Philip (sarah) wrote: "I will certainly buy it Philip, are you still on track for a pre christmas release?"Thanks a lot. I'm in a bit of a quandary now because I hadn't intended to publish this one at all! Hmmm.
Patti (A Proud Canadian) wrote: "Well that's just silly Phil.Of course publish it."
I'll be guided by you, Patti ;-)
It will need to be properly formatted and I'll need a cover of some sort...decisions, decisions!
Patti (A Proud Canadian) wrote: "How about you do the blurb first, then we can help you with cover ideas? That'd be fun!"
Ok, it's a deal! As this has already been touted around a number of publishers and literary agents (albeit, many years ago) there should be a blurb somewhere. I'll dig it out.
I've just posted the final excerpt on my blog. This may evoke a groan or two ;-)Blurb to follow here shortly.

Found the blurb! It’s a time of Civil War. A time of cowboys and soldiers, riverboats and gamblers, genteel Southern Belles and dark deeds.
Celany Garden had it all – big house, doting wealthy parent and not one but two devoted lovers. So why is she being pursued by some particularly inept kidnappers, what has happened to her maid and where does an Army Major who thinks he’s called Agnes fit into all of this? Can Celany find the answers before the law, the army and a particularly enthusiastic posse? Everything hinges on a flatulent little horse called Thunder, a General who hates loud noises and a psychopathic Marshall with a penchant for torture. Gone with the Wind was never like this!
HeHeHe,that makes me smile especially the army major who thinks he's called Agnes. It sounds a hoot!Is it a short or full length novel Philip?

It's about 80,000 words in length.
I've just realised that, in reformatting the excerpts for the blog, I've missed off the footnotes. Corrected now ;-)www.philwhiteland.blogspot.co.uk
Patti (A Proud Canadian) wrote: "Love it, love it, love it!I think the cover might require a horse on it..."
My thoughts exactly, Patti. I suppose, in an ideal world, it would look something like the covers for the Tom Sharpe books?
Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "More uncontrolled giggles... which was a bit of a problem as I was also trying to eat grapes..."Pips everywhere then, GL?
Do you mean cartoon type pictures, Phil? I hope so, cuz that is what I'm thinking.Bright primary colours, I think.

Yes, I think that would suit the silliness of the content. The problem is, I'm not in the least bit artistic!
I'm sure we have a artist somewhere in this group! And no, they were seedless grapes, thank goodness ;)
I think you can download copyright free images Philip.Says she who doesn't know one end of a computer from the other!
I think it calls for an Agony Aunt thread, I do, I do!You could call it 'Where do you get your cover art', Phil.
By the way, if you haven't already got this, there's some good stuff in here, and it's free this weekend:https://www.facebook.com/permalink.ph...
Hi Phil,I like your blurb, but it might be stronger without the adjectives (hope you don't mind me mentioning).

Or an Agnes.

Thanks for taking the time and trouble to suggest this. The blurb and everything else are still the same as when I abandoned the project back in 2000, so a revisit is probably necessary.
I've been trying out a few possible reviews for this (as yet) unpublished book ;-)https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?...
Is this the book you want a cover for? If so, will go over the last few posts and see if I can come up with a cover idea :-)

GL - thanks for the input.
Just posted a link to the excerpts on Sagazone so we'll see what they think about it all. So far, not so good ;-)
Patti (A Proud Canadian) wrote: "I tried, honest. My brain doesn't seem to be working today."You and me both, Patti.
Ok - whose turn was it to have the brain cell? I need it to understand some complicated stuff at work and I'm having problems...
So, I have been having a doodle! Is this Thunder, the Flatulent Horse? http://www.goodreads.com/photo/group/...I have also had a go at Agnes, the Army Major and will add that in a minute. I have used Royalty Free art as a template (can't draw cartoons from my head!)
Edit, just realised that sounds like I traced the drawings. I did not. I drew them but had a couple of piccies up on my computer screen to use as inspiration!
The Southern Belle (rest assured she now has a face - faces are so hard!!)http://www.goodreads.com/photo/group/...
