If ever you needed evidence of the Religious Right's impressive organization and zeal, take a look at the gross overreaction of the American Family Association to NBC's decision last weekend to run the "Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag" without the "under God" wording at the start of the U.S. Open golf tournament broadcast.

The original "Pledge" did not include "under God" and was only added to counter the Russians...My advice to all, just say under Canada which would be more in tune with a realistic worldview.

The biggest concern anyone should have with the religious wrong is their insistence to impose their will on the rest of us because they feel they have the "divine authority" to do so. In particular, their obsession with sex and complusion to control women (reproductive rights). All part of the mental slavery that is part of the Christian meme.

Whilst Americans keep telling themselves that their nation is 'freer' and better than other nations in these matters, there will not be the will to fight these religious bigots. Constitutions do not protect culture and freedom can be eroded bit by bit whatever is written in them.
