I'm not particularly tall, so that's my permanent situation these days :-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments You can get special shoes that help with that.

Thanks Jim. The joy of the memoir, as I'm sure you've discovered, is that you don't have to make anything up and that truth is stranger than fiction!

message 2908: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments novelists cannot get away with the sort of story a memoir can :-)

message 2909: by David (new)

David Hadley Very true.

There have been three instances in my (more realistic) fiction where I've been accused of stretching plausibility too far, but all three incidents were based on real events.

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments This month's Derby Telegraph article explains why I owe Ted Heath (no, not the bandleader) a pint!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I was a mere nipper in the 70's. It probably affected my pocket money. Of course, Ted Heath had less influence on Ireland. We had our own problems.

I'm beginning to realise how the dinosaurs felt!

You might think that, I couldn't possibly comment!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Well you're still managing to post, so things can't be that bad.

No, you're thinking of The Joystrings (and that's showing my age)

Well well. I never heard of them. Maybe because they are from before I was born.

They abandoned their original name of The G-Strings for some reason

message 2924: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Gingerlily - Mistress Lantern wrote: "And where is your hat now?"

Back in the wardrobe. Rather unusually, I counted them all out and I counted them back in again.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I have this mental picture of a neat queue of hats standing waiting to be checked into the wardrobe!

Ah, a hat stand ;-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Be careful, or it might develop into a hat stand-off!

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Remember that business with our local cafe and the missing steak pie? Well...

http://philwhiteland.blogspot.co.uk/2...

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments So is it just a conceptual Steak Pie? Or has there at any stage been an actual Steak Pie. With all this uncertainty, it may be a Heisenberg Pie.

Well more that until you open the fridge, there may or may not be a pie in there. When you open the fridge you collapse the wave form.

Or... you can either have your pie or eat it!

Is this like 'is the light still on when you shut the fridge door'? (Btw, I've managed to hide your comment on FB - sorry!)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I can't remember what I said now. Probably wasn't worth reading anyway.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments If a tree falls in the forest when you shut the fridge door, is the pope a grizzly bear?

Never a problem if you remove the little bulb every time you close the door. Keep a plastic cup taped to the refrigerator door for it, and you, too, can live the rest of your life without this huge worry.

It requires a tiny bit of manual labour every time you go for a snack (so, good for weight reduction), but the peace of mind is amazing.

Regarding which, try this for size:

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Ouch! I use Dublin Bus quite a bit, and they are much better than that. There was one occasion though, when I wasn't paying attention, and I suddenly looked up to see that I was travelling towards mountains. Which was rather worrying, as I live in the flat bit in north Dublin, and the mountains were in the south bit. And the time I was visiting friends right down in the south bit, where the bus was every hour, and it just went right past the stop, in spite of several of us frantically waving as it sailed serenely past. We all had to wait another hour for the next one. And then there was the driver who was about 102, who refused to go more than 20 mph, even on empty roads. And the time I was reading and had headphones in, and failed to notice that everyone else had got off the bus and onto another one.....

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Oh yeah, and the time a diabetic passenger collapsed, and we had to wait for an ambulance. And the time a drunken idiot mooned the bus then fell over on his bare bum.

Oh the tales....
