Kate (katiebobus) | 202 comments Around the time I was obsessed with Eugenie Clark (say, 4th grade), I read a couple of books by a marine biologist. One was about his experiences with a group of sharks. At one point he gets bitten or almost bitten and he realizes humans can't really befriend sharks. In another book he's working with dolphins. One of the stories in this book was about a young dolphin who developed some horrible disease where its skin was rotting off -- but new skin grows underneath and the guy cries in relief when they realize the dolphin is going to live. Anyone? I remember there were a few pencil drawings in the books (the guy was a bemoustached fellow, and, I thought, a handsome one).

Kate (katiebobus) | 202 comments I found them! Don C. Reed's books "The Dolphins and Me" and "Sevengill: The Shark and Me." Whew, that was driving me nuts.
