Not sure why you did a "previously on" with A Feast for Crows. Events in AFFC happen in the same time period as A Dance with Dragons. I think ADWD is concentrating on the characters that weren't in AFFC.
I didn't know that the guy impersonating Pate was Jaqen Hgar. Am i the only one?

I have read it twice and i am pretty sure it was not mentioned in the book.
@Kate I certainly hope you're right. I'd hate to have to wait for the next book to hear anything from Arya, Sansa, Sam, and Jamie.

I'm tempted to just go read the site that puts everything in order and skip reading books 2-5. ;)

I read the first three when they came out, but after the fiasco with A Feast for Crows/A Dance with Dragons, I just can't bring myself to care anymore. If Martin ever actually finishes the series and the reviews are good, I might buy the remaining books, but I'm not shelling out money for a series that might never be finished, not when there's plenty of other stuff I can be reading.
Thanks for doing the catch up on GoT as I am not reading the stories but like to know what the talk is about. I am not spoiler adverse but you guys do a great job for those that are. Can't wait for Ghost Stories to come out in 2 weeks. All ready pre ordered.

I found Jumper to be a very very depressing book. Its mostly about a young man dealing with his fathers physical abuse and alcoholism. The main character uses his "gift" to help him escape his situation but eventually still has to come to grips with the horrors of his past. I can't say I enjoyed it but I wouldn't say it was a bad book. It just wasn't what I was expecting. I was hoping for something more fun and the book's subject matter was too heavy to be a fun book.

Yeah, I have no idea why it was written that way (or why I said it that way). Tom wrote out the notes though, so once again I'm blaming him.

*^_^*So since it's now been on the podcast and is now S&L canon, I assume this means I must update about the Machine of Death submission when I get my rejection/acceptance, right? Really I'm stoked about either result. :D They said people would know by October 31st.
I was also in the middle of a sip of coffee when my name came up so suddenly in the podcast. Coffee burns in the nose, and causes co-workers to laugh! Eek!

After listening to the podcast I found my hardback copy of A Feast for Crows just to double check I had read it before because the reminder read out by Tom and Veronica showed me that I had forgotten everything. Looking on the back cover I found the usual 'celebrity endorsements' of the book. One of them said ' Grabs hold and won't let go. It's brilliant!' Ironically and poignantly the quote is from Robert Jordan.

Charles Stross has a new one: Rule 34 . Only one of my local stores stocks it. I think it's in 2nd person.

Is there a link for the summary of Feast for Crows that was discussed during the re-cap portion of the podcast? Like many others, I did not remember quite more than I realized, a few of things that seem pretty significant. I would like to read the summary a few times before ADwD-Day.
I'm a bit sad. I just realized that next week starts some intense craziness for me at work. I powered through books 1-4 in a re-read and finished this past weekend. Unfortunately, looking ahead, I might have a hard time finishing ADWD in a timely manner. :\

Suddenly I want to read this book."That's the one and not only is it written in second person it's from multiple POVs. He writes each character with such a unique voice you shouldn't get lost often. Plus, the POV character is listed in the chapter heading. I get more lost in the Scottish slang. I'm about halfway through the book and am enjoying it. Lots of geeky, internet humor. I'm not sure it's necessary to know internet memes to enjoy the book but it sure would help. I don't recommend reading it while planking, that's just not safe.
