Arti it was sad at some parts

message 53: by Cary (new) - rated it 5 stars

Cary I love the movie, the effects, the sound and the lines. I was kind of frustrated though because some parts that I thought it would be essential to be part of the movie were removed or changed drastically.

message 54: by Arti (new) - rated it 5 stars

Arti right?!?!?!

Carita We all knew that all of the important parts, or the parts we think are important wouldn't make the movie, and no true fan of the books would be 100% happy.

Personally?: Didn't cry, did get a happy shiver at Mrs. Weaslys line. The Voldemort hug? Werid! I was hoping they would reveal a little more about Dumbeldore in general, with the Hallows and family stuff but, oh well.

Movie overall?: It was good I guess. I'm glad I read the books and have a more deep understanding of the story line, than the people who just watch the movies.

I totally agree about reading the books. The one thing that pissed me off:

THE ELDER WAND!!! I was waiting for the whole scene with the repair of his old wand NOT the whole:

"So whose wand is it now?"
"Mine." ***SNAP*** (sound of Harry breaking the wand in 2 and throwing it off the edge)

I swear, I was so close to pushing him off that stupid ledge that he was standing on.

But, on happier note, besides everyone in the theatre reading aloud the words "19 years later" (Gawd, that pissed me off so much. I'm like "People! Read in your head!") How funny was it to see everyone dressed up as grown ups? Tom Felton as Malfoy had me laughing for at least 10 minutes.

Sara I LOVE THIS MOVIEEE!!!!! unfortunately im also slightly depressed because its over. this has been my childhood and now its done. fred is gone and snape!! :( i cried at random parts just because i knew what was about to happen......R.I.P Fred, Tonks, Lupin, + Snape T.T

I know! Voldemort hugging was just to awkward! Even for Voldemort!

Abbey Wangler I saw this movie on opening day and it was EPIC! They finioshed Harry Potter the perfect way.

message 60: by Kate (new) - rated it 2 stars

Kate I have to agree with the people who were disappointed. I couldn't believe how wrong some of the details were. Again, I understand a 700+ page book can't be recapped with all of the details, but atleast keep them true to the book.

Two things really peeved me:
The fight between Voldemort and Harry. There was no fantastic wand waving, no jumping off of cliffs, or anything all "action movie like" in there. There was tension, thought, and intrigue, which the movie completely missed.

HARRY SNAPPED THE ELDER WAND!?!?!?!?! Did no one else think that the "most powerful wand in the world" shouldn't be snapped and thrown over the edge of the castle?? I just don't know why they couldn't have followed the details in the book, and taken it to the headmasters office to talk to Dumbledore.

Not to mention all the tiny details like: where is Teddy Lupin?, why do they still have Basilisk fangs?, what was that building that was supposed to be the shrieking shack?

And I cried for a long time in the book when Harry used the resurrection stone, but the movie just left me wanting more there.

Sorry about the rant, but I have needed it.

I know! Harry was supposed to put the Elder Wand behind Dumbledore's portrait! He didn't SNAP it in half! And thay didn't show him fixing his Phoenix Wand!!!!! ARRGGHHH!

✌ Kaye ♡ Maja wrote: "Its not that the movie was a bad one, but it was just soo blah... But I also have to say I didn't enjoy the last book that much either... I found it boring and way too long and it took me some time to get through..."

Same! The books and movies downgraded as the series went along. I forced myself through book 7 because it was the finale and everyone spoke about how great it was... It was so slowwwww. Half of the book could've been thrown out. And that was a pitiful excuse for an epilogue. Book 7 could've been 1 movie but of course they want our $$$.

Movie = 3/5 Stars

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) 7th part 1: 3 and 3 quarters/5
7th Part 2 Movie: 4/5 7th Book 5/5

Carita I know! He was supposed to repair his wand. And I really wanted the Harry and Voldemort fight to be in front of everyone, my favorite part in the book is when Harry totally makes a fool out of Voldemort.

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) Yeah! I.K.R.? (I am bored so....I LOVE DOCTOR WHO! I LOVE DOCTOR WHO! I LOVE IT SO MUCH I KEEP ON ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT IT AND RANT ON ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!)

Kyle Loved the movie, but I wish they would have stayed to the actual storyline more closely

message 71: by Olivia (new)

Olivia I just cames back from the movie today. It was slow in the beginning. I was afraid it would be as boring as part 1. But I was wrong. I loved it so much. What made it better was it was in 3-D.
Snape's death scene and his memories made me cry a little. I did think the fighting went on for a little too long. Some parts didn't make sense to me because I hadn't read the seventh book yet. (I will soon)
That awkward hug with Malfoy and Voldemort cracked me up xD

Racheal Renwick I was personally disappointed. They left out some really good parts in the end. Over all it was good, and I was happy, but I still wished they would have taken five minutes and put the end together better.

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) Yeah. I am happy with it too. But I feel kinda the same way.

Aisha Oh I really loved the movie! Apart from the fact that they didn't do ANYTHING for Fred's death. And there I was so ready to cry..

Nicole Otting My friend and our husbands went to see it and LOVED it. It's been a long time since I've read the books...so I'm a little confused on something and maybe you guys can help me...

Why exactly is Snape called the Half-Blood Prince?

My parents have the book set and I can get to them right now to re-read to find what I missed! (or forgot somehow)

Love love loved! This movie!!!!

I agree, my favorite too. I read the book only twice, but the last conversation between Harry and Voldermort more than 15 times. I was so expecting that in the movie and disappointed to see Harry explain the part to Hermioni and Ron eventually. Even though I disagree some parts of the movie, I try to understand movie makers. I believe that they have shown some actions and heroism, because movie watchers expect a hero so badly. Irrespective of the heroism, I believe we readers love the plot, details, and flow of story. It was my understanding. Please, correct me if I am wrong.

Kelli Vera wrote: "I agree. None of the conversations were as good as in the books. I filled in the gaps myself, but for me too it was a huge let down. I also got annoyed by all the small details they changed. Like the first scene in the bank where the gold didn't burn them like in the book, or where Ravenclaw's diadem was hidden."

YES!! I noticed all those little details too. And the big things...it got on my nerves.

Snape is called the Half-Blood Prince because his mother's maiden name is Prince, then she married Snape's father, a muggle. So he's a half-blood. And he nick-named himself 'The Half-Blood Prince.'

Kaleigh...thank you so much! I completely forgot that part of the book! I appreciate it. :-)

message 81: by Carita (last edited Jul 22, 2011 10:29PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Carita @ Tabu, right on the money. I have a feeling they didn't want to over explain every single detail. I know people who haven't read the book and they get/like the end. The movie makeers had to find a way to not disapoint the readers and entertain the non-readers.

Bottom line, the readers get more out of the series than anyone, I'm so glad I have been part of this experience.

BTW...What the heck is Pottermore? The video said almost nothing.

I actually couldn't disagree with you more. I repeat my issues with this film, the Voldemort fight scene, and the elder wand. Rereading the last two (or so) chapters reveals how poorly they stuck to the book in this movie.

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) Nicole wrote: "Kaleigh wrote: "Nicole wrote: "My friend and our husbands went to see it and LOVED it. It's been a long time since I've read the books...so I'm a little confused on something and maybe you guys can..."

Your welcome. :) @ Vera. Yeah I know! I can understand they had to make a few changes, but, feeling the horcruxes die? Making Vlodemort HUG somebody????? I mean what's with that? Pretty humiliating to Voldemort if you ask me.

Isaac Loved Molly's line and the awkward silence when
harry falls out of Hagrid's arms.

Rachel I loved Molly's line; so glad they included it! I am let down that they didn't actually SHOW fred's actual death scene, but overall it was an epic conclusion to an excellent series. Some parts made me feel so excited, and some parts made me choke up. It was great!

message 94: by Judy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Judy Basmaji EPIC. I honestly don't think they could've come up with a better movie.I watched it yesterday and i cried and laughed more than anyone else I think people were paying more attention to me than the movie itself. I love how it really REALLY stuck to the book, and almost everything was EXACTLY the way I imagined it when I was reading the book, which is the best anyone can possibly hope for. I hate it when you read a book before the movie and then the movie comes out and it's NOTHING like you expected.
Reading the book is awesome but it's even better when you see it all come to live on screen.I was hyperventilating through the entire thing and i couldn't just sit still! I just kept telling myself: "ok breathe. Just breathe." I felt like I was gonna explode any second.
MY favourite part was Snape's death and his memories. OMFG. The director is a FREAKIN GENIUS! It was even better than the book. I broke when Harry put his hand on Snape's neck. I was practicaly sobbing by that point. I wanted to scream, scream at Snape not to die. And when he cried......
Snape cried. And I wanted to die.
I always knew he loved Lily, but I nvr paid much attention to that part. At least until the scene when Snape finds Lily dead. It was the most heartbreaking thing I have ever seen.
There were some parts I loved that they cut out, but I guess they didn't really have a choice. I really wished they could've made the movie like 6 hours long just so they can keep every little part. I really wish they kept the huge celebration part at the end. And Dumbledore's story. I wish they focused a bit more on fred's death. I mean, when I read the book, that was the part that made me cry most. Like for hours. I also wish they kept the part with the Carrows, when one of them spits at Mcgonigal and Harry reveals himself and uses the Cruciatus curse on him. That was like awesome! And the part where they all stand up against that girl who screams after Voldemort's message:"He's right there! Someone grab him!" could've been a bit more dramatic like it was in the book. But overall, the movie was kinda perfect.
They added some lines that were out of the book as well, and although I don't approve the improvisation, I can't deny they were pretty awesome.
OMFG I LOVE HARRY POTTER!! FOREVER AND ALWAYS <3

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) @ Vera. Your really mean. Judy is just saying her OPINION. I agree that she'll need to read the books again and see if her opinions the same, but hey, let's be nice. And NOBODY is a moron.

Natalie loves Orlando Bloom! Holly wrote: "I was cryin 4 most of it... It's over!!!that was the saddest part!its ovr!i hope they make a movie w/their kids in it...:)<3 hp!!!!harry potter iz life-mine!hp all the way!

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) Hm...still deciding on that.

Kelli Yea if they make a movie about the kids in it...they better do it well. Like when you make a movie based on a book, you can't always capture the awesomeness you know? Like it turns out fake or cheezy or overly dramatic or something like that. I'm not sure it'd be a great idea. They wouldn't have any books to guide the movie by, I think there'd be a 90%+ chance of totally screwing up all the movies.

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) True. I don't know it is a good decision getting my hopes up.

Celeste I'm pretty sure there's already books out about Harry's son James and his escapades at Hogwarts, just by a different author. If they made a movie, I can see them basing it on those books.
