Can someone help find a particular book please?
Definitely a good idea for a thread. Thankyou Brenda. I found the book too http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/24...
Awesome! Hope we can help some others out too! Your link shows a different cover to the one I put up in the Melbourne thread...same book tho :)
Okay, I have a book to find! :)It's a children's chapter book, with a picture of a boy pushing a trolley full of bottles on the front cover. The family was working class, kind of struggled with income, and the boy would collect bottles to recycle to make a bit of money. His name was either Jack, Charlie or Tom.
It's a very vague recollection of the story but if you happen to know which book I'm talking about let me know! :)
Hi, I'm looking for a book, theres not a whole lot I know about it though...At the beginning its set in UK woman has a husband and children and they die in a car accident. This sends her a bit crazy and she steals her friends child which she has been trying years to have. she elopes to austraila with the child. they live in Austraila and the woman acts as the childs mother. the crazy woman dies when the child is older. they become a book editor and stumble upon a book later on and she has to travel to the UK.. low and behold the book is about child and they stuble upon the truth? any one? :)
Good luck with that Wendy...the story line sounds a little familiar...I'll have a think on it!

I am very vague about what I remember, and I think the guy lives in Australia, and has to go back to Zimbabwe to 'collect' (?) his inheritance.I thought a book I loved was called 'Letifah's Gift' by Graham ? (I think... It involved an expat going back to Zim after his (?) mothers death, and something about the legacy to the house keeper.. Anybody know which one this could be, as I was hoping to see if the author had written something new.
I am enjoying these helpful threads.
Have you tried the "What's the name of that book" group here on Goodreads. They have 1000's of members and are usually quite good at finding the book you're afterhttps://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

Thanks took the suggestion earlier, and have now joined and posted there..
Thank you for that, I have joined the group too, there's one book I've wondered about for such a long time, and someone might know about it!
I can't believe how quick that group collectively find the answer for you! You just have to post the info you have in the correct spot and follow the instructions. Good luck :)

Hi, I'm trying to find name of a book/author I read some ten years or so ago. I know it was a female, Australian author, either a memoir or biography, but a true story. Three kids were sent off to an orphanage in Australia..probably nsw, when their mother died, or became too ill to look after them at the time. The idea was when things improved, they would return home;that never happened. They were put into tho care of a young nun at (I THINK) Woy Woy station, by their dad who barely looked back as the train departed. One part that stands out, among many in the story was the little boy had a bad fall onto tiled floor at the orphanage..he was sliding down a banister (which was forbidden) and was seriously injured. He did not receive any medical treatment, and so suffered a brain injury, which he had to live with from then on. Be grateful for any help to re discover this book; the author MAY have lived on the Central Coast, but not sure of this. Thanks in advance.
You could ask your question in the group called What's The Name of That Book??? link: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...
Margaret - that book rings a faint bell but I think I would like to read it myself if you ever find it.
Deborah wrote: "Margaret - that book rings a faint bell but I think I would like to read it myself if you ever find it."No worries...will be sure to announce it if I do find it. I am pretty sure I would have got it from the library..I don't own it, and I rarely if ever borrow books from others..it's usually other way around. However , library couldn't help me. Never mind, I cannot be the only person in Australia to have read this book...surely.
B the BookAddict wrote: "You could ask your question in the group called What's The Name of That Book??? link: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/..."Thanks B...think I may have tried that site but didn't get any results, but will check in again to be sure.
Years ago - some time before 1976 - I read a book (yes, who didn't!) that took place in Australia. The protagonist was a young woman, there was romance, and she wandered about looking for her destiny. In part of her journey she worked as a photograph tinter. Does this sound even vaguely familliar.I would love to find this book again.
Thanks

Anybody recall this book? 1990s, maybe 80s? It was an Australian book about kids who go out camping, and stumble upon a reptile poaching set up. It had b&w illusrtrations of blue tongues and the like. I've been dying to re-read it!

does anyone know of a book that is based on an indian girl set in india who gets sold by her family and married at a young age. I think the cover is white with a picture and has the word princess in the title?
Sorry Michelle I can't help you... have you checked with the group that's in the link given? Good luck!
I was scrolling through some books yesterday and for the life of me cannot remember which site or list I was looking at, but I loved the cover of this book which had red roses with stems scattered across the cover. The background was darkish. Most likely literary fiction or something new. I'm too shy to ask the "What was the name of that book" group as its got 32000 members. Has anyone come across this book or recently added something similar to their TBR?
On phone, can’t link properly, but maybe Before We MetEdit - went over to the computer so I could do it properly.

Oh well, it came to mind so it was worth a try.
Mish wrote: "Could it be
or
Ace ?"Thanks Mish, it's not any of those. Probably closest to Life After Life, but smaller roses and more scattered over the page/cover.

I'm glad you mentioned it, it's now on my TBR 😊📚

You know I was wondering if anyone can actually help me. I'm looking for a book I read years ago. And i'm positive it was set in Melbourne. I love books set in Australia but Melbourne is so much different. Can anyone help me? I have no idea what's the name or author but its about a uni student who gets a job taking care of a woman who suffered a stroke. It was such a nice book and i've searched high & low and can't find it anywhere. If anyone knows the name or author or anything. The girl starts to here the woman humming or playing music or something somewhere in the story. And she also begins to see a boy she goes to uni with. Any help would be much appreciated.
