Animal Farm
question
Fact or Fiction...Which one do you prefer? And why?

I would say a bit of both...Fiction means you can make up your own world of wonder and fantasy like Harry Potter... and its awsome!Whatever you want, you can write it or read about it...
And fact is reality...Facts make the world go round...Need i say more.

Fiction; it's more palatable and has more practical benefits both emotionally and spiritually. Self-help books, in particular, often promise magical change in one's life if one but remembers all the salient points once one has finished the book. The same wisdom and life lessons are illustrated in the best of fiction in a way that speaks to the heart, lives in your memory, and can thus be applied to your life.
None. I think this is more of a satire mixed in with irony.
I read both. I used to prefer non fiction, but now I gobble up fiction.
They are like two sides of a coin. They are like Siamese twins. I like both.
Fiction, because it's easier to lose yourself in it.
I like both and I read both all of the time. I want it well written for either case.
Both. I just read a new Ripper book that broke the rules and now I am a fan of a genre I never paid attention to.
When it comes to books?
I prefer fiction books over non-ficiton books. But even a fiction book cannot work without some facts. Even if those facts are simply that humans walk on two legs and dogs walk on four. :)
Fantasy and Science Fiction are a bit tricky. Make it 'easy' for me to believe your story and it will work out.

It depends completely on where my head is at any particular point in time. Sometimes I need to escape into "make believe," thus has to be fiction. But sometimes, if a particular occurrence in my life has inspired me to want to know more, unquestionably it's non-fiction.
Usually fiction, partly because my husband reads so many huge non-fiction tomes, I can't compete!
But feel he's missing out on a lot by ignoring 21st century literature.

Fiction, almost exclusively. Recently, I read Jaycee Duggard's book, and it was okay. But, like others, I don't really like reality TV, and there is entirely too much of that around. I read to escape, and non-fiction just doesn't do it for me....
I always read fiction. I am inundated with reality (non-fiction) all day with 24hr news networks, internet resources and newspapers. I read for the enjoyment of escapism. If some of that fiction throws some NF facts at me, so be it.
Also I have a healthy hatred for reality TV, so the chances of me picking up a biography or auto-biography is extremely unlikely.

For books?
I don't really mind it. Just give me a good story that keeps me going and I'm full for it.
I can like things like: Lord of the Rings,
and also like stuff like: Cat on a hot tin Roof.

It depends on the book. I love history, but I usually detest historical fiction. I always loathe alternative histories. I like biographies and autobiographies, memoirs, some science books. I read several novels a month, or try to.
I am by no means a big reader, in fact, I have only recently picked up a book since my childhood days and enjoyed it so much that I since read more books in the last 6 months than I have in my life. The mistake I made, I believe, is that I tried reading way too serious no-fiction books too early in my childhood which sort of killed it for me at the time. Lucky for me, I married a book lover and recently got sucked into reading fiction that is easy to read and enjoyable. Do not give up on me yet though, 'cause who knows, I might still enjoy good non-fiction books after, let's say, my first 100 easy reading, little thinking fiction books.
Fiction although I do like good autobiographies if done well.
In general, I enjoy Fiction. Like some of you however, I do pick up an occasional non-fiction book that catches my eye. It usually is something about how people came to believe in mythical creatures and such. Fiction is the best though!
I generally read fiction, but do pick up an occasional non-fiction book that catches my interest. I read enough magazines and newspapers (online & in print) to fill my quota of reality. I enjoy a bit of escapism when I relax for the most part.
On the other hand, most of the stuff I watch on TV consists of news shows, realitity shows and the like.

I try to have a mix of fact and fiction...I prefer biographies and histories but nothing beats a great novel.
