Still a great book, and pleased to have read it. Trotted off and purchased 'Shadow lines'. I plan to read it soon.

I think the movie has either just come out or will be out soon- I have heard advertisements for it on the radio.

It IS most definitely on the list!! Along with The Long Goodbye and Farewell My Lovely which was removed after the 2006 list.

Thanks! I just checked again and it was. I must have missed it when I was looking for it.

Yeah, I thought it might have been included also, Sandi.
Also "All The King's Men" by Doctorow....Oh well, American lit has quite a showing on the list as it is!

I didn't read it specifically because I thought it was on the list, but was definitely surprised when I found that it wasn't. Thought I must have been spelling something wro..."

Correct, none of Wally Lamb's books are on the 1001 lists.

I really thought The Kite Runner WAS on the list. I read it about a year ago, and was sure it was on there. Wonder if it dropped off?

Same here. I just HAVE to believe it was on one of them though....lol. It is not a book that would have interested me and that I would have intentionally chosen to read unless it was on the list. It is not a genre that I particularly care for, although it was a good book. :) I am just stubborn and I guess and must have imagined it. Maybe it was on a copy of the original lists that someone else edited and posted somewhere and that is where I got it. Hmmmmm.....oh well.

I made the same mistake, Rob - really enjoying Blindness, tho!

TMS is well worthy of the 1001 title, which just goes to show the merit in using the list as a guideline rather than the straight and narrow.
