Just finished - just started

Finished Before I Go to Sleep which was quite brilliant. It's a slow burn thriller about a woman with amnesia who wakes up every day with no memory of the last 20 years. Vaguely reminiscent of We Need to Talk About Kevin in style and emotional impact, if not subject. Now just started Puhdistus by Sofi Oksanen - actually the translation is called "Purge", but couldn't find a GR link for that and sad to say I'm not fluent in Finnish.
Just finished Uncle Tom's Cabin a strongly political script but too much preaching, just starting "The Fishing Pool" by Mary Fitzgerald which does not come up in the lists. It only seems to have come out last week though.
I have never tried to read Ulysses but I did struggle with Uncle Tom's Cabin but got through it by using the text to speech when I was doing the ironing and similar boring chores.
Just finished the Gods and Kings: A Novelwhich is free again today. I enjoyed reading about a part of the Old Testament with which I was unfamiliar. Have just started Celebrated Crimes: The Borgias And The Cenci.
Just finished:
"BEAT TO QUARTERS" by C.S. Forester (Book #6 of "THE HORNBLOWER SAGA").
Just started:
"SHIP OF THE LINE" by C.S. Forester (Book #7 of "THE HORNBLOWER SAGA").
First read the 11 book "HORNBLOWER" series as a teenager, and am now revisiting them.
They still hold (displace?) water!

I've just finished The Mudlark which was a freebie some time ago and turned out to be surprisingly enjoyable, it's a light hearted romance, bit far fetched but fun.
I've just started Mary Fitzgerald's latest book (can't find goodreads link) and it's very good so far!

Indulged in a Goodreads feast while on holiday, finished A Hole in the World-Sophie Robbins,The Kult-Shaun Jeffrey,Steady Past Your Granny's-Philip Whiteland and 1923:A Memoir-Henry Leslie Smith.I also dipped in and out of Willie Wit's Twenty Tiny Tales while travelling.Had I not joined this group I doubt I would have chosen any of these books and what treasures I would have missed as every one was a 'gem'.
Ready to start Broken City-D.D.Chant.
Philip (sarah) wrote: "Ready to start Broken City-D.D.Chant. "Just started reading the sample of that. I could have sworn I'd bought it. Ah well, that's easily corrected.

I finished Endless Summer a few days ago, by our very own Chris Petersen. A ghost story with heart and well worth the read. Even got me a bit choked at the end.Just started another regular's book - DeeDee's Broken City. I have to admit my heart sank when I saw it was written in the first person, after the Chrysalids, but DeeDee doesn't appear to have fallen into the same trap as Mr Wyndham as the descriptions are good and interesting.

Just finished
it was brill! not sure whatI'll start next. See what notion takes me when I open my kindle.
I just read 'Forgive My Fins' by an author I can't remember. I've a horrible memory when it comes to names and numbers, but I can quote scenes from 'Much Ado About Nothing' from heart! How weird is that? Any way back on topic, the book was o.k. for younger teens, it's a girly book as well, I can't imagen boys reading it! I liked the writers style, it was friendly and easy to read, but the heroine anoid me, I thought she was as thick as two planks, But that might be because I'm a little to old for the story.
Just finished The Allegra Biscotti Collection which was ok, a light read, probably aimed at a younger audience although it doesn't sya so in the description, the main character is 14. I think I probably grabbed this as a freebie. Just started Dying for Justice. I'm enjoying this Detective Jackson series - another author I wouldn't have come across if not for the kindle!
Then out of curiosity how do these titles grab you, Pattie? They're mine but apart from the first one I can still change them if you don't think they're attention grabby enough.Broken City.
Can't decide if the running theme in the series is cute, or cheesy!
Just finished The Throwback and now on to the set of 4 tea soriesThe First Four - The Tea Series, started it last night and so far it seems like a fun read.I love Historical fiction, but The Crimson Petal and the white ...just didnt do it for me, not sure why, but I had to plow through it grimly hanging on to the bitter end!!

In that case you'll be okay with A Hole in the World Lorraine. It's quite innocent by those standards.
