Hi! My name is Anna. I am not a steampunk author (though I -do- write epic fantasy), but THREE delightful friends in my writing group are writing steampunk novels and I find I've become addicted to all those delightful descriptions of gadgets. That ... and the steampunk leather corset I impulse-bought at ARISIA. I was a huge Jules Verne and H.G. Wells fan growing up. I'll just be lurking and learning, probably not say much, just try to absorb something clever to say at our next group critique.

UPDATE 7/29/13: I just scored a vintage illustrated edition of Jules Verne 'Around the World in Eighty Days!' Whoo-hoo! Oh, that beautiful, flowerific Victorian-era vernacular!

Why do you like Steampunk? I love the inventions, and the era, always been in love with everything Victorian. Also, my father owned a tool and die shop, so I grew up around machinery, and the smell of spun steel and heat treat and grease. My father and I also spent hours together inventing and making our own inventions, (many of which I've featured in my up-coming novel LUMIERE) my father was a thinker, so it feels like home to me when I read Steampunk, lol. Hello Miriam! I read a trilogy called The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare. I loved it. In fact, I on't know anyone who's read it and didn't like it. The third book in the series might spoil some things in another series by Casandra Clare called The Mortal Instruments. I haven't read The Mortal Instruments as people did not recommend it to me.
