Introducing Me

I love Nana,, Naruto,, One Piece,, and many more. I look forward to finding new series as I look around!

My name is Daisy and i love reading and watching shoujo, romance, and sometimes magical girl anime and manga! I also like listening to J-pop,especially Morning Musume!
has anyone watched/read the anime/manga Another? i absolutely loved the anime! i'm planning on reading the manga soon :)

I can't relate to most authors because I spend most of my time reading manga so I often stop by here to see what you all are discussing :D
@Daisy: I'm going to check out Another right now. My friend is in love with it so I should give it a try.

my first anime i watched was Sailor Moon (when i was five,my mom and dad bought me this VCR tape of sailor moon at the store, and i absolutely loved it! and then at 6 i watched fruits basket on the TV because a channel show it and kodocha!)
Yeah you should! though i must say,so far i JUST started reading the manga, but already have watched the anime, but so far anime it much better than the manga.

I'm watching it and it's not bad so far. It's the first anime that has held my interest from the first second in a long time. But I doubt I'll finish it. I'm not the horror type.

haha,i never really was too interested in skip beat :o
oh,and don't worry,i don't like much of horror any either, but my older brother made me watch it so i was like "well why not give it a try?" and i actually enjoyed it! well not exactly enjoy, especially with all those deaths, but i did like the anime!
i might be younger than you think i am :O i'm only 13,but i did start watching anime at a young age.

There are novelized mangas, I've seen them. I have one for Gravitation, though I have yet to read it.
Sailor Moon was on and off the air for about over a decade, so I was really surprised that you are so young Daisy! Sailor Moon isn't what people start with anymore. Though now that I'm thinking about it, they aren't starting with Pokemon anymore either. Sailor Moon was my first anime too! Yep, I even saw DBZ on Sunday mornings. I guess that dates my anime viewing as being old. haha!

haha, yeah,Sailor Moon was what i started off with :)
i also remember watching on Cartoon Network Inyusha and Naruto, and perhaps other anime, but i can't remember too much. That's true too,for some reason it makes me sad that some people don't start off with Sailor Moon or Pokemon as their first anime.
i'm kind of glad my parents bought me that VCR tape of Sailor Moon,or else i wouldn't even know about anime!
Was it the "S" movie? I think it's something like 'ice in hearts.' That's the first anime movie I bought for myself. Very exciting!
I think both of those animes still run on CN. Though I don't watch too much anime anymore, so I can't say for sure.
But I get the sad feeling you are having with others. It's as if you are missing out on a "bonding" opportunity. I felt that way when the trend went from Sailor Moon/DBZ to Pokemon/Yu Gi Oh!It's always exciting when you meet someone with similiar experiences and such. But regardless, they are classics.

My first manga was volume 1 of Honey & Clover.
Now I'm trying to catch up with all of the awesome anime and manga that I missed when I was a kid. ^.^

Wow. Death Note is a really interesting one to start on. I never got into it, but I know it's well written. You really have some catching up to do! But don't let it consume your life like it did mine for two years haha. I watched so much that I can't remember most of them.
Thanks for the heads up Ms. Bubbles! I knew that "Another" had a novel form, but I thought that was rare. I should buy one.

I don't know how you missed it, it was closing for almost a year."
aww, i am really sorry that happened! :(

i have been reading and watching manga such as sailor moon and cardcaptor sakura ;) since i was about 8-9 years old. i found a great series called library wars and negima- LOOOOVVVVEEE IT!!!

My favorite mangaka is Clamp because I've always..."
i wanted to try fruits basket for a while now. i will try to read it ASAP. and i love clamp. if you like that you will love cardcaptor sakura- a favorite classic. although its hard to find. i cant even find it in my local library.

Well, I don't think it's very common, just that they exist. I believe most people think as I do when they believe a manga isn't really a manga if it's novelized. Though, I think Scrapped Princess might be an interesting novelized read. I saw the majority of the anime, and I don't think I could handle reading it play out as a manga. But being pictureless intrigues me a bit. I know Hot Gimmick has one, but that one was less than appealing for me. Maybe we should investigate! haha
That's such good advice! While I never truly watch marathons to "catch up," it is easy to feel behind. Though I had technically started watching anime in elementary school, my exposure to it was very limited (and in lots of ways, has become limited again). It was limited to The Midnight Run (when it was a Saturday deal), and then its evolution, Adult Swim on CN. it wasn't until later that I really got to expand what I have seen.
It also wasn't until high school that I really gave manga a chance, or for that matter, had the ability to look for and obtain it. There wasn't a reason to ask to go to a comic book store when I was young. I hated reading, and would have had no idea where to start. Besides, when I was little, manga would have had a limited availablity in stores. Even with it's popularity now, it can still prove to be limited in stores.
I got sidetracked! Pacing is very important. There's no reason to try to catch up on everything right away. It'll still be there when you get to it. Besides, it's a lot more fun to talk about it when you remember it. I face that trouble when I partake in the annual read-a-thon at my library in the summer. I read all of these series, and a lot of the time I barely remember I read them.
I rambled for a while I see. oops

Those are completely different! I applaud your range, and at such an early stage too!

Yeah. Manga isn't the same when it's in novel form. But there's also a benefit for me. Sometimes, things play out better in my mind. When things are drawn out for me, it kind of spoils the mystique.
For example, I've never seen an anime better than a manga. There are a lot of theories explaining why that happens, but I personally feel like I fill in a lot of the blanks in my own mind with manga vs the anime drawing everything out for me.
But I definitely understand why no one would want to read a manga novel. Some manga artist are so good, I hardly need the translations!

It might be because it is an older one. Depending on your library's budget, there might not of been enough demand at the time it was released, or released, to purchase it. You might also like Clamp School Detectives. Such a cute story!

i personally think that manga is good in books- (except for death note- really good in movie, cartoon, and book.) and anime is good in cartoons and movies. i like initial d and hayo miyazaki movies. i guess it just depends on your taste- i grew up with both- so i have learned to love them both. :)

but i guess it depends on the person- and the manga/anime. some are really good or really bad. you should watch bleach on cartoon network. its a good manga- i like it. but i haven't read the books yet.

...Tha..."
I loved Bleach when it first began, but it's one of my least favorites now. I wish it was so much better, but I only read the manga because I want to know how this mess will end.

I also used Bleach but now I don't because the characters have lost there sense so it sort of pointless to continue to watch it

i also watch anime.
I mostly like horror manga but i'd read anything \(*_*\)
Hey, I'm Wednesday. I mostly enjoy reading shoujo manga, but I do enjoy some shounen, shounen ai/yaoi or shoujo ai/yuri, and Korean manhwa. My favorite manga series are Sand Chronicles, Papillon, Sailor Moon, Ayashi no Ceres, Boy Princess (manhwa), and Let Dai (manhwa).
I also have a shoujo manga book club on Goodreads. Feel free to join if you enjoy shoujo manga.

Hey Guys! I'm Ruth. I loooooooove manga and i think that it is the best type of book ever! Skip Beat was the first manga I ever read so I really love it!
Welcome! It's always fun to see what people started with, and how it seems to date when everything started. Haha! I'm always glad to see people who love it as much as I do!

Hi Miss Amberam!
I've eyed Luck Star for a few years. It looks cute and fun. Is it as cute and fun as it looks?
It's Sailor Moon a great one to get hooked on?! Did you get to see Samurai Pizza Cats too? I think it might have been on right around the time you would hae been watching Sailor Moon for the first time. Anyway- it's one of the ones I associate with my childhood.
Anywho-
Welcome! I'm looking forward to seeing you around.

Lucky Star is a slice of life show. So if you don't mind not having a huge plot, and sometimes just plain randomness in the show, then I'm sure you would enjoy it. =)

Yotsuba&!, is that the bread making series? Oh, wait. Nevermind. That's the one where there is a green haired girl character right?
It was a good day! I blew up lots and lots of balloons and put in a couple more job applications. Fingers crossed that something starts happening soon!
On the manga related front, I'm trying to catch up a little on my challenge. I'm over a month's worth beyond! NNooooo!
Are you doing the Manga a Day Challenge too?
