Well, I might have a big head but really...;-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Well it is a nice cover picture but that was the first thing I thought when i looked at it.

That's a fair point, GL. Thanks for the feedback.

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments I've decided to make a virtue out of necessity and base the Introduction of the book on my inability to provide relevant covers ;-)

You wouldn't want to see that, Rosemary. It's not as good as it was, in fact, (ahem) thongs aren't what they used to be.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments This is becoming the 'A Game of Thongs thread.

The thong has gone but the memory lingers on ;-)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments I'm confidently expecting to be appointed as Poet Laureate any time soon:

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Who is Pete Lariat?

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "Who is Pete Lariat?"

Could be a character in Jambalaya couldn't he ;-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Oh yeah - he'd fit light in there!

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "Oh yeah - he'd fit light in there!"

A light-fitter eh? Now that's a character I hadn't thought of before.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Make sure he's not too light or he'll float right out of the story. You want someone who can pull their weight as a character.

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "Make sure he's not too light or he'll float right out of the story. You want someone who can pull their weight as a character."

Ah yes, a heavy cowboy light-fitter who spends his time pulling his weight (they can't touch you for it, apparently)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Sounds like he needs a story of his own. And maybe a light-skirt of a girlfriend.

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments A peek into the new book!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Thanks, but I hate seeing bits of a book before I read it, so I'll pass this time.

Fair enough, GL. Wouldn't want to spoil it for you!

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments I can now confirm that the third book in the 'nostalgedy' series, 'A Kick at the Pantry Door', will be published via Kindle on Tuesday, 1st July, 2013. Just putting the finishing touches to it at the moment!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Ohhhh goody!

Thanks. Well, fancy meeting you here,GL!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Hi Philip. Are you going to make it to the next group meet-up?

message 1577: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Gingerlily (The One and Only) wrote: "Hi Philip. Are you going to make it to the next group meet-up?"

I'm afraid that work, and grandson minding, during the week mean that I usually collapse into an antisocial heap in a darkened room at the weekend. There's a local author group in Burton that I hardly ever make it to and that's only 15 miles away!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Ok, how about if the next one is at yours?

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Gingerlily (The One and Only) wrote: "Ok, how about if the next one is at yours?"

There's only so much space in a darkened room, GL, and I take up most of it ;-)

Anyone else have any memories of their first driving lesson they would like to share?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Not really, as the instructor wanted me to wear a short skirt.

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Gingerlily (The One and Only) wrote: "Not really, as the instructor wanted me to wear a short skirt."

Ah yes, I see. I didn't quite have that issue.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Well it would have been even more worrying if he had wanted you to wear a short skirt!

Yes, that's true. I guess we have to be thankful for small mercies :-)

Ok, so who spotted the deliberate mistake? Yep, I got the rhyme wrong, you know the "thirty days hath September..." one. The next book in the 'nostalgedy' series will be published on MONDAY 1st July, not Tuesday. Sorry!

message 1587: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments The first two compilations have just received a couple of nice reviews:

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments From time to time, usually when I'm bored, I tend to offer Jambalaya by Philip Whiteland for FREE in an effort to give me something to watch on the sales stats, and hopefully generate the odd positive review. Tomorrow and Thursday are such times, so if you fancy something really silly for your holiday reading...

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Was it painful?

message 1595: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Gingerlily - Goodbye, and thanks for all the fish. wrote: "Was it painful?"

It brought tears to my eyes - mind you, I can't think where else it could have brought them.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Um, no, I can't either!

message 1597: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Depending on pronunciation you can get tears in your trousers.

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Ignite wrote: "Depending on pronunciation you can get tears in your trousers."

As I have done many times. You get them on wedding cakes as well, for many reasons.
