Ooh, sounds like they'll be right up my street then!
Started Before I go to Sleep tonight, struggling to put it down, even considering taking it to work tomorrow, haven't taken a paperback to work for years!
Just finished Necessary Lies by Diane Chamberlain. Stunning stuff and based on an unpleasant truth still in existence in the 70s.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just started Lost Girls by Angela Marsons. I enjoyed her first two in this series. This is shaping up to be the best yet.
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "David wrote: "Started Before I go to Sleep tonight, struggling to put it down, even considering taking it to work tomorrow, haven't taken a paperback to work for years!."I liked that one too.
S J Watson is a local lad too, went to the same school as our kids.
I think it might be!Just reviewed a book due out shortly. It's Rachel Abbott's lastest Kill Me Again. Once again, I think this is her best - and that's put it up against some tough competition!

I went to bed really early last night to start The LacunaGot a whole 2% read before I fell asleep.
Don't fancy picking it back up now. :(
I need a book...
I just finished Wives and Daughters, it was a long haul but very enjoyable! I'm now reading Fellowship with Demons, I had forgotten how much I love Lexi's writing style.
Finished Before I Go to Sleep last night, loved it. Apart from holidays and travelling, I can't remember the last time I read a book so quickly, I was that engrossed I took it to work instead of the kindle. My only regret is that it took me so long to read it. 5 star read

*Whispers* - Has she gone? ;)I forgot to mention yesterday (it was that kind of day) how much I enjoyed Angela Marsons' Lost Girls. I'd read and enjoyed her previous two in the series and it was David S who recommended this one. I'd have got there in the end but I'm glad I listened to him!

Just started Escape From B-Movie Hell. Three chapters in and really enjoying it; crazy stuff, but enjoyable crazy.

was I the only person tempted to create a Angela Marson identity to really confuse the situation ;-)
Just finished rereading Coming Up for Air
, which was nice to revisit. I'd forgotten more about it than I remembered, but it must be about 30 years since I last read it.Just started rereading
Changing Places, which I think I've read a couple of times before.

Maybe it's one of my many alternative identities!
Just finished
by Lee Child. It was good. This is my review — https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Charlie wrote: "I liked Coming up for air, but remember thinking the end was abrupt and wanted more. I think that's the one where he used no semi-colons in the book, but I could be wrong."I suppose it did have an abrupt end, but when he discovered that what he was looking for was no longer there, I suppose there was nowhere else left to go.
I didn't notice if there were any semi-colons or not.
Just finished Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind
, which was pretty good. There wasn't anything there I hadn't come across elsewhere, but it was all put together rather well and well worth reading.Just started
The Undercover Economist.
Just finished
which I liked. This is my review — https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...Just started
Just finished Buried
, which was another good one in the series.Just started
Monstrous Regiment, which is - obviously - a Pterry book and therefore a good thing.
I've just started The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie SocietyIt was all the rage a few years ago, wasn't it?
Not sure about the letters format. Doesn't flow.
I'll stick with it for a bit and see how it goes.
Just finished The Martian by Andy Weir. Very enjoyable read despite being a bit tech heavy in places. Not sure what to start next!!
Adrian wrote: "Just finished The Martian by Andy Weir. Very enjoyable read despite being a bit tech heavy in places. Not sure what to start next!!"
You may watch the film.

I did already, before I read the book!
Much preferred the book.
Kath wrote: "Monstrous Regiment's one of my favourites."Pratchett is always a good read, but this one felt a little laboured to me. He was trying to make too much of a point with it.
Pam wrote: "Finished Mandrake

OK, not sure if my review gives away a bit too much (link is in my challenge thread). I hide spoilers but in this case I didn't think I'd been mega specific. However, I wasn't keen on this book in the end; it dragged on and the lead character wasn't active. You might also find it hard to obtain as the copy I was reading was from the original 1960s publication and I'm sure it's long out of print.

Hm, okay, I'll investigate. Did you like the Dark is Rising series?

Loved it, apart from the first volume Over Sea, Under Stone which she wrote earlier than the rest and which struck me as aimed at younger children than The Dark is Rising and subsequent novels.

I'm a very unsqueamish person, but he seems to have at least one scene in each book of the series that makes me cringe for a moment or two.
But they are are good reads, well worth it.
