Take a bow, Emma Sly from this very forum!

And yes Philip, in answer to your previous question it is really exciting to see it on Amazon :-)

Emma did a fantastic job and I was really pleased to get so much useful feedback from everyone on the forum. Now comes the tricky bit!

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Out of the blue, I had an order for 6 copies of the print version of Steady Past Your Granny's by Philip Whiteland from a national book wholesaler, on Friday. Not complaining, just saying! :-)

message 1159: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments For those who didn't see the version of this on the Derby Telegraph website a little while ago:

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Woohoo! Break out the Bovril!

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "Woohoo! Break out the Bovril!"

Thanks, GL. You don't have to break it out, it's strong enough to get out of the jar on its own ;-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Hmmm, not sure I like having to wrestle with my beverages...

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "Hmmm, not sure I like having to wrestle with my beverages..."

Beverages? Oh, so you drink it then? Not as a sandwich spread?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments The sandwich wouldn't get spread so much as battered flat..

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "The sandwich wouldn't get spread so much as battered flat.."

Could be! I haven't used Bovril since I used to work there in my teenage years. Now Marmite is a different matter. That's mostly vegetables, in the same way that Nanny Ogg's brew is mostly apples.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I thought it was yeast... Are you thinking of Vegamite?

message 1168: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "I thought it was yeast... Are you thinking of Vegamite?"

I never think of Vegimite if I can help it. Yes, it is based on yeast extract, which is a waste product of the local breweries, but it also contains a lot of pressed vegetables.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I've just gone off it - thats far too healthy for me!

message 1170: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Both Steady Past Your Granny's and Crutches For Ducks are currently in the Amazon UK Top 5000! It won't last, but it's nice while it does (now, where have I heard that before?)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Oh here most likely!

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments For no good reason whatsoever, here's a very silly joke:

WARNING - APPALLING JOKE COMING UP:

I used to work in a canning factory. One day there wasn't much to do, so I decided to spend some time preparing the mandarin orange segments for canning. Just then, the foreman came up to me and said "Are you taking the pith?"

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments GROAN.

Its motorbike central here today. Like Matlock Bath on rally day. But warmer and more sea. . .

That sound like fun...or, then again, possibly not!

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments WARNING - ANOTHER APPALLING JOKE COMING UP!

We went to a Garden Centre yesterday and bought a climbing plant. In all honesty, I don't think we're going to get much benefit from it. It's half-way up Ben Nevis at the moment.

The Granny is fighting back. You can't keep an old girl down!

message 1194: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments After the incredible success of the Jambalaya launch (cue hollow laughter)my cup now runneth over in that I've received a 1 star review for Steady Past Your Granny'son the grounds that the font keeps changing and makes it unreadable! Having sold over 5,200 copies of this to date, I find this a bit surprising to say the least. My Dad used to say he'd "shot a robin" when things were going this well ;-)

Anyone else had any problems with SPYG?

Sorry! Bit of a whinge there. Was just astounded to get a 1 star review after all this time, particularly for those reasons. [now breathe deeply, and relax]

Could you have answered the question?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments i still can't!

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "i still can't!"

Nope, I doubt that I could these days. What chance would a 7 year old have, I wonder?

message 1200: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Ok, it's appalling joke time again:

I ordered a trampoline for my grandson, but I don't think much of it. I've just got this queue of vagrants at my door.
