Ah, I suspect that's why you're telling Elle that it all makes sense eventually (It doesn't) ...

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12602 comments Just finished Hide in Plain Sight by Marta Perry, it was as good as I could expect from the reviews, as it wasn't my kind of book, too much love and God for my liking

Lorraine | 575 comments Finished Original Skin, which i enjoyed,am now 90% through To the Grave, which i'll finish tonight. Then i'm going to start The Killing Room,i hated the last book of his that i read,so if i'm not enthralled by about 30 pages,i'll give up.

message 6660: by David (new)

David Hadley Just finished The Collected Works of Keats which was rather tedious with all the lesser stuff in it. A 'Selected' would probably be 5 stars worth.

Just started A Brief History of Life in the Middle Ages by Martyn Whittock which was a 99p Amazon Kindle thing a few weeks back.

message 6661: by Debbie (new)

Debbie McGowan (debbiemcgowan) | 245 comments Just finished All She Wrote by Josh Lanyon - enjoyed immensely.

Just started Fair Game, also by Josh Lanyon - a much more serious read.

I still have part-read books to finish - I've never given up on one yet, but I'm getting close to considering it with Tom Holt's two most recent offerings.

Damned good story eh? :)

David Hadley Just finished Write. Publish. Repeat. (The No-Luck-Required Guide to Self-Publishing Success) by Sean Platt . An excellent book on the whole self-publishing lark.

The title says it all - they say, but the book adds the greater detail.

If you like their podcasts, you'll like the book, if you don't, you may not.

I set it down at about 20% and picked up another book instead.

I reckon Dirk Gently must have abandonment issues by now ;-)

message 6667: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Haha! I picked up Good Omens which although I might enjoy at some stage in the future (like Dirk Gently) it's not what I wanna read - so I'm gonna have to change to something else haha!

I'm not in the mood for quirky humour books apparently.

message 6668: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Finished a reread of Marnie as I was considering it for including it in my 100 fave novels quilt. Ooh, it comes close, but no cigar. So, started David Hewson's Carnival For The Dead as the extract was good. Now a third thru and have decided to abandon as it just isn't enthusing. Off to reread some Patricia Highsmith 'Ripley' books as DTBs - how come her brilliant novels aren't on kindle?

message 6669: by Michael (new)

Michael Brookes (technohippy) I've just finished Hellbender by Jason Jack Miller and it was simply a fantastic horror read:

http://thecultofme.blogspot.co.uk/201...

I'm now onto Beneath by Kit Tinsley which is off to an excellent start.

message 6670: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Hi all, just finished Sharp Objects. Wife recommended it, I wasn't sure. Glad I made the effort. Camille, a self harming alcoholic reporter is sent back to her home town of Wind Gap to investigate a couple of child murders. Flynn really captures the toxic nature of the town and it's residents, they really are a cruel bunch of swine and the effect it has on Camille is dramatic. There's a lot going on yet Flynn still manages to keep the murder plot ticking along nicely in tandem. Very, very good.

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments I love Good Omens. My copy is a bit tatty now, but that's one that's not going anywhere.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I zipped through Twelve Years a Slave yesterday and today. Interesting read as long as you're not put off by the slightly archaic language.

Wanted to read it before I watch the film.

Michelle (Spiderg1rl) (spiderg1rl) | 734 comments I finished Wool Omnibus (Silo, #1) (Wool, #1-5) by Hugh Howey the other night and have quickly moved onto Shift Omnibus Edition (Silo, #2) (Wool, #6-8) by Hugh Howey . Really enjoying the series so far. I already don't want it to end

Patti I picked up Twelve Years a Slave as well, plan on reading it before I watch the film but I can wait for the dvd, too much else to read/watch before then.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just reviewed Mark Faulkner's novella Infested. It's about a subject (spiders) that many people are phobic about, but the beginning of the novel in particular has some stunning writing about a canoeing holiday. Give it a go!

i just need to choose one. sometimes having thousands of books isn't a good thing.
