Karen B. (raggedy11) | 19 comments ahhh Merrilee, I am so sorry to read of your mother's passing. You know you and your mom have been in my prayers. I did not have internet access for a while so I am late catching up with things. May you find peace in the wonderful memories of your mother and in knowing that she is not suffering.

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 19 comments I have to ask for some prayers for a high school classmate, Mike. Last October he had his 5th Stem Cell transplant and they were hoping it would last for at least 6 years. Went back to the oncologist two weeks ago and found out his blood count shows that his cancer is back full force (multiple myeloma). He learned on Monday that he cannot have another stem cell transplant because the fact that the other one didn't last shows that his stem cells are not healthy enough. Now he is undergoing chemo. He has been fighting this since 2003 and is determined that he is not ready to die. He is 59. The funny thing is that we were never friendly in high school, and then using one of the classmates sites he found me and we have been in constant contact since then. JUST FRIENDS nothing romantic, but he's a real special guy. Told me yesterday that he was going to mow the lawn of the neighbor two doors down because her husband passed in January and it's just her and her daughter. He never tells them it was him who mowed the lawn, shoveled the side walk, he just goes and does it.

Mike sounds like a great guy. Prayers are sent to you and Mike. My Fred turned 60 March,2010, was diagnosed with kidney cancer last August. He takes oral chemo. No surgery is planned. He's been bitter at times stating "all the years I've paid into Social Security and I'll probably never see it." Other days, usually after a motorcycle ride, he's happy seeing our biker friends and enjoying the open road. I take it one day at a time.
