That is good. This universe needs more silly.

'Expendable Redshirt' - nice, like it.

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments My thanks to everyone who helped to publicise this, particularly the kind people in Master Koda and the FB Tweet Mob. It reached a respectable 4,111 in the Free in Kindle .com chart and made #56 in the .com General Humour chart. All I've got to do now is persuade people that 99c/99p is much the same as nothing! http://getbook.at/jambalaya

In another place, GL has already announced that she is far too young to remember such things! Is it just me that was a fan of this, then?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Looks like it Phil. Bit depressing?

Actually, not only was I not yet in existance in 1962, but my parents somehow neglected to get a television. So I missed out on all those wonderful childhood moments, and had to make do with the radio. Listen with Mother wasn't quite so exciting.

I used to love Listen with Mother - the pictures were much better!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I used to be sitting on the floor with the lego spread out everywhere, and my mum would be doing the ironing. So it really was listen with mother!

Not just me then! Due to my advancing years, I can lay claim to remembering Four Feather Falls, the Anderson's first venture with the magic guns that fired from their holsters :-)

Would it help if I begged? Or would that be a big issue? (Sorry, sorry)

message 1768: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments I think I can say, with a fair degree of certainty, that this is the only book with a Victorian urinal on the front cover. I suppose I should hasten to add, that the urinal I'm referring to is the black metal construction in the background, not the balding chap walking determinedly toward it

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments What do you think of the new title for the thread? I've nicked it from one of the reviews.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Makes me think or a little boy in a sailor suit with long curly hair.

You may be stuck in a time warp there, GL.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Yes - someone throw a rope so I can get out of it!

Ah, but if I did, would it get there?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments It would have to be a very long rope. And it would have had to be in existence since before the time I am stuck in.

Oh, don't get me started on time-travel conundrums! I always finish up being my own grandfather.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I thought most people ended up killing their grandfather! But no, you just have to be different...

I would be pretty damn different if I was my own grandfather! Extra toes would be the least of my worries ;-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Its probably a better idea to be someone else's grandfather then. Easier, too.

Done that, he's here at the moment (not my grandfather, I hasten to add)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments he'll go back in time and kill you at some stage. Be warned. ;)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I hope he doesn't succeed.

Ah well, now we're possibly getting on to presents for yourself, which is a different topic.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments The kind of presents that come in plain brown paper?

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Gingerlily - Dark and Mysterious Stranger wrote: "The kind of presents that come in plain brown paper?"

I wouldn't know about that, GL ;-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I don't know much either to be honest, but I've heard rumours..

A likely story! I'll bet the postman's groaning under the weight of them (or just groaning, I suppose)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Not one parcel like that has reached my door!

Of course not, you fell the poor devil with a rugby tackle the moment he appears on your drive.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I havent got a drive. And I'm usually still asleep when the postman arrives. Which reminds me - better check for post.

Ooooh! I got a parcel!

Garden path then. I had in mind a gravelled crescent drive leading up to the magnificent frontage but I may have been thinking of something else. What's in the parcel?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments What is in the parcel is this...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0...

And I do have a magnificent frontage, but no gravel.

Happy stamping! The lack of gravel is a disappointment.
