R3 TEAM THREAD: Team #3 ~ Serious Series Sluts

For the "first in series" book, I will go with

Sooo many books, soooo little time...

I'm going to read

Date finished: September 24,2011
Rating: ★★★
Review: The main characters Max a human cop and Sophia a Psy J. They are working a case together and are drawn to each other as the series goes. They have to fight the obstacle of the Net Mind and other Psy coming after her since she is now "flawed". More mystery is threaded thru the series overall storyline as to who is behind the big bad going on in the Psy net and the politics behind the counselors. Get a few glimpses into the lives of past couples as we move towards a happy ending. This was a different set of characters I wasn't familiar with in the Psy-Changling series. I have missed a few books here and there and these characters might have been introduced in MINE TO POSESS. I tend to float with the wolf and cat pack characters but skip these others. Still have a few more to catch up with, but will continue with the series.

Oooh. Nice choice. I haven't read Working Stiff yet, but I own it. Can't wait to see what you think.

Review: Wow, what a great book and promising series. Throw in earth, fire, air & water elementals, a few djinn and little bit demon and you get a creative storyline with interesting characters. The story kind of starts in the middle and as the main character Jo is traveling cross country you get flashbacks to her early life, her relationships and what has lead to her running from the Wardens. Several plot twists and turns, a Mustang, a Viper and this was a really great ride. Can't wait to start the next book in the series.
I picked this one up yesterday and couldn't put it down. Started this work week a little tired, but it was worth it.

for my first in series read I'm picking

First book of the series... I'm not sure how I feel about this book, it was tiresome to keep listening to all the rambling of a teenage mind.
Overall it was ok, the characters were quite interesting and so was the plot. I do want to know more about them and what will happen to Chloe, Derek and Simon.

Stamp coming up! Congrats, SSS!

Master of the Revels is #1 in the Bottled Up series. I've read other books by this author that I enjoyed much more. The dialog was stilted. Would you really look at your lover and use his name each and every time you talked to him? The story was interesting, but the problems the couple encountered seemed to be resolved very easily. Could have been much better. Word of warning - this couple REALLY enjoys rimming. If that isn't your thing, you may want to pass..... I will continue to read the series - I already have them! I know it improves, cuz I've already read #4!!!

Ok, now to backtrack and finish

ETA: I just noticed that you didn't note my "first in series" book Jessica (Glass Houses). I mentioned it in post 573. :-)["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Camp Hell is the third installment of the PsyCop series. This series just gets better and better! Plenty of action, M/M goodness, and ghosts. Loved that Vic's partner finds out that instead of being non-psychic, he can actually prevent people from being able to use their psychic abilities. I'll definitely be continuing the series, just as soon as I can grab hold of the books!

Did you give up on WORKING STIFF? I was looking thru other Rachel Caine books and saw that this has zombies in it. Just wondering if you liked it...

Still no winner yet! Mr. R isn't ready for the game to stop, I guess.
Happy Reading!

Review: Another great book. This time the universe is falling apart, more insight into the major players of the Djinn, and an unlikely new villian. Started off a little slow, but the second half took off and didn't stop until the end. Actually its still going and left off with just enough of cliff hanger to make you want to grab CHILL FACTOR and keep on reading.

Werewolves, vampires, and (view spoiler) , oh my!
Try as I might, I can't seem to write a review that doesn't contain multitudes of spoilers. So, suffice it to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I'm glad the story will continue and I'm definitely looking forward to continuing the saga of Emma and Caleb. Oh yeah, and Trent. Can't forget him!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

For urban fantasy I'm picking dead reckoning by charlaine Harris

Looking forward to what you think of that one... I've been collecting that series but have not started that yet.

ETA: I'm still making my way through The Lost Symbol. It's good, but kind of detail heavy so I can't read it super-quickly. Also, by good I mean ever so slightly boring. I enjoyed The DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons better.

Busy day tomorrow, so I'm making this week's announcement early.
Still no winner! Happy Reading!

I will go with

For the urban fantasy shelf I'll be reading either The Reckoning by Kelley Armstrong or Archangel's Blade by Nalini Singh.
And was about to start Dark Embers by Tessa Adams which is great because it'll be my book for the dragons shelf.

Bah!
Why is it so hard to find a good YA book?... I started reading this trilogy because I needed a trilogy for a challenge and a complete YA series for another one so I figured it’d be a great way to kill two birds with one stone, it was all good until I started reading.
The first book was teenage drama all over, fine fine… ok, kind of expected that. This second book was a waste of time since nothing happened!
The group hid and ran and hid again… and then ran!... I liked Derek since the beginning so I was happy to read more about him and I sort of like Chloe. It seems to me like the author wrote this book as an extended journey to get to Andrew and to stress the importance of his character to the story… but it just bored me.
Yes, I will read the last book in the series since I have to but I’m not that interested in it… except for Derek… and yeah, I want to know how it all ends…

Great series, I liked the characters a lot!... they’re all very different and it’s interesting reading about them as children, they’re funny and make me want to know more about them. The writing is good and the story flows really nicely, there’s enough romance to keep things interesting and some creepy stuff to shake things up.
I like Fox better than Cal, he’s a nerd and too serious for me. Quinn was a great character and she complements Cal’s boringness so when they got together I couldn’t stop reading.
Can’t wait to start on Fox and Layla’s book.

Think I'll go with

Lili - I keep putting that series off as well....At least maybe I'll get it read if trilogy is called. Either The Summoning or The Iron King. Keep putting that series off too.....

um um ummm... I liked this book, a lot!, it was a fast read.
The writing is easy to read and the story was interesting enough that I didn't stop until I was finished.
I liked the charaters but was annoyed at some of their reactions, mostly Dylan acting like a total jerk (jerk not alpha, there's a BIG difference) and Phoebe being a strong feminist but also Dylan's doormat.
aaaand the dumbest, most intelligent scientist ever... come on!!!, she never knew she was a dragon herself??
didn't she said she knew Dylan was different just because of his thick skin and blood samples?, wasn't it weird that she never got sick, and who said she had the lifespan of a dragon?...she didn't age like them..
She was also a slut, and a careless, irresponsible one... she went to bed with Dylan after 24 hrs of knowing him and never bothered with any protection whatsoever...
It is a fun, easy read... just don't look too much into the story because it has a lot of big holes in it.

Succubus on Top by Richelle Mead will be my Urban fantasy book aaand also my Author of the month book!

I enjoyed it, but it dragged badly in places. I enjoyed Dan Brown's other books better although I seem to remember similar dragging in Angels and Demons. I think I am just not all that interested in Masonic conspiracies. LOL It seemed that the revealed secrets of Angels and Demons and The DaVinci Code were a bit more shocking. The Lost Symbol was more like, "That's it?"
I'm about halfway through Demons Not Included (urban fantasy). I can't decide on a dragon book. I have several to choose from. I think it will boil down to my mood when I'm ready to start it, which will hopefully be sometime tomorrow or Wednesday. I suspect it will boil down to a reread of

Ok, that being said, I did enjoy the rest of the story. (view spoiler)[ Lash being the Omega's son. Whoa. Tohr's back! (hide spoiler)] John Matthew, Quinn, and Blay growing up and fighting alongside the Brothers. Getting to know Rehv better.
Basically, I was about 3/4 of the way through, not thrilled with the book and seriously contemplating not continuing with the series. Then Ward sucked me back in, in that last 1/4 and I know I'll read more. Cuz I'm apparently a sucker for punishment. *sigh*
