I looked in my room, the rest of the house, 3 of our cars, and it is nowhere to be found. I know that I didn't leave it anywhere, because I'm too careful with my books. I'm going INSANE!

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments Right now I am sitting down to my computer after having experienced my first earthquake. Not a big one where I am, but Richmond VA hit with 5.9 and they are less than 2 hours away. Scary stuff.

We felt it here in Detroit, Amber. Our second one this year.

Ema | 53 comments A lot of my friends in Livonia said they felt it during class, but I didn't. Then again, I was too zoned out to notice the flickering lights in the hallway.

When I got home though, the lamp that I had on my nightstand was at the foot of my bed. So I assume Canton must have felt it quite a bit.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments I am providing stimulus to the economy today. I just bought the husband and I an anniversary trip to Maui. It's going to be a blast--29 years and I still love his company. Well, except sometimes in the car on trips when I'm the map-master and he's the driver and he wants to know exactly how many blocks til the street he's supposed to turn on and what is the name of the street before the street he's supposed to turn on.....you know how it goes.

Phil | 11841 comments Sweet! Have fun on Maui -- that's where we honeymooned so we love it, too.

message 267: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Woot! We honeymooned in Strawberry Point Iowa in a pup tent, so we've upgraded a bit since the early days! I'm looking forward to a return trip to Duke's Beach House--fun restaurant, great fish and martinis.

janine | 7709 comments Enjoy! Just make sure not to rent a car.

My cousins and I all grew up thinking my grandmother's name was "Goddamnit, Eleanor!" ;)

Congrats on 29 years and on the trip to Maui!

message 273: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Mr. Cynthia never calls me "Goddamnit Cynthia," but that is a great story Jammies!

message 274: by Karen K. (new)

Karen K. Miller (karenkm) | 140 comments Cynthia, we celebrated our 27th anniversary in May. We wanted to go to London on our honeymoon but decided to go to Canada instead because we didn't have enough money for London. So we decided for our 25th we would go to London. The April before our 26th Anniversary we scheduled to go to London. Then those blasted volcanic eruptions ruined our plans and we were not able to go.
So we decided to go this year. Actually, it ended up working out better. Our youngest daughter was doing a semester abroad in London (she goes to Boston University). So we were able to see her while she was in London. Fantastic vacation! The weather was sunny and warm the whole time we were there (except it rained the night before we left to return home).

Cool, Karen. We love London as well. I especially love "Billy Elliott."

smetchie | 4034 comments Procrastinating going to bed because I'm enjoying my buzz too much. I love long weekends. I love being able to stay up late and not worry about getting up in the morning because my kids are finally old enough to sort themselves out for a couple hours in the morning. FINALLY! I'm living the dream.

Phil | 11841 comments Right now I'm confused and getting angry while trying to figure out Medicare Part D coverage for my FIL.

Why did they have to fuck with Medicare in the Bush years? Why not have all coverage under the same "umbrella," and allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices???!

Oh, right. Because then the fucking insurance companies wouldn't be able to screw seniors out of even more money.

Hey, insurance companies -- FOAD.

My mom is dealing with similar issues with my Grandma's coverage. Stupid insurance companies, like people don't have enough to worry about already.

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments Right now I'm weighing my options and trying to figure out if I have the time and the endurance to spend 12 hours a day either driving to/from or actually in the office, and 2-3 hours a night editing college admission essays for extra cash.

Depends on the day and the traffic, but it's generally 1.5- 2 hours to drive 32 miles. Thank you, Northern VA. We rank second only to NYC for traffic.

message 293: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Wow. That's a very rough schedule, Amber, and the stop-and-go driving probably makes it all the more aggravating.

Thank god for books on tape. However, if I manage to get this job I am interviewing for tomorrow, my commute will be cut by more than half.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Right now I am spending money. I got a bid to have the windows washed (all 57 of them), sent some fatwood to my sister in law (for her kitchen woodstove) and bought Mr. Cynthia three snazzy new pairs of reading glasses.
