Is that what you've been doing? If not give it a try.
If it is, then there's something odd about how your Ubuntu is interacting with Goodreads.
So this previous month and for the most of this month I has centered most of my reading around lgbt books, (Unintentionally) I readGrasshopper Jungle
Simon vs The Homo sapien agenda
I'll Give you the sun
Parrot fish
More happy than not.
And am currently reading Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the Universe.
I adore Aristotle and Dante. Are you voting for Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda in the Goodreads awards? It's up for both best YA fiction and best Debut author <3

Grasshopper Jungle and I'll Give You the Sun are two of my favorites.
Ari & Dante is slowly working its way to the top of my TBR pile.
More Happy Than Not is also nominated in the YA category of the GR Awards.
Simon vs. jumped my TBR list and is now #2 while I work on 100 Sideways Miles.
Yes - I found over 14 books in the GR awards this year with LGBTQ characters or themes. Enough that some compete with each other :) This is a good problem to have.
I just finished Simon vs. this morning--marathon reading through the night. I think Simon is my spirit animal; asides from the extra-curricular difference (I was in photography, not drama) he behaves so much like me: introverted, yet able to navigate diverse social circles fluidly; the way we listen to music; the family interactions; the way contact lenses make us look (but we can't stand wearing them); I even have the same hoodie/sweater that's shown on the cover. It was like looking into a mirror and having the mirror tell me what my high school experience could have been like.

I'm reading Ari and Dante now. It's a little slower than I thought it was going to be but its really cute.
I recently finished Reasons to Love a Nerd Like Me and The Biggest Scoop. I gave both 5 Stars. If you like Fantasy I really enjoyed The Last Grand Master and The Eye and the Arm (Books 1 & 2 of Champion of the Gods)
Is "The Lightning Struck Heart" okay for YA? Usually TJ has on-page sex in his books (this one's on my TBR list - I know it's humorous fantasy.)
Kaje wrote: "Is "The Lightning Struck Heart" okay for YA? Update: I edited it from the recommendation after going back and looking at some of the reviews. Sorry!
No problem :) Personally I never censored what my own kids read, but I'm more cautious with the policies we have in place for this public group.
Emma wrote: "Just finished Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan. So good!"Love that one. Also love Levithan's Every Day and Two Boys Kissing.
Also love Openly Straight by Bill Konigsberg.
Anybody who's read Will Grayson Will Grayson needs to get "Hold Me Closer: The Tiny Cooper Story" because it's his play. I wish somebody did sheet music for it so I'd have a tune to go off for all the songs.Right now I'm reading This Star Won't Go Out, Esther Earl's (auto)biography. I officially completed my reading challenge this afternoon, so anything from here on will be extra!!

Thanks! I'll have to check those out.

He was the perfect balance to the tortured and dark Will Grayson. Both of them were completely real and lovable in their own ways.
I really enjoyed "Openly Straight" - I'd love a sequel. (I think there might be one planned but I'm not sure.)
Kaje wrote: "I really enjoyed "Openly Straight" - I'd love a sequel. (I think there might be one planned but I'm not sure.)"There is going to be a sequel!
It's called Honestly Ben and will be out in 2016. I loved the first book and can't wait for the second.
I'm stoked to hear about the Openly Straight sequel. That book was my first LGBT read and my path to finding this group so it has some sentimental value. I just finished a marathon reading of Willful Machines. I don't normally like thrillers, but this one had a hook that I could not resist. Philosophy of the Mind mashed with Shakespeare references crossed over a political intrigue plot with a twist bad-guy (it recycles common thriller trope, but there is excellent mis-direction, so I totally missed it).
Next up on my pile is a yaoi/BL manga called Love Stage! I won't link it because I don't know if it has explicit scenes or not (I don't see any content warnings in the reviews, so I think it is safe to mention, but let me know if I need to edit this). Following that will be Carry On.
The manga for Love Stage does get VERY EXPLICIT at times just so you know. The anime was good, but there were parts that are not ya suitable- just so you know!

I finished When Everything Feels Like the Movies by Raziel Reid the other night. A very powerful story!
I'm rereading A Separate Peace. Read it decades ago in high school. So far, it holds up. As a writer, I'm looking at the way it's plotted.
Leah wrote: "I'm rereading A Separate Peace. Read it decades ago in high school. So far, it holds up. As a writer, I'm looking at the way it's plotted."That's a classic.
Just finished Carry On the sequel ish to Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. Features gay and lesbian characters non human in origin.
Darby wrote: "Just finished Carry On the sequel ish to Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. Features gay and lesbian characters non human in origin."That book has been a big award winner this year - definitely on my TBR list. Did you like it?
LORD it was amazing. Sooooo funny too. Read the last 60% in one sitting, tweeted about it, and had Rainbow Rowell favorite it. All in all, a very productive afternoon
I just finished Goddess by Laura Powell the other day. It deals with some mature themes (cult behaviour, date rape drugs/opiates {the only way I can think to describe it}, and celebrity-dom in an alternate history London), but it was good. It's kinda short, but good.
I recently read "Flipping for Him" by Jeff Adams. A sweet, authentic novella in which it is race, not orientation, that becomes the issue--all set against a background of parkour...
I have just finished reading Cori McCarthy's
Breaking Sky
. Unfortunately, for spoilery reasons, I strongly suggest avoiding it.
I recently read About a Girl coming of age story, and f/f historical romance Lies We Tell Ourselves. Both books are YA.Eta Doctor Who: The Twelfth Doctor, Vol. 1: Terrorformer featured a lesbian character.
Darby wrote: "Lies we tell ourselves was super good."Oh yeah, I loved that book! I was so disappointed in Talley's second book, though, What We Left Behind. It was just awful (it claimed that being genderqueer was "just a phase," starred one of the most annoying main characters I've ever read, was ragingly lesbophobic (view spoiler)... the list goes on and on!)
Lies We Tell Ourselves was very, very good, though! And I'm hoping Talley's next book, As I Descended, won't be a disappointment.

I saw reviews for What we left behind, and the book sounds horrible. :(
I didn't know much about it when I picked it up, and I figured it'd be all about the race issues, and then they kissed and I was like "wait what now" Surprise gay book! ^-^

Ok
Well right now I'm reading Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, which is funny and sweet, so far.
Simon vs. was so good. If I could have a do-over of my HS years, I would totally be the photography club version instead of the drama club version of Simon. I just bought a copy of Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe using my survey rewards points, so that's next on my TBR after I finish my Reader's Advisory task list.
Hi, new here!Ehhh... well, I just read More Than This, Tell the Wolves I'm Home and Grasshopper Jungle.
And, funny thing. They're my top 3 from all of the YA LGBT that I have read.
Well, as a stand alone, hahaha.
Anyway, I love them all, the writing was really good and somehow easygoing. And so original, like, I wasn't prepared for the ending in Grasshopper Jungle or in More than this. Usually I find YA book a little bit predictable, so that was a plus.
eh... yeah, hi, and byebye (: (btw, english is not my mothern lenguage)
Bienvenidos a José.I loved Tell the Wolves I'm Home. The author told that story so beautifully, it stole my heart.

Those are great - if you liked "Tell the Wolves" you might also like the Gives Light series, I think. (Not sure why one reminds me of the other, but anyway it's a great series.)
And your English is excellent. I'm so impressed by all the people here on GR reading for pleasure in a second or third language.

I adore Ari and Dante. (There's a sequel coming out, and I'm kind of afraid to read it. Like putting icing on the perfect pastry - could add to the pleasure or smother it.)
