My Mum had a really infectious laugh and tears would run down her face when she went into 'kinks'as we used to say.Thankfully I have her on video and watch it when the mood takes me.She loved a wee sherry.

Like my mum, I used to find that some things would just convulse me with laughter to the point where I would fall off the chair. Sadly, nothing much seems to do the trick these days (probably me getting older and things getting less funny). Two things have had that effect in recent times. One was a classic one-liner from the fabulous Milton Jones "When my grandfather became ill, they rubbed his back with goose grease. Of course, he went down hill quite quickly after that" and the other was a paragraph in a Bill Bryson book the other day, which I had to give up reading because I couldn't see for the tears in my eyes. I wish I could write like that.
Now that Barack Obama's "chuffed to bits", I wonder if I can look forward to a huge surge in transatlantic sales of
? ;-)

You mean by Dr. Feelgood?
With Mothering Sunday looming large on the horizon, can I humbly suggest that a duck might be an acceptable gift?
Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "Quack."I'm not sure how to take that! It's a good job I'm not a Doctor.
By the way, to any fellow fans of 'Baby Jake' - how come the penguin quacks?
Patti (Perky Pineapple) wrote: "He used the term 'chuffed to bits'?That's odd."
He use various English colloquialisms while welcoming David Cameron - a bit liked when Jimmy Carter said "Haway the lads" in County Durham.
Just finished reading
Your experiences with swimming are similar to mine - although I managed to get out of several months of swimming lessons by having a verruca. I can picture myself & two other classmates playing Monopoly during the swimming lesson time. It can't have been a regular thing, but I can't remember any other tasks we were left doing.
As for the queue in the doctor's - ours was the same. I once beat the queue though. I was taken to the secretary's room and hurried through the waiting room when it was my turn, with the lady keeping all the other patients out of the way by shouting "Keep back - infectious case coming through"
Does anyone else think it's odd that on St George's Day (April 23rd) we are supposed to wear a rose? If you have a rose in flower in April you live in Ispahan!

Why can't we have a national anthem like the Italian one instead of that miserable one we have?

Hope you enjoyed it Jay-me. I nurtured a verruca for ages to keep me away from swimming ;-)
Currently working on a new cover for
as I'm concerned that the current one looks a bit like what Dara O'Briain has called the "Daddy, Don't!" style of writing. You'll see the proposed new version here first.
Not a bad idea Phil. Now you mention it, does look rather like that. Hadn't considered it before.I'm looking forward to a sneaky peek!
Thanks, doll!
I avoid misery memoir! I don't think that you're cover looks too much like that - there are some awful ones on amazon with crying children on the front, I always avoid those. I can see how it must be cathartic to write these memoirs but I have enough to be depressed about without giving myself more reasons!

Ok, I've got it! Just need to upload it to my blog now, so that you can take a look at it and throw brick-ends at it ;-)
Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "I don't have any brick-ends, can I use grapes instead."You can, but I may be inclined to tread them!
no these are just ordinary black grapes. Some just fell into my backpack and now I can't find them. I think there is a black hole in there as things disappear quite often.
It's nice -but I actually prefer the orginal cover...

Thanks for the feedback, Karen. We'll have to see what the majority think.
Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "I prefer it to the original, but I'm not sure..."This is going well, isn't it ;-)
Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "Sorry - that wasn't a lot of help, was it?!"All comments gratefully received, GL.
I don't like it. There, I said it.Sorry, Phil. :(
I'm happy to give you a list of reasons why if you like, but I'd rather tell you in pm, if you want to hear them...

Thanks Patti. It would be useful to know, if you don't mind.
Now comes complete with voting buttons, so you can vent your spleen (they can't touch you for it) completely anonymously and with the minimum of effort.Seriously, I really would be grateful for your opinion.
