August - Pick It For Me! Challenge
Haha, I didn't start it yet. I was waiting a bit for your answer and instead just finishing another book. But, well, I'm glad you want it! I've never done buddy read before (I know, I know, a shame), so I don't really know which alternative is the best. Any suggestions?
Buddy reads are fun! Usually I'll post where I'm at in the book and my thoughts once a day. Sometimes that varies, but I try to do it at least once.I'll start a thread for it, just in case other people decide to join in! I'll post the link here for you when I'm done.
Here is the thread link to our buddy read: Leaving Paradise by Simone Elkeles!http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/6...
@ kami: i finished Naked in Death today and giving it 4 stars. it was great, it kept me glued to the pages from first moment and i love it how it's different from other nora books yet it's completely her style - her love for ireland is in the front again. can't wait to read the next in series. (: thank you for your rec!
@ AshleyAlexis Finished
. Erin McCarthy is turning into a fav author. It was refreshing to see a hearing impaired character. The plot was well paced and the dialogue witty. It was a quick read, but a good one. Thanks for the Rec!
Mouth to Mouth is my fav. Erin McCarthy books, and is in the top ten of my fav. romance books ever!!!

I'm starting now.
Taking Care of Business
Dee wrote: "hi Becky - I finished up listening to Seduction in Death today - I think it is one of my favorites so far - I love some of the curse words and descriptions that were used, especially ..."Dee, so happy you found something you enjoyed!!
Lisa,So far it is pretty good. I enjoy the visuals. What do you think? I'll be more detailed as I get into it. :)
I finished another pick Unearthly by Cynthia Hand. I really liked this one and gave it four stars. I didn't like the way it ended without resolving anything and ending with more questions to be answered. Then I figured it was because it is the beginning of a series, but the second book doesn't come out till next year! Boo! One more series I have to read. I hate cliffhanger endings!
i'm listening to Ruthless right now and loving it to - i've already added the rest of the books in the series to the listBecky wrote: "Dee wrote: "hi Becky - I finished up listening to Seduction in Death today - I think it is one of my favorites so far - I love some of the curse words and descriptions that were used,..."
Hi Julie,I finished Hunting Ground and it was a good read. I like the way Anna and Charles' relationship developed and grown. Anna with some help were overcoming her past but still retained some of her vulnerability and innocence.
Diane ~Firefly~ wrote: "Debbie,I'm planning to start The Fairy-Tale Detectives next week if you still want to do the buddy read."
Ready, Set, Go .... I am planning to start tonight, you? :)

I'm finishing up another book, but it is a re-read, so I'll probably at least read a few chapters so I don't fall too far behind. :)
I finally finished my buddy read with Heather - Grave Dance. I gave it ***1/2. The first book is still far better and I'm hoping the third book will be much better. I'm still invested in the series.
I finished Acheron. Some of themes in that book were rough. Apparently, castration = not fun. Thanks for motivating me to read it, Cathy C.
Just finished
. It was good, made me actually like Xhex and that was the big reason I put off reading the book for so long. (I had skipped it to read the most recent
.) The whole sub plot of the "ghostbusters" and Murhder wasn't interesting to me and just added to the hefty weight of words in this book. It only reinstated my thoughts that these books are getting way to long for me to enjoyment. 4 starsThank you Cathy for the push/pick to read it this month.
Completed for August:
As BR:
Finally managed to finish Before I Fall and I was surprised that I really liked it in the end because I just hated the first one third of the book.

Tugce NidaGlad to hear you ended up liking Before I Fall.
Elijah, Jacquelyn Frank, 8-22-11 I finished another rec last night. It wasn't as good as the first two books, but I'm still planning on continuing the series.
I finished my buddy read Taking Care of Business. I really enjoyed Nix and Kate's story. Leah and Brandon's didn't do as much for me.
Mandy wrote: "I finished Acheron. Some of themes in that book were rough. Apparently, castration = not fun. Thanks for motivating me to read it, Cathy C."Ohhh that's one of my alltime faves. Ash's story is heartbreaking true, which makes me want to wrap him up and keep him.

KarenH, I'm still on hold for Kiss of Crimson. It's been saying I'm next in line for the past week soooo I should be getting it any day now *sigh*
Shellebelle I finished
The Warlord Wants Forever on 8/21/11 and give it 4 1/2 stars. Really enjoyed it. I am looking forward to the next in the series. I am also almost finished with Soulless on audio.
Joyce wrote: "Shellebelle I finished

I chose it to read for a challenge and hadn't even thought about listening instead even though I read about half my books that way!
Katie wrote: "Gigi -- thanks for picking The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie for me. i really enjoyed it - 4 stars. i'm going to go get the rest of the series now :)"Katie! I'm soooo glad you enjoyed it!!!! Ian is pretty awesome!
Hey Elke, I finished Changeless last night, I really enjoyed it, I gave it 4 stars because I think Soulless was slightly better but I have heard the 3rd book is really good and I have to get it now after the cliffhanger at the end of this book. Thankyou for recommending it :)
I finished Vision in White. It wasn't my favorite Nora Roberts book but it was good. I gave it three stars. I am also half way through Faking It. So far so good. :)
I finished Rocky Mountain Heat today and I liked it, but I'm looking forward to reading the new version that is being released in a couple of months - I think it will really benefit from the expansion. I've had this on my TBR for 2 years or longer, so thanks for the nudge to read it, Dee!
Diane ~Firefly~, that buddy read was (The Fairy Tale Detectives) was so cute, I didn't want to put it down - so I didn't. I finished it quickly it surprised me. I gave it a 4, just because I thought it was so cute. Hoping you are enjoying it too.
Isabella, I finished The Book Thief this morning. I loved it! Great choice!!! I have no internet until sometime next week so I'm on my phone now but I'll post a review later and see how you are doing with it then.
Katie wrote: "i loved ian! i hope the next books are good, too :)"Me too! Im dying to read about the other brothers!
Finished my 3rd pick Runaway Mistress. Nice story. More emotional and the characters deeper than I expected. I'm glad this was a pick. Robyn Carr seems to know how to grip a reader from the beginning of her books and sustain the interest through to the ending.
Pollyanna wrote: "Hey Elke, I finished Changeless last night, I really enjoyed it, I gave it 4 stars because I think Soulless was slightly better but I have heard the 3rd book is really good and I hav..."I am so glad you enjoyed it Pollyanna!
I finished Up on the Housetop, my buddy read with Dee. It was just ok, not a waste of time, but nothing special either. Another case of a short story/novella that really needed to be 50-100 pages longer to flesh out the storyline and descriptions. Thanks for all the great recs, Dee!
Debbie wrote: "Diane ~Firefly~, that buddy read was (The Fairy Tale Detectives) was so cute, didn't want to put it down - so I didn't. I finished it quickly it surprised me. Penney wrote: "KimK, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for the push to read The Help. I know I would still be looking at it from the corner of my eye for a very long time. I absolutely LOVED it!"Penney, thank YOU as well, so glad we buddy read this (though I was a little slower then you!!). I loved it too and am so glad I finally got around to reading it!
Lethal,I know I won't finish another one of your recs by month end, but wanted to let you know I put Perfect on hold at the library, so looking forward to that too!
Kim
Finished Soulless today 8/27/11. I give it 4 stars.
@MountainKat I really enjoyed the audiobook. It is very well done. The narrator really brings the different characters to life. I will probably listen to the next one if it is done by the same narrator.

Thanks for he feedback Joyce! I think I will try it it in audio, got to use those audible credits before too many pile up! I tend to buy in spurts, and there hasn't been one in a while! =)

I decided to start our buddy read Leaving Paradise, so if you want catch up with me and read together, just let me know!"
I'll start it! How far are you on it?
I'll try to keep up, but I homeschool my kids and school starts tomorrow. I have a lot of preparations to do! I really want to read this though, so I will try. Do you want to talk about it here or PM or a thread?
