Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments According to my countdown clock, only 18 days, 6 hours and 42 minutes to go to Jambalaya!

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Now 15 days, 11 hours and 26 minutes. Doesn't time fly when you're enjoying yourself ;-)

You may regret that...Ulolulo's views on cooking err on the piscine side ;-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Well I like seafood and fish. I had sushi for lunch.

That's my cat's name. She wouldn't appreciate it, I can tell you.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I am pretty sure it was dead fish I was eating, rather than live (and furious) cat. No clawmarks for one thing!

message 1058: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments I'll have to check. I haven't seen her for a while.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments She's probably out shredding seagulls or something.

message 1060: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Seagulls?? I have the distinction of living in a part of England that couldn't be further from the sea, in any direction, if it tried!

She did bring a live dragonfly to the back door earlier.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I'm sure a cat of her calibre could get seagulls if she wanted to!

You're right. She would probably have them delivered.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments She could probably make do with homing pigeons though.

She's just turned up, so I think we can safely say that she avoided being your lunch. As for the dragonfly...

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments It will probably never fly again. So sad...

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "It will probably never fly again. So sad..."

Well, I don't know. It was trying and it has now gone. Where it's gone is, of course, another matter.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Would a cat like Sushi with her furious ninja claws let her prey escape?

message 1068: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Actually, she does have a track record of bringing them back alive. I think she loses interest. Apart from flies. She's red-hot on flies.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments have you ever seen a lizard eat a daddy-long-legs?

message 1070: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "have you ever seen a lizard eat a daddy-long-legs?"

I have to confess, that pleasure has eluded me to date (you'll have to excuse me, I've been reading a lot of P.G. Wodehouse and I've gone a bit Jeeves as a consequence).

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I have an enduring memory (well it has endured from my teens) of a small, bright green lizard, with a mouth full of daddy-long-legs and legs sticking out squirming everywhere...

Yes, I can see how that would live with you.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I used to sit in my lounge watching lizards eat roaches.

Boring here. All I've seen so far are ants.

Don't talk to me about ants! We've been fighting a losing battle with them in the kitchen for weeks.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I had a major ant problem, the I got a little thing that contains pieces of poison. The theory is that they carry the pieces back to the nest and poison the queen. Well I haven't seen an ant in the house since...

Perhaps they're all wearing invisibility cloaks? We're a bit limited with regard to pesticides what with a toddler about the place, and the aforementioned Sushi.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments this is a little white container that I slipped under the cupboard. It has holes in it just big enough for an ant. Out of sight, out of reach...

That sounds good. Our problem was that they were coming from multiple sites, some hidden, some not.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Geoff told me to get some boric acid from the chemists, mix it with a bit of sugar and leave it scattered about on tin lids.

They take it back to the nest and it kills them from there. Sounds like what you're using, GL.

Ants were terrible in my kitchen on the island. Couldn't leave any food out at all or itdbe crawling.

It's sterile here. Have seen exactly one fly. Not even flies around the bins outside. I expect it's too dry.

I've heard of that before. Must remember it for next year.

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Yet another random quote from my forthcoming book, Jambalaya:

"Look son,” Ulolulo said, kindly, “If you’re going to be hangin’ round here some, you’re going to have to get used to the idea that most of the house only exists kinda in theory, if you get my drift? Figger that and you’ll do jest fine. I’ll tell the young Miss, you wait here.”

A few minutes later, Ulolulo reappeared in the doorway. Richard was standing, staring intently at an area of thin air. Ulolulo coughed discreetly.

“I was just admiring this painting,” Richard said, indicating the patch of thin air, “I do like landscapes.”

“You’re getting the idea sho’ nuff, ‘cept that’s a portrait. Mizz Garden will see you now.”

Only on the next one ;-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments How long will we have to wait for that one?

About 12 years if this one is anything to go by ;-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments By that stage we will be reading by direct brain feed anyway!

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments I've just checked my statistics on my Facebook page (it's one of the super-powers I was granted on getting 30 Likes) and it appears that nobody's talking about me! So how come my ears are burning?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Who has been licking your ears? With horseradish on their tongues?

You're developing a fixation there, GL. How so unlike our own dear Queen ;-)

You don't want to know what they lick. But it's usually an anagram of ears.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments sear? rase? no, i give up...
