That's very timely. I tried, and failed, to order the 'Thursday' book using the GR tag. Will now have another go and try & get the first one!

Jim Getting there, now on the 6th Cadfael Omnibus :-)
I really must try and get hold of those books in some format - other than raiding the library of course.

I would recommend them.
What has struck me is that I've read sixteen of the stories one after the other and am still enjoying them. Agatha Christie I found I could only read a couple then I had to read something else

Lynda Wilcox (lyndawrites) | 1059 comments I've just finished The Straw Men by Paul Doherty and started Tollesbury Time Forever by Stu AyrisTollesbury Time Forever

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments I finished The List by J.A. Konrath . I quite enjoyed it. I've had a load of J.A. Konrath books and now I've tasted them, I like them.

Then onto K and I chose Roger Knowles Broken Cats & Cowboy Hats by Roger Knowles . It's quite bleak.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12623 comments Just finished Odd Hours, going to start Deeply Odd next, last of the 6.

Jim | 21813 comments Onto the 7th Cadfael Omnibus :-)

message 5460: by Karon (new)

Karon | 41 comments Just finished Inferno which I enjoyed. Typical Dan Brown but a good fast read with good descriptions of the locations. Just started Gray Justice which is exciting so far.

message 5461: by Kath (last edited Jul 02, 2013 01:29AM) (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just started Secrets From The Dust by George Hamilton. It's shaping up to be excellent!

Also started re-reading Black by Rose by Andy Barrett because I can't keep away from it. I'm falling in love with it all over again!

message 5462: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I finished Explorers of the Nile: The Triumph and Tragedy of a Great Victorian Adventure which was quite interesting although I got a bit confused at times. I finished Agatha Raisin and the Vicious Vet and Agatha Raisin and the Walkers of Dembley and I started The Redemption of Alexander Seaton, I'm loving it! Was great sitting in the tea room at work looking at Kings College through the window while reading about Alexander visiting Kings! Makes me want to go on a tour of Alexander's Aberdeen.

message 5463: by Michael (new)

Michael Brookes (technohippy) I've just finished A Calculated Life which was pretty good:

http://thecultofme.blogspot.co.uk/201...

I'm now onto The Swimmer

message 5464: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Just finished 'A Dreadful Penance' by Jason Vail (mediaeval action-packed), just started Stuart McBride, Shatter the Bones. I like his sense of humour but I think I'm coming to the end of my tolerance for noir.
And I'm reading Umberto Eco's The Prague Cemetery. Honest.

Brilliant book, I agree. I haven't read the next one yet, apparently set in Ireland.
Spooky, though - I was walking past King's a hour ago!

aw, I'd take Dawkins over Potter any day! :-)

Natasha Holme (natashaholme) | 832 comments Marc wrote: "aw, I'd take Dawkins over Potter any day! :-) ..."

I don't think Potter makes an appearance in The Casual Vacancy, Marc?? And Richard Dawkins's The Blind Watchmaker is most definitely still on my TBR list. I just need a looooong break for my head to stop fizzing.

message 5472: by Michael (new)

Michael Brookes (technohippy) I've just finished Neogothic, it's a fun fantasy adventure:

http://thecultofme.blogspot.co.uk/201...

I'm still reading The Swimmer

message 5473: by Marc (new)

Marc Nash (sulci) | 4313 comments Just finished The Unfortunates by B.S. Johnson The Unfortunates and will post a short review tonight.

Probably won't start anything else as need to read a draft of my own WIP to start editing

message 5474: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I just finished No More Tears by Andrew Barrett (on phone so can't do links) which was very exciting and indeed filled with a few of my own worst fears. I highly recommend the series and I hope we see more of Roger Conniston. Started Time Hunters by Carl Ashmore now, finally! I've been hearing about this book for far too long without having read it yet

message 5475: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Time Hunters is another great series Jud. It gets darker is it progresses. I think you'll love it!

message 5476: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I already do! I'm 50% through.

message 5477: by Robert (new)

Robert Spake (ManofYesterday) | 328 comments Finished A Clash of Kings and I've started Dragon Killer. I'm about half-way through so far and it's really good. It's quite fast-paced but there's still time for world-building without expense to the plot.

message 5478: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I finished The Time Hunters, what a fabulous book! I shall have to gather the rest of the series to my kindle. I'm going to give Patrick Moore: The Autobiography a go now and also War and Peace, it is one with free audiobook download but I tried listening to it and it just bored me to tears so I'll try reading instead.

message 5479: by Natasha (new)

Natasha Holme (natashaholme) | 832 comments Jud (Disney Diva) wrote: "I tried listening to it and it just bored me to tears so I'll try reading instead."

ROFL

message 5480: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I meant the voice bored me to tears not the actual story although the chapter was only 9 minutes long so reading it may not prove too fruitful either.

I'm really surprised at Patrick moore's autobiography. It's really funny, I think I've laughed more in the first 7% than I have in any other entire book. I recommend it (the first 7% anyway)

message 5481: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Im getting through a fair few books at the moment.

message 5482: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Just finished Stef Penney's excellent The Invisible Ones, and now started A Dying Fall

message 5483: by Karon (new)

Karon | 41 comments I've just finished Gray Justice by Alan McDermott which was on my free book list. It was a nice quick read with a good story and a few twists. I shall keep an eye out for the others in the series.
I am now reading I Am Number Four (Lorien Legacies, #1) a completely different genre but I am enjoying it.
I have also just started Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, #4) by J.K. Rowling in DTF

message 5484: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just finished The Race by Jan Hurst Nicholson. Great little short story.

message 5485: by David (new)

David Hadley Finished re-reading Consider Phlebas (Culture, #1) by Iain M. Banks I couldn't remember any of it, although I am certain I've read it before.

T'was a good 'un though.

Started reading Fall of Giants (The Century Trilogy #1) by Ken Follett which looks like a long bugger, quite liked Pillocks of Earth The Pillars of the Earth (The Pillars of the Earth, #1) by Ken Follett though, so maybe it'll be ok.

Also started re-reading, for the umpteenth time Riotous Assembly by Tom Sharpe and fondly(?) remembering the great Constable Els in all his glory.

message 5486: by Michael (new)

Michael Brookes (technohippy) I've just finished The Swimmer, it's a good thriller:

I'm now onto The Dead Room

message 5487: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine | 575 comments I've got the dead room, not read it yet tho,but am expecting it to be as good as the first 2 books.

message 5493: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Just finished Stuart MacBride's Shatter the Bones - darn the man, the humour and setting keep pulling me in, even though it's far too noir for me. Just started Victoria Hislop's The Island, about a leper colony off Crete. Didn't like the beginning which is, I thought, a bit chick-litty (is that a word?) but am now drawn in by the accounts of the colony itself in mid-20th century. Also started C.J. Sansom's Heartstone - good stuff. No blue squares from me! Aren't links something to do with sausages?

message 5494: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I really enjoyed The Island Lexie.

message 5495: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Ooh Lexie, I enjoyed both of those - and I agree re the Island. Once it got going and looked at the island's history, it was very interesting.

message 5496: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Just finished A Dying Fall, which is the fifth in the series - and am now going back to read book 2, The Janus Stone, as I found book 5 way too slow in filling in all the back story, and didn't have much of a plot.

message 5497: by Natasha (new)

Natasha Holme (natashaholme) | 832 comments Just finished The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling. Absolutely loved it. A masterpiece.

Just started Truth Be Told: Adam Becomes Audrey by Alexandra Bogdanovic. Really looking forward to this. A memoir in which the author marries her dream man, to later discover that he identifies as a she and intends to transition.

message 5498: by Michael (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments I've decided to put David Copperfield on hold for now, trading it for Albert Speer's post-war memoir Inside the Third Reich

From a 19th century classic to fully paid up member of the Nazi party - that's quite a jump.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on with Inside The Third Reich, Michael. It sounds like it might be a good book.

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments I'm a WWII nut, so I'll probably find it utterly fascinating!

Rudolph Hoss's memoirs were very interesting as well - Death Dealer: The Memoirs Of The Ss Kommandant At Auschwitz
