Well, I read ALOT of other books, so I've only read each of them 1 time. I'm a very big reader!! I liked them ALOT when I read them though. Good books are imprinted on my brain sometimes (literally) lol

Wow she/he just referred to me as a teenager - woo hoo it's years since I've been one of them. Thanks you've just taken over a decade off my age. Happy VC :-)So what book is each of your favourite in the series?? Do you have one?
hahahahaha this is getting more entertaining by the minute! My favourite books in the series are 1, 5 and 7. But of course they're all amazing

Dalia wrote: "hahahahaha this is getting more entertaining by the minute! My favourite books in the series are 1, 5 and 7. But of course they're all amazing"I like the 6,7,4,3,2,1,5 in that order(by like I mean LUUUVVVVVV)
I've only read the last book once... I starting reading them when the fifth book came out, then I read them all again when the sixth came out, then all again when the last came out. I intend to do the entire series again once they are available in ebook.

@Goran:I have probably read each book at least five times, and the earlier five at least fifteen. I read the fourth one over 40 times. These days, I re-read the entire series about once a year. But do take into account the fact that this is over a number of years...
... AND that I probably read 80-100 books a year. So the entire Harry Potter series would be about 8-10% of my yearly reading. I may have read them a ridiculous amount of times, but I still am very widely read, I believe. I think it is safe to say that most of the other people in this discussion can say the same thing. I think we have the right to enjoy a beloved series as many times as we want, whether or not we choose to read other things, without people like you making sweeping, insulting generalisations about all of us.
Oh, and like VC it has been a while since I've been a teenager, but again, you do seem to be fond of misinformed generalisations.
once, but im waiting till i forget at least partly about what their about so i can re-read them, i hope that time comes soon :)
Like so many others here, I make it a point to reread the series every year. :) It's just one of those books you don't get tired of no matter how many times you read it ...
I've read the first book 11 times (it was a long plane ride), the second book 8 times, books 3-5 seven times, book six 2 times, and I haven't reread the seventh book. This was all before I turned thirteen and I have a gut feeling that if I reread then now it will ruin the childlike wonder I have for the series.
i've read the entire series about 8 or 9 times and backwards about 6 times and each book individually i can't even keep count! i am just so in love with the series i can't stop reading them!
i read the whole series in 5 days since i started reading them in 5th grade (im in 9th now) andi've read all of them 40 times each :)
Goran wrote: "Seriously...why would you read the same thing 20 times? That's bordering on idiocy, sorry."No, you know what 'borders on idiocy'? Trying to make yourself seem superior by insulting others. I mean, really, there are more intelligent, mature ways to get your point across than by calling names.
I also think 20x is a bit excessive for these books, but that's me. Plenty of people read their favorite book/watch a favorite movie over and over and over.
We are, by nature, fairly repetitive - just look at little kids, they'll find a song, movie, or whatever and watch or listen to it hundreds of times. And it's not always something you 'outgrow', most people have hundreds of songs memorized, word perfect because they've listened to them thousands of times. It might not be the most intelligent song out there, but it makes someone happy, so they listen to it again and again.
And assuming that someone has read books of this length that many times, it's probably not a stretch to assume they've read plenty of other things.
Grow up. Your opinion is not fact.

I love the world JK Rowling created and would enjoy spending time there even without Harry!

"A truly great book should be read in youth, again in maturity and once more in old age, as a fine building should be seen by morning light, at noon and by moonlight." — Robertson Davies
Every time a reader picks up a book, they are a different person and therefore interpret the words differently. If a book can impact you, as Harry Potter obviously has for many of us, then it is absolutely worth reading over and over again.
JK Rowling produced a novel that is fluid and alive, and will keep people reading for many years to come.
By the way, I've read each book in the series 3 times each.
Harry Potter is awesome but too twisty to deliver a satisfying ending. I have read it 3 times but each time it leaves me incomplete about something. It is a guilty pleasure to hope for different end result while reading it. I do not think I will read it the 4th time. Have to break the addiction.

Plus I think you can understand things differently, if not better, if you re-read them as an adult. I quite often re-read books that I enjoyed as a child/teenager these days, and I always pick up on so much that I missed.
Probably over 20 times each. The first few books a little more maybe. I used to re-read it every chance I got. Seriously after I finished the last book for the tenth time I would go straight to the first book again. You could call me obsessed, but right now I'm not much of a fan as I used to be, but I still like it
I 've read the first 5 eleven times, the 6th 9 times and the 7th only 4 times... So I read 4 times the entire series but I plan on reading them a lot more times!!!
Jordan wrote: "I have read the series 3 times. I AM OBSESSED!"hahaha, glad to hear it.. but I wouldn't consider you obsessed, quite, compared to some of the other people here! keep at it! :D
Around 20, and sometimes I just go back to the books and read my favourite parts only. And even after 20 times, it still feels like the first time. Harry Potter should be one of the official Wonders of the World. Sometimes, it just seems too good to be true. <3 I'm still waiting for the next book to beat this masterpiece. Unlikely.
