reamde, even though it had been recommended to me by multiple people, because it was just so dull.

Whilst non-fiction it's such a good read that I think it's worth including here. It's a chunky book, well over 400 pages but fascinating

I found myself making mental summer shopping lists as I was reading it.
I didn't even bother flipping through to the end.

I think I saw it raved about by a newspaper book reviewer which is normally enough to put me off :-)

I've got both of those, might bump them up

Just started rereading

Just started rereading

Yes, I re-read the Amber series (first one and books 1 and 2 of second) a little while ago and found most of them disappointing.

I really enjoyed them and downloaded the third one straight away but ... I kind of lost interest and moved onto something else! Read Queenie by Michael Korda which I first read in this very same apartment about 20 years ago!! Still loved it. Am now reading Gone for Good by Harlan Coben. Been zooming through it today.

I reread the 1st couple a while ago and found them okayish, but this one was little more than a heap of static conversations that never really went anywhere.

Funnily enough I quite liked this one as it reminded me of an Agatha Christie whodunnit - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1738943707. But not a keeper; the whole series has had to go sadly, after memories of it being fantastic - seem to have changed my opinion since my teens!

Alexandre Dumas and Jean Plaidy did interesting jobs on her...

Quite a good page turner so far.

I've enjoyed the Shreves I've read. I find I need to read a light comedy afterward, though. Same as after reading anything by Diane Chamberlain.
