Enjoy, GL :-) At the risk of showing my ignorance, what's NovaCon?

Its a sci fi convention."

Ah, I see. Until I retired at the end of August, I used to work in Nottingham.

This is what we want - enthusiasm :-)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Just had this comment on FB 'highly entertaining, superbly written' - doesn't get better than that, does it? :-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Excellent!

message 2016: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Yes, I'm quite definitely chuffed!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments You can get ointment for that.

I've always thought that it would make a good title for a steam enthusiasts' magazine.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments They are chuff-chuff-chuffed?

message 2020: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments The next part of the Josiah and Archibald story. Hope you like it. I've sorted out the constantly changing surname that Kath kindly pointed out, now as well :-)

Hello, Nottingham!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Will be heading for the train station soon, then to Tamworth and Nuneaton.

My word, you know how to live, don't you!

Nottingham station is quite impressive. Certainly better than what's left of Burton's.

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments I'm not sure if it means anything, but 'Last Rights' is currently trending on ReadWave!

http://www.readwave.com/trending/

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Dunno what any of that means...

message 2027: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments ReadWave is a bit like You Tube, only for writing :-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Oh I see. I thought it was a method of reading while on a surfboard!

message 2029: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments That was the original concept, but it was a very specialised audience ;-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments So they widened it out a bit. Good call!

message 2031: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Now it's available for skateboards as well

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments And snowboards?

message 2033: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments They have a humour section with irony boards

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments And with cheese boards?

Jan Hurst-Nicholson (janhurst-nicholson) | 347 comments So, what are you doing now that you have retired - re-organising the house and driving your wife dotty by telling her there's a better way to do things?

I wouldn't dare try to re-organise the house, but I'm probably driving my wife dotty, to say the least ;-)

I'm trying to do a bit more writing but most of our time is taken up with grandchild-minding, which is great but time-consuming.

Thanks a lot, Jan. I'm afraid it's the Derby Telegraph rather than The Daily Telegraph, but you've got to start somewhere ;-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments What my brother called The Rag.

How very dare he? Do you know, I realised the other day that I've been writing for them, on and off, for 10 years next month!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Keeping the standards up single handed!

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Ok, come on, admit it. Who was excited this morning because they could open a window on their Advent Calendar? (tentatively raises one hand slightly and blushes)

I've dragged out one of my Alter-Nativity stories to kick off December - http://www.readwave.com/the-night-wat... and I'm in the process of writing a new one :-)

Not according to the adverts on the T.V., they've been banging on about it since October. I'll be ready to shoot Ant & Dec if they keep on.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Try not to. I hear christmas in prison isn't very merry.

There are advantages to living without a TV.
