So happy to finally start getting back on track, I'm 9 books behind on my reading challenge... 9 books!!!Not to mention that I haven't been able to finish any monthly challenge... but this week is exam, test and quiz's week!! so I'll be sitting and hopefully reading while the kids do the stressing and working and all that!
hope I get a chance to stop by more often!
I miss Goodreads!
Hi everyone - I am happy to announce that I have finished my book bookcover:Beastly|544891]...4*s...I really liked this book. It was the fairy tale "Beauty & the Beast" only it had a more current appeal to it. Definitely has lessons to be learned - a nice change to the usual books I pick. This was for my "read in 2010" pick. Should have my book "Dead Reckoning" finished this week probably by Thurs or Fri...cant believe I got this far behind but vacations will do that to you.
CONGRATULATIONS, Serious Series Sluts! You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'read in 2010'.

Review: This was an enjoyable adventure with Dean from the Dirk & Steele detective agency. He re-discovered his childhood sweetheart Mira while traveling across Asia. This felt like a PNR version of Indiana Jones with Chinese dragon shifters. This one still left a few unresolved items in the end and hopefully there will be more glimpses of Dean & Mira in other books of the series. I really need to get busy and finish this series I think there might be several good ones.
Hey team-mates!!! I am happy to announce that I have finished my pick for the "URBAN FANTASY" shelf...
...4*s...love this series. Sookie is one of my fav characters but Eric is starting to work on my nerves & Im just not all that sure about Bill. Poor Sookie she just cant seem to go thru life without getting into a brawl with someome. Cant wait to see what happens next....its off to read "Pleasure Unbound" Also Im changing my pick for "DRAGONS" shelf to
...
hey Jessica... I already finished Dark embers... read, reviewed and posted.I'm also almost finished with Succubus on top.
I finished
on 10/12. I marked it with 3 stars, but that's a round up from 2 1/2 stars. It was a good plot done poorly, with characters that should have been more interesting. Stylistically it was just awkward. A couple of reviews mention this, but the main character kept referring to her phone as an xPhone. Never just a phone, but an xPhone. Ok, I have an iPhone, but I just call it a phone or a cell. Weird. Also, who brings a $1,000 Dolce and Gabanna purse to a murder scene? (The heroine, that's who!) Constant references to her business partners "melon-sized" breasts. I dunno about y'all, but I don't tend to pay much attention to my friends breasts. Characters were kinda one-dimensional. Conversations were stilted and poorly done. This is a pet peeve of mine. I like conversations in books to be natural and sound like what people really would say. Some authors don't do this well. I have several Cheyenne McCray books (from different series) so I'm hoping this isn't the case for her. Anyway, all that to say, it was ok, but it could have been better. Much, much better. I am disappointed too, because, like I said, the plot was really interesting. I may or may not continue with the series.I picked
for my dragon book. A bold move because it's a long one . I am gonna try to finish it before the next shelf announcement so I can be ready in case one of the shelves we need to win gets picked.
Oh well, I've only got Demons Not Included, I haven't bought the rest of the series yet, like I tend to do. So I'll be holding off on that. Thanks Crystal. What a Dragon Should Know I thought was a fairly quick read, so enjoy it, I sure did.
Doing great ladies! We are getting closer... With our "Urban Fantasy" stamp we can get Bingo if Mr. R picks "Trilogy".
With our "Dragons" stamp, we can get Bingo with "Paranormal romance" or "Goodreads Author"
Almost done with my dragon book. Have to go to work at 5 am tomorrow, so won't be able to post a review till I get home.
Already finished Succubus on top but just haven't been able to sit and write a review... hope to do it tonight.

Review:
Honeyed Words by J.A. Pitts is the second novel in the Sarah Beauhall series. Nice continuation of the story. Sarah is an apprentice blacksmith who reforges a magical sword. She is becoming much more at peace with her sexual orientation. Some F/F interaction, but not graphic. Her girlfriend Katie is quite a spitfire! I enjoyed their scenes more in this book because a lot of the tension is gone.
Just when I thought there wasn't an actual dragon in the whole book, here he comes! (view spoiler) There was a nice resolution at the end of this story, but there are plenty of loose threads to continue for at least a couple more books. I only hope he writes quickly! :)["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Succubus on Top by Richelle Mead 10/13***I like Georgina and find her funny and most of her comebacks somewhat witty, I can’t understand what is it that she sees in Seth, I mean, he’s a nice guy, sweet and dependable but, even if he denied it, he is a doormat and that’s just pain boring, especially for someone like Georgina.
I found Bastien super cool and his childish demeanor was kind of endearing… until the whole thing after the pictures… and then what he did at Georgina’s apartment was awful… and still, Seth did nothing!... so yeah!, doormat…

Good Job!! :D
(10/15/11) 5 starsLoved it! I was laughing out loud while reading it in the cafeteria at work. I'm sure people thought I was nuts. Gwenvael was hilariously arrogant and dramatic. I liked Dagmar. I liked seeing all the previous characters, (view spoiler). I enjoyed the new characters, the cousins, Ragnar the lightning dragon (and the hero of the next book). The only complaint I have is that it kinda started dragging at the end with a lot of scenes I felt were unnecessary and there only to make the book longer. But I'm not counting off for that because I enjoyed everything else too much.
Bring on the next category. I'm ready to go! LOL["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
oooooohhh I knew this one was coming!... or at least I was hoping for it, now I'm happy I put Archangel's Blade by Nalini Singh on hold last week 'cause it'll be my book for this shelf.
Still trying to decide what my "Angels" book is going to be...I'll think on it some more & have a pick later today
Hey Sallie - Angels really doesn't help us much from what I can see. What we really need from you is to read and review your Dragon book! That stamp give us 4 in a row 2 different ways. Angels is way off almost by itself......That said, I still need to pick my Angels book too! LOL I'm still looking for the book that is supposed to be on my TBR with angels in it.....of course I have several others, but this one is calling to me. If I can just FIND IT!
I FOUND IT!!!!!!This is the book I was looking for
and it will be the book I read for the Angels shelf. WHEW!!! I had to check and make sure we didn't have a time travel shelf first.....don't have a lot of those books hanging around.
Hey team-mates!!! Well all I can say is that vacation has kicked my "reading-butt" lol i dont think I have pushed so hard to finish books in my life except for when I was having to read AP English Lit for high school & college...anyway - I finished my "First in Series"-
...4*s...I loved the "hot" romance but I really did like the storyline in that the demon-doctor/slayer had a nice change to the usual storylines...the love affair that began as a hate affair was nice in the way Ione developed the characters. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Have my "angels" shelf pick, I am going with
...so now I am off to start
which is my dragons pick...

Review: Wow, this was another great book in the Guild Hunter series! Just the way I like it, nice and dark with steaminess... I really enjoyed discovering Dmitri's story and seeing that he had a softer side. His devotion to Raphael has always been strong, but you finally get the full history of why. Its a shame that Honor's story had to start out so awful. I realize that she had to be equally damaged so they were drawn to each other for the revenge, etc. but to endure two months of torture etc. 1/2 star demerit... Still feel this is one of my more favorite books of the series (despite the cover) and the series keeps getting better as it goes.
Hello everyone!!! Well I have good news to report...I have finished my "dragon" book
...3*s...i didnt really like the book but I didnt dislike it except that I found the storyline very boring...the carmel scene was very entriguing...hummmm ideas anyone? I absolutely found Jim the Perverted Newfie hilarious. At any rate - I hope the next book is better than this one just didnt seem to hold my attention as well as the previous book.
Yeah Sallie!! and yeah team!! we are sitting pretty good for Bingo with several shelves. Oops! Confession time, I'm just a weeee bit competitive!!
...and don't peek Lili, I tried really hard and don't think I put any real spoilers in there... but Sallie there was a (view spoiler)
Jessica wrote: "Lover mine 4*Dont get me wrong i love this series, just something was a little off for me in this book. Maybe its cause i lov..."
I had the same feeling, but I think its that we've been waiting so long for JM's story and with Xhex its soooo dark. But, if you can get to the latest one, you will get your Payne time (and bonus... more Vishous too).

Good Job!! :D
Just finished Archangel's Blade by Nalini Singh 10/22****Great book, can't go wrong with Nalini Singh.
I liked so many things about this book, especially that the author is making the series about the whole crew, I keep thinking that we'll see something about Venom and Sorrow, maybe?
or Ash and Janvier?
Anyway, I liked this side of Dmitri, he's always been a very veeery interesting character and it was great to read about him, his life before he was a vampire (even if it was an awful story), it made me like him even more and somehow understand him too.
Honor... well... I found her kind of boring. Yes, what happened to her was terrible and she was a great character because of how she dealt with it all... blah blah blah... still, the whole Ingrede (wtf with the name??) thing... meh!, just didn't do it for me.
I hope Illinum's story comes out soon... I loooove him!
Peeking to see if there has been a shelf announcement yet... Heading to a hayride and anxious to see if this will be one of three for us to win this week, before we go... **chews fingernails**
Our Next Shelf is: 'Goodreads Author'DIRECT LINK: Goodreads author
This shelf gives TWO teams BINGO ~ Double Trouble (#2) and Serious Series Sluts (#3). But, Double Trouble first needs to get their 'dragons' stamp, whereas SSS only needs to read, rate & review their books for this shelf to win.
Good luck to both teams! Happy Reading!
