Will (willbost) | 49 comments A great website to use instead of re-reading the entire series is Tor.com where Leigh Butler has posted summaries as she has re-read the entire series. She is currently at Knife of Dreams so she may complete about the time the last book is released. A lot easier if you read the series years ago and need a refresher.
She is doing the same (although not a re-read, but new read) with a Song of Ice and Fire, but is still in Game of Thrones.

Dan (daniel-san) | 101 comments Thanks guys, I left off on book 6 years ago, and I doubt I'd want to read them all over again, even though they were great. These sites will help me refresh my memory. I'd like to finish the series now that Brandon Sanderson is finally going to give us some closure.

Randy Word (rword) | 21 comments My favorite series by far. I own All the books and all the audio recordings.

message 5: by Neil (new)

Neil (rucknrun) I just started the 5th book. I to love the series. I doubt I will be done by the time the final book comes out. I am going to try though.

Kate O'Hanlon (kateohanlon) | 778 comments I'm toying with the idea of doing an epic re-read for the final book, the last time I did one was for the release of The Gathering Storm. Time consuming, but I've been a Wheel of Time fangirl since 1997, it's going to be the end of an era.

Mach | 46 comments I just started a reread.

Faiz | 80 comments i've done a full re-read for the release of 9,10,11 and 12.

At this point, i realize that i know what parts i love and which i know do not appeal to me, so i skim by the latter. Though i never skip them completely, i still want to refresh whats going on everywhere, i don't need to know the details.

Plus i just skip past all the world building, environment and character descriptions, at this point i probably know them all better than Jordan did when he first started the series. This alone doubles the speed in which i finish the books.

Its like a veteran WOW player starting a new character, you just skip by all the beginning stuff.

Given that the release was delayed a few months, ill give it a final push near the end of this year. Right now is ASOIAF time!

Steven Thomsen-Jones (countstex) Being a relative new comer to the series I've only just started on Book 2, having read 1 last year. There's every chance I won;t even catch up before the release, but this could be a useful sight so I can better recall what happened and when. :)

Brian | 67 comments A Memory of Light

Anticipated date is March 2012. But I will not hold my breath.

terpkristin | 4407 comments Cool. I will definitely be using http://encyclopaedia-wot.org/ to catch up this time instead of the complete re-read.

According to Harriet, the editor and RJ's widow it will probably be closer to November 2012.

Iirc Sanderson's schedule for completion has stayed the same but Harriet wants longer to edit it because she's been too rushed on the last two and too many mistakes got through.

I know exactly what you mean. I've read these books so many time thats hen it comes to a new release i skim over my least favourite bits (any time when Perrin is bitchin' and moanin') and pay more attention to the swing points in the plot so i'm all caught up for the new one.

Oh and i also own all the audiobooks as well as the hardbacks and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Beautifully read by a man and a woman, almost on a par with Stephen Fry reading Harry Potter which are hands down my favourite audiobooks.

And they're married - I didn't discover this until well into the series.

Ewan (ewanreads) | 94 comments I think i knew this actually, I listened to the dragonmount podcast once when they interviewed them and it was mentioned.

Very very cool though, they are fantastic at dividing up the reading.

Skip | 517 comments I am so happy these books are out as ebooks. One for sheer size and second for the cover art. What I would really like was to be able to read the "parts". So you could read the "Books of Matt" - which I would expect to be the leading choice. The "Book of Rand" may actually end up being one of the shorter books in the group.

Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are great readers, and they do a good job of drawing you into the story. I have most of the audiobooks, and before the ebooks were published it was the only way to have them in a portable format.
