There was a book I read when I was in the fourth grade or so, maybe older. It's a book of fiction, though I can't rightly remember if it's children or young adult. The book is about a young girl who's part of a circus family and her uncle suffers an accident of some sort...I think...and somehow only she can rescue him. I remember one of the main plot points was that her uncle is a contortionist. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is it possible you're thinking of Figgs & Phantoms by Ellen Raskin? It's been a long time since I've read it, so I'm not sure on all the details, but it does have a circus family and a close niece/uncle relationship.
Though it's also been a while for myself, I'm pretty certain that's the book I'm talking about. I recognize the black and white cover. If by chance it isn't, then I can always just come back here! Thank you SO very much. :)
