R3 TEAM THREAD: Team #3 ~ Serious Series Sluts
Lili wrote: "O.o Just finished Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins 08/19*****..."Isn't the Hunger Games a great series. It was totally not my normal style of reading either, but my daughters gifted teacher recommended it to me... and I was hooked. Cannot wait to see the movie!
Looooooooved The Hunger Games trilogy. I am excited about the movie and at the same time, very nervous about it being butchered.I finished
several days ago (08/17). I'm only giving it ★★1/2 stars. Way too much teenage angst/creepy love (read: obsession) for an animal before she knew he was human. Reminded me so much of Twilight, except even more emo (how is that even possible?!?!). At least Twilight had some action to break up the whining. Shiver would have been a lot better if there had been more action and less "I love you!" "I love you!" "Let me quote you poetry!" "I don't understand poetry, but everything you say is wonderful!" Blech. (view spoiler) Guess I'll try to finish Visions of Heat for the alpha male shelf.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Perfect timing... Just walked in from round #2 school shopping with 2nd child, but he was extremely good! Can't complain and he let me go to Borders too.Off to browse the shifter shelf!! Report back soon, this one should be easier... LOVE those hot shifters!!
Lunatic Cafe is great for the Shifters shelf.Just got home from my cousin's house. Kind of a mini family reunion. Talked and played cards mostly. Be back soon with my choice.
I'll be reading either
or
for the Shifter shelf. I have to read and mail both of these (and 1 more) by the end of the month. So..... even though Kateland will be calling my name - I must resist. At least until I read these next 3 books!
I'm changing my Free Space book to
from the group bookshelf. That's the 3rd book I have to read and mail. Might as well make it count here too!
I'll kill two birds with one stone here... I'll be reading Magic Bleeds by Ilona Andrews for this shelf AND for the pick it for me challenge!
Lili - I'm almost finished with that one.....only 47 pages to go! Loving it!!!! And to think, I almost didn't want to read this series. There are so many books in my house already, it's hard to decide to start collecting yet another series....
It's my favorite Lis! Probably reading Infected: Prey for the shifter shelf since I seem to have misplaced Into the Lair once again...... IF, no make that WHEN I find it again, it isn't leaving my hands or my book bag until it has been read, packaged up, and is in the mail and on it's way to it's new home! SHEESH!!!!! Just how hard can it be to find 1 book?????
Maybe that is an idea for getting rich... Create a GPS chip tracking product for books or bookmarks. Then you can always find your reading material?
Yeah.....I need something! Tried to find a book I KNOW I own this morning. Nowhere...... I don't remember sending it out, and I know it isn't one I loaned. SIGH.....I am losing control of my TBR, 1 book at a time.
Sorry Ladies - I was in St Louis Missouri for the weekend at a convention & did not have computer access as I did not have free wi-fi so my ipad was not operational which totally sucked however - good news is that I finished my read for the Dark Shelf
...I am giving this book 3*s....I was a little disappointed in this book. When I read the first few sections because there are not any numbered chapters I was like this might be a pretty good read but after the first 50 pages or so I began to question my motive for reading it. It was boring. Towards the end, the book picked up a little but by the time I read the last sentence I was glad the book was finished. I may read the next one in this series but its going to be a long time coming. Maybe someone else who reads this book will be able to get more out of it than I did. With that being said, I am picking a tried & true series - so for my shifters book I am picking
....who doesnt love Mercy & Adam
Glad you are back safe and sound Sallie. Bummer that you didn't like Tantalize. I'll still read mine (eventually), but I'm not rushing to get to it.
Alyssa wrote: "*squeals* I am! *runs to Cindy wearing a Cinderella costume* Please grant my wishes, Fairy Godmother!! *hugs* :-D"Alyssa!!!!! How did I miss this? What are you wishing for now sweetie?
wait wait, just wait a minute here... I'm doing my best to, at least, finish Deeper Than Midnight this weekend but there's something bothering me here. This is Corinne and Hunter's story and here are some facts:- Corinne was raped by Dragos and had a baby boy about 13 years ago
- Hunter was fathered by Dragos and some woman
- Now Corinne and Hunter are kinda getting along
So... Corinne's gonna get down and dirty with father and son, and it looks like Hunter's gonna be the baby's half brother and stepdaddy.
Is this supposed to be sexy?... maybe I'm not in the mood...
Yep, this one wasn't one of my favorites in the series either... Awwwkwarrrd!! But I am ready for Harvard to get his story, its next and has to be better.
CONGRATULATIONS, Serious Series Sluts! You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'dark'.
[Your new BINGO card can be viewed on page 1]
Good Job!! :D
Thanks Alyssa! It's HUGE!!!! I'm gonna share with my team. We've all done a good job - and now we have another stamp on our card! YAY TEAM!!!
Finished my "Shifters" Shelf book: Pride Mates by Jennifer AshleyDate finished: August 22,2011
Rating: ★★ 1/2
Review: Yep this one was kind of cheesy. It did have some good parts such as the men's strong family bond and relationship. I really enjoyed the pack hierarchy and political challenge even if the climax was completely predictable. The relationship development of the main couple and their mating seemed rushed as did other parts through out. Guess I was a little disappointed since I really like her Stormwalker series written as Allyson James, and this one fell short of my expectations.
I found (again!) my book.....I'm not letting it go until it is mailed out! So - I am reading Into the Lair for my shifter book.
Hey Ladies - good news - I have finished my "alpha male" book
...I gave this book 3*s...this was the 2nd book in the series - Lora Leigh does a great job of tying in the 1st book with the 2nd one but just found it boring...the characters were just there for me - if you are into a lot of mindless eye popping wild hot & bothered monkey sex then this is definitely the book/series to read as far as storyline - could have used some umpf to it. Definitely going to read the next book in the series just not sure when...
**** Shifter Shelf 8-24Into the Lair by Maya Banks was an intense romp. Katie only trusts 1 man - her brother Gabe. When he misses calling her, she fears the worst has happened and gets prepared to run, again. Before she gets far, 2 men capture her and say that Gabe sent them.
Plenty of story here to go with the scorching sex. No M/M action, but plenty of almost anything you can think of involving M/F/M. Very light BDSM (bonus!). Sexy shifters, very hard headed Alpha female, bad guys galore, and an avalanche. What more could you want?
Would love to read another story with these folks, but sadly, nothing seems to be coming..... :(
OMG!!!!! My grandson is so proud. He just got his first pimple....... I had to stop posting just so I could see it. Either he is too old or I am. It can't be me. It's him!
I'm going to read
for my shifters book.Y'all, I'm struggling soooo much with Visions of Heat. I cannot get into it. I'm seriously considering changing my alpha-male book because, frankly, if this wasn't a Bingo book, I'd have given up long ago. I don't find either of the main characters interesting and there is too much boring "psychic" blather. I'll let ya know if I find another book to read.
ETA: Yup, I'm switching my alpha-male book to
. Maybe reading a non-paranormal will help me with my reading slump.
LOL Jessica - Lunatic Cafe was not one of my favorites either. Maybe LKH has a shoe fetish and it is showing up in Anita's Nikes?
Yeah team! More books to check off. Unfortunately our Bingo card is not lining up too well with the picks. Maybe we can bribe Mr. Randomizer for "Vampires"? @Jessica you never know, the Anita series might take a shift and you'll end up with "hotness" overload.
When I started the series a few years ago I was able to read straight thru so the books blur a little for me. BLOODY BONES is a road trip to Missouri and JC is there too. THE KILLING DANCE and BLUE MOON get a little more "hotness".
Hey, anyone out there today? I had to have some minor surgery yesterday so I am home for a long weekend recouping and reading. Hoping to finish a couple of challenge books that I haven't got to yet. Its hard sitting still when you know you have to.
Finished my alpha male book!
(09/26/11) ★★★1/2 I enjoyed the book. (Holy crap, it was steamy though!) I think the hero delved a little bit too far into asshole territory sometimes, although he usually apologized for it later. I would have liked more relationship development and less sex. There was menage sex, but besides making the book hotter, there was no point to it. It added nothing to the plot. I am planning on reading more in the series, if only because the set-ups and the (obvious) future couples seem more compelling than Colby and Channing were. I did enjoy the rodeo bits. Problem numero uno with this book: the hero's name is Colby. Same name as my younger brother. Eww. Just eww. I didn't count off any stars for that though. LOL
Hey everyone - Im almost finished with my "shifters" book
...as with the other books in this series, I am liking this one as well....have errands to run this morning but plan to head the pages just as soon as get my "house chores" finished today....
you guys.. sorry to report that I'm not done with my books yet*sighs*
This week was crazy, insane and... let's just say I'm sooo happy it's saturday after 3 pm.
I promise, promise I'll do my best to catch up with it this weekend...
Oh! and I'll be reading The Darkest Secret by Gena Showalter for the demons shelf.
I'll also be going with one of the Lords of the Underworld, Aeron from Gena Showalter's series and read The Darkest Passion for the Demons shelf.
Lis wrote: "I'll also be going with one of the Lords of the Underworld, Aeron from Gena Showalter's series and read The Darkest Passion for the Demons shelf."Yay! We're reading the same one!
Hey all....finished my shivered book
. 4*s for me....this was another great addition to the series. Mercy finds herself in trouble once again only because she tries to return an item she borrowed....as luck would have it she looses her home to fire &Sets off to rescue her friends boyfriend...lots of craziness going on with her but PB does a great job with keeping you guessing love it
OK ya'll - I'm starting
today. I have to read it and mail it out by Wednesday, so our Free Space will be finished by then. For the Demons shelf I will be reading
. Another one I have to read and mail. Thanks Mr. Randomizer!
Just finished Deeper Than Midnight by Lara Adrian 08/28***Not really one of my favorites... the whole situation was waaay too weird.. I like Hunter and I think he deserves to be happy even more than the others, that being said, why did he have to pick Corinne?
I mean... she had a baby with Hunter's father, even the Gen One can't really be counted as a father, and now Hunter's gonna be the boy's stepdaddy??.... and, of course, half brother.
It was funny the author didn't mention this, like if she didn't acknowledge this it would go away or the readers wouldn't notice.
Great to know the little bit about Hunter, that was interesting, also Chase's story is next and I'm wondering what's her Breedmate power.. I mean, she has to be a Breedmate, right?
Happy Nana's day!!!Cindy, I know you're a hell of a Grandma so enjoy this day a little bit more than any other... and if there's another one reading, congraaaaats!
All the other non-nana's here, let's raise our glasses to these amazing and wonderful women... SALUUUUUUD!!!
Thanks Lili! I have beer in the freezer chilling, and SIL is cooking dinner - as usual! My house is small and it sometimes causes problems with so many people in it all the time. The heat is unbearable, so everybody stays in...... I'm very thankful that I don't have to do the cooking too! Besides, other than a couple of "specialities" he is at least as good a cook as I am, and he doesn't mind doing it.

Hee hee hee!!! Magic Bleeds is one of my favorites of the series. I even had to read back over several chapters of my favorite part...(ahh sigh!!) It was fun to revisit.
