My Dad's first new car was a Morris Minor. Midnight Blue though. He got it in 1969 I think, and it served us faithfully for about 8 years before the wheel fell off in transit. He sold the remains, and someone fixed it and used it for several more years.

There was something about the design of the axle that made it liable to rust I think... I was only 12 at the time so some of the details escaped me

Build quality + climate perhaps...One of my dad's later cars had moss growing on the windows.

A bit of an update - Now, I'm sure you're all desperate to know how this promotion worked out? Well, not bad at all is the answer. The book made it to #624 in the overall Kindle Free chart, #1 in Humorous Essays and #6 in Biographies and Memoirs. 108 copies were downloaded on the .com site, 66 copies at .co.uk, 3 at .de and 4 at ,ca. My thanks to everyone who shared and tweeted the promotion and to all of you who have downloaded the title. I hope you read and enjoy the stories and would be very grateful indeed for a review.
I'm certain there are a few people out there who are kicking themselves (rather than the pantry door) because they missed out on this bargain. Well, kick no more because, for the rest of April, you can buy this title for the ridiculously cheap price of just 99p or equivalent. You would be mad not to! ;-)
