Sera | 1325 comments LOL - well you do get much of the good stuff that is translated before the US. Harry Hole, I am looking at you :)

Wendy My kids like to joke that they know when I've received the latest issue of Bookmarks magazine because they see me do my "happy dance" at the mailbox!! They also know that I'm going to need a few hours to myself to read it - cover to cover - every word!!

Victoria (vicki_c) I haven't gotten my new issue yet!

Well that's fun to hear. :-)

Betsy (ebburtis) | 1291 comments Can anyone remember what was on the cover of the most recent issue? I can't remember getting it, but I simply may have forgotten that I read it.

I can't find my issue at the moment, but the Bookmarks webpage shows it's a boy sitting and reading in a snow angel he's made.

Betsy (ebburtis) | 1291 comments I have not yet uncovered the Nov/Dec issue. My mother gets it for me for my birthday so I don't know if she didn't order it in time, or if it is buried somewhere in the detritus of my crazy life. But I did get the Jan/Feb issue. There's an odd error in the Coming Soon to a Theatre Near You section. There are three movies listed, two are truly coming soon, but the third is Girl with a Pearl Earring. That came out in 2003!

Sera | 1325 comments Is it a remake maybe, Betsy?

message 110: by Victoria (new)

Victoria (vicki_c) I never got my last issue either and had to have another one sent to me. It came right away after that request. Never did get the original one though.

message 111: by LynnB (new)

LynnB Just got my Jan/Feb 2015 issue this afternoon. The 3 main articles are about your brain and books, the new European titles and Jane Austen. Looks like I'm going to be adding to my list of books again.
:)

Juniper (jooniperd) ooh -- can't wait to receive the new issue, sounds like a great one. there seems to be a bit of a lag between US delivery and canadian delivery. sometimes it's just a week or so. other times it's been as much as 3 or 4 weeks. a bit puzzling... but i am always happy to get my new issues. i still haven't finished with my last one yet.

do you all keep your magazines? i do. heh! i need to acquire some of those storage boxes for magazines, i think ikea has some simple ones. i don't have a huge collection, just 2-3 years. but i keep thinking they will be worth referencing back to, and since there is no online resources for the magazine, i hesitate in getting rid of them. oh, the problems of a bookworm. haha!! :)

Betsy (ebburtis) | 1291 comments Sera wrote: "Is it a remake maybe, Betsy?"

No, it's starring the same people and I even checked online.

Then maybe I'm not crazy! I could probably do without adding more books to my list, but I always enjoy the "best of" articles.

Sera | 1325 comments Sounds like a typo, Betsy. How interesting!

I recently renewed my subscription so I won't have the new issue until next week.

message 116: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Bookmarks should add a section in their magazine called "Where Do You Do Bookmarks?" and we could all send in pictures of us with our magazines in some favorite or fun places! Ha! That would be interesting.

message 117: by Tiffani (new)

Tiffani (tiffanipassportbooks) | 7 comments One of my reading goals for 2015 is to read more books by authors from countries other than the US and I open up the latest issue of Bookmarks and there's an entire section on international books. Perfect timing.

Juniper (jooniperd) the jan/feb 2015 issue arrived on christmas eve - so that was pretty exciting for me. i am going to take a peek inside today! the features on the cover: recent novels from europe; jane austen: then and now; the brain; and new books guide are all really appealing!!

Becky (beckymurr) Ok-I have a silly question, I have my Jan/Feb issue & on pg 4 it lists Coming Soon To A Theater Near You-there are 3 movies listed, one being Girl With The Pearl Earring....that movie came out in 2003, is it being re released?

someone mentioned that earlier, and it seems to be an error is all. (comment #108, on.)
