I finished Definitely Dead by Charlaine Harris. Not one of my favorite Sookie books. The story was kind of everywhere and there weren't any sexy scenes. I gave it three stars. Maybe the next book has more sexy scenes?

Finished Secrets of a Summer Night, Cathy. Don't shoot me, but I wasn't a big fan and it primarily surrounded me never really liking Annabelle's character. She drove me batty a lot. Simon had more patience with her than I would have. lol I gave it 3.5 stars, for it was written well and Lisa Kleypas did a great job pulling me into Annabelle's world.
Not sure which I'll be picking up next, probably Lover Mine.
Completed for August:
as BR
Lisa,I finished Nineteen Mintues. The ending really upset me. I knew Peter would have to go to jail, but i don't know.=P Thanks for a great recommendation. And, we can start the buddy read.
Heather - Secrets of a Summer Night was probably my least fav. of the series - in fact, after I read it, I didn't pick up any Kleypas for a while (maybe close to a year), and then I read It Happened One Autumn, saw that secrets came before it...and went back to read it...my opinion changed some but no lots

Really?! You liked it better than Lover Awakened?

I got my hands on a Chasing Fire so when would you like to start it? I'm off work Monday So i'm game for ASAP ^.^

Do you want to read a certain amount of pages each day or just read it individually and post comments each day?
Thenia, I finished Some Girls Bite. I'll be continuing with the series some time this week. I'm interested to see where Ms. Neill takes the series. Thank you for the recommendation.I have The Amulet of Samarkand sitting here. Not sure if I'll get to it this month or not as I've been on a romantic suspense kick and a Lori Foster kick.
AshleyAlexis wrote: "I got my hands on a Chasing Fire so when would you like to start it? I'm off work Monday So i'm game for ASAP ^.^ "I'm actually between audiobooks right now, finished what I was listening to last night, so immediately works great for me!
Sandy - I finished
and liked it very much. I'm definitely continuing the series soon. I just love Seth!I'll definitely read one of your other recommendations this month...I just need to figure out which one. :)
Thanks again for the recs!
Jim - i'll try to get the books out to you this week - fingers crossed that I don't go jumping off the deep end ;)
hi Becky - I finished up listening to Seduction in Death today - I think it is one of my favorites so far - I love some of the curse words and descriptions that were used, especially by peabodyI also started listening to Ruthless today - so far so good ;)

Actually Amy, this may sound abnormal but I don't call myself a fan of Zadist :) On the other hand I love Rehv and JM :) I know I'm weird ;) but I enjoyed Lover Awakened it was good :) I actually enjoy all books in the series even Lover Unleashed I enjoyed even though i find it the least satisfactory one in all.
I finished my second book, Cut & Run, last night (or I guess I should say early this morning). I don't think it quite lived up to its 4+ star rating (I gave it 3.5 stars), but I did enjoy it, and I'll definitely be reading the other books in the series. Thanks for the recommendation, Dee!
Cathy C, I finished Naked in Death. I really, really liked it. *sigh* Roarke. So, who's going to lend me the next 30 billion books in the series? ;-)
Heather wrote: "Finished Secrets of a Summer Night, Cathy. Don't shoot me, but I wasn't a big fan and it primarily surrounded me never really liking Annabelle's character. The other heroines' personalities are very different from Annabelle's.
Lady Allison St VincentI know I'm behind in starting this challenge, but I've been waiting to get the books from the library. I am picking up Taking Care of Business on Tuesday if you still want to do a buddy read. I have Darkfever, Blue-Eyed Devil, and The Help to start on next.

Sorry I must have misunderstood you in an earlier conversation. Or I may have confused you with someone else. Or I may be loosing my mind. Either way, my appologies.

What's the appologies for? :) Ok, he is my fav when Rehv and JM had to be out of equation ;) I like them all except for Butch, I just don't like him much and maybe Vishous not really fond of him either ;)
Photojim wrote: "Thenia, I finished Some Girls Bite. I'll be continuing with the series some time this week. I'm interested to see where Ms. Neill takes the series. Thank you for the recommendatio..."Glad you liked it Jim, they get better further on.
Enjoy your romantic suspense kick! The amulet will still be there for you to read when you're ready for it. ;)
Dee, when you do, you do. Have a stack of 600+ on Mt. ToBeRead that just keeps growing as it is. What's worse is that I hit a Waldenbooks with the 50% off on romance books yesterday. $50 later I'm wondering where my self control went to.Thenia, I'm looking forward to it. Couldn't help but notice the similarities between this and a few other vampire series though.
Ari, I would rather read it and post comments as we go..Some days I read ALOT and some days I don't get as much reading in...so I never know how much to "allow" myself to read for one day.
@ Jim - self-control - what is that??? lol! I have to locate book 3 - I have 2 and 4 on the desk, but 3 is hiding out - when I find it i'll get them in the mail
KimK, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for the push to read The Help. I know I would still be looking at it from the corner of my eye for a very long time. I absolutely LOVED it!
Hey Photojim, so I finished One Foot in the Grave yesterday, thanks for the little push. I liked it but for some reason Cat didn't seem to catch me like the last one. Bones has still got it all over the place, but Cat came across as a whining little brat. She got on my nerves acting like a 5 year old not getting her own way - remember what happens when someone gets on her last nerve (the kitchen was destroyed). I will still read the next, eventually, but I just hope that Cat can grow up some now that .....(don't want to give spoilers - it kind of seemed a big deal and no one let it slip to me that it was coming, liked it being a surprise)... you know.
Debbie wrote: "Hey Photojim, so I finished One Foot in the Grave yesterday, thanks for the little push. I liked it but for some reason Cat didn't seem to catch me like the last one. Bones has sti..."Hi Debbie, I was just curious to know if you read One Foot in the Grave or if you listened to it on audio. I read the series first then thought I'd try it on audio, but I felt the narrator made Cat sound whiney and girlish just as you described. I always found her to be totally kick-ass so I ended up chucking the audio. A bit of a waste that, but what are ya gonna do :)
lol, I did actually listen to it on audio, but it wasn't the narrator - I can put up with a lot in that line - it was the petty stuff like her saying the past is the past but I am going to kick your butt anyways, she was the one that left him (stupidly) and the some of the idiotic decisions she made just because she didn't want to even ask for others opinions. She reminded me of when my kid throws a fit (the words, not the voice).
Tugce Nida,I just finished Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde. While I usually really like Fforde's books, I didn't really care for this one. It seemed too long for what it was and I just wanted to get through it. Oh well. I love his other series though!
I did also read The Warlord Wants Forever earlier this month and enjoyed that!
And I picked up A Lot Like Love from my library as well. So hopefully I'll finish that this month, too!
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
1. Finished: 8/15/2011
2. Rating: *****
3. Review: This was definately pretty dark, but I really liked it! There were plenty of unexpected twists and turns and it was very enjoyable, if depressing. Glad I finished the series and I'm not ready for the movies! :)

I am so glad you liked it! :-)
Debbie wrote: "lol, I did actually listen to it on audio, but it wasn't the narrator - I can put up with a lot in that line - it was the petty stuff like her saying the past is the past but I am going to kick you..."Lol! I agree, that's one of Cat's biggest flaws, doing things without talking it through first. I think Bone's may even mention it a time or two in future books. If she'd just open her mouth and ask first, she wouldn't get in so much trouble.

I actually love these books in audio! I listened before I read though, in fact I haven't actually read them because I enjoy the audio so much!
Debbie, One of the things I like about Cat is that she doesn't trust anyone for quite some time. She'd been screwed over by everyone that she ever cared about so she keeps her own council, even when she doesn't know what she's talking about. Just one of her characteristics and I like the character for it. I hope you do continue, but if you don't know that she does eventually learn to trust.
Hi Debbie - I'm in your camp - I find Cat immature and whingy at times too :) But I love the action - so I keep reading...!
Penney, I wanted to let you know I finally finished Secrets of a Summer Night today and I loved it. It says I started last week, but I actually read basically non-stop from the beginning last night. I don't usually go for the London Aristocrat historical romances. I prefer the Wild West with the hard working cowboys. ;) But this book was absolutely wonderful! I cannot wait until I have time to read the rest of the series. Thank you for a great suggestion!
Yay Lexa! That makes me feel good, so thank you. I personally think they just get better with each installment, so I hope you keep reading :-)
oh yeah, the plan is to continue the series, I didn't have as much of a problem with her in the first book, maybe it was just my mood didn't want to put up with it as much as last time, or maybe she was just worst. I am still glad I read it. Especially loved the ending more than the ending of the first book.
Hey, Shell!I finished Rode Hard, Put Up Wet. I liked Cash & Gemma's story, but Carter & Macie kind of got on my nerves. their relationship was hot, yes, but the constant back-and-forth between the two got to me. And Carter was a tool near the end. Hope these two grow some if we see more of them together.
Hope that wasn't too spoiler-ish.
I wil try and see if I can squeeze Heat Stroke into my reading this month. And if Blood Bound is out early, then we can do that buddy read.
Pollyanna, I have finished Vampire Crush..I really enjoyed the book, I really liked the character of James. It kind of got slow at the end, but not enough that I didn't want to finish it.. I gave it 3 stars our of 5.

Hey Alberta Jean! Glad you liked some of the the book. That one is on my TBR for another challenge. I cheated and flipped through it and saw how Carter & Macie were brats. Hopefully those parts are quick reads/skims when I finally read it. :)
I have to say that Gemma/Cash; Carter/Macie is probably my least favorite book in the seriesbut shell - enjoy faith and fidelity - they were my almost m/m virgin books - i'd only read 1 other before them
Cathy, don't worry, I totally understand about waiting for books to come in! I'd love to do the buddy read with you whenever you're ready, just let me know! :D
