It doesn't take a lot, Patti!
I really hope I'm doing the right thing in publishing this ;-)

I've got my fingers crossed. Makes it a devil to type though ;-)

Spent the last few days going through the text with a fine toothcomb (which makes a mess of the laptop). As it has been a few years now since I last read the MS all the way through, it has been quite a revelation. From time to time I've thought 'I know what joke I would put in here now' and have been relieved to find that I've already done it. However, one joke did catch me off guard and made me laugh out loud. I can't remember writing it, but I'm pleased I did. Is it a sign of madness to start laughing at your own jokes?

Only joking, GL. My university teaches in Azerb..., I've always resisted the temptation to go there.

I think I'll give it a miss, thanks! BTW thanks for commenting on Amazoo.

There's only one place you're going to find lines like this:

on day three of being in Baku Phil and must say its truly lovely so far. have already met a great many azeri and have never felt so embraced and welcomed anywhere else in the world that I've been. stark contrast to Nigeria, must say. :-)

Thanks Patti and I'm really glad that it's going well for you. I guess I'm just not one of life's intrepid travellers ;-)

Well, that makes two of us, Emma. We'll have to see if it's infectious ;-)

Emma - I'm sure I've asked you this before, but I can't find the answer. I'm putting together the title page for Jambalaya and I obviously want to credit your cover illustration. Is there a website or anything you would like me to include?

what about the new naughty stuff you are going to write?

Thanks Philip! And not so much naughty stuff as very amusing and unbelievable Internet dating experiences! (ok, so maybe some naughty stuff too but not the main plan!)
But I do not write so it will probably not come to anything, but an idea nonetheless!

Everybody writes! The trick is just to get it down on paper (or the equivalent these days) and not worry about how it sounds or looks. Just write and deal with the finer points later.

Do a blog. It's great fun.

Yes, that's a good idea. You'll also get some idea of what your readers think of your work.

"It was a whirlwind romance. He kissed her in a hurricane. Well, he kissed something in a hurricane and, on average, it could have been Celany."

"he would henceforth be Private Dick Verucca, which made him sound either like a Private Investigator for the Chiropody Service or an unfortunate medical condition he wanted to keep quiet."

have a kiss on the forehead and a cookie"
This is getting better all the time. I've already got the promise of carrot cake from DD!
The worrying thing is that it just happened, I didn't do anything to cause it.

I expect it's really painful too. :("
It's better now that it has been relocated. That "gas and air" stuff is great! Makes it almost worth getting pregnant.

Sounds like you're still enjoying the effects!
When are you due? ;)"
Same time as I win the lottery and Hell freezes over, apparently.

"Their eyes had met across a crowded room.
Their noses had squashed together and her chin had stuck in his epiglottis.
It was a very crowded room."

Indeed!
Emma - if you're about at all, can you send me an email? I've just changed my PC and I've lost your email address.
