ADWD: A Long Time & a Bad Memory

It's been a while since I read these books. I wanted to do a reread but just couldn't find the time. My worry is that I'm going to get lost in A Dance with Dragons because I've forgoten so much. My solution, A Wiki of Ice and Fire on my IPhone by me the whole time I'm reading. I'm only through the prologue and I'm already finding it helpful.

What about everyone else? Did you do a reread to prepare, are you trusting your memory or do you have a website you're using to jog your memory?

I did a partial reread and some skimming.

Most of it comes back to me as I read through ADWD though.

I just made it through book 4 for the first time three days before this one came out so for me it was still fresh.

Similar story here, but it's been a month or two. If S&L weren't reading DwD, I might have waited awhile, but I'm glad to be back in the thick of Westeros and Westeros-adjacent communities.

yep, I'm the same way, I had to push through the last 3 books after i got my kindle so i was caught up not only for this book but also the TV show.

I was thinking that I might regret not re-reading the series first, but GRRM is doing a great job of refreshing my memory on everything.

I reread aFfC, but that was it. I have found it a little confusing at times since we are going back in time and paralell from the end of the last book to start this one out....but all in all pretty awesome so far.

I suggest getting the books in Audio, put them on your ipod and listen when you drive, clean the house etc if you don't have time to read them. I use audible, I like how you can upload the app to the iphone, then just download them directly to your phone or itouch.

I listened to the first 2 books via audible to prepare. Then I read the chapter by chapter summaries of the other books on the Wiki at http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/...

It helped a lot to remind me what has gone before...

See a lot of people used the Song of Ice and Fire wiki site (http://awoiaf.westeros.org/)

I used the wiki to refresh myself on specific characters, but for a chapter by chapter refresh I used Tower of the Hand (http://towerofthehand.com/). I wonder how the summaries on the two sites compare.

The Towerofthehand.com looks to have a lot more information for each chapter than the wiki site. I wish I would of known about it before!
