Erik | 97 comments Slogging through a 750-page book about the invasions of Sicily and Italy in World War 2. Then on to One Foot in the Grave to get my damphyr and finish the scavenger hunt

Starcrossed (Starcrossed, #1) by Josephine Angelini I loved this book! I'm a fan of anything that deals with Greek mythology.
Helen is a beautiful but shy girl. The moment she attracts any attention, she starts to panick and feel horrible cramps. She tries to stay under everyones radar. That all changes when the new family moves into town and she tries to kill one of them. Awkward...Suddenly all eyes are on Helen and whether or not she and Lucas will get over their initial hatred of each other and fall in love or die trying...literally.

Kathy | 19 comments Currently reading The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen. My centralpiedmontmommies book club is reading it for the month of april. The librarian at Mt. Pleasant recommended it. So far it is pretty good. It is a nice sweet story so far for summer.

Garden Spell by that same author is really good. I think she has three books out but she got sick so she hasn't written anything else.
I just finished the latest Molly Harper book Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors (Jane Jameson, #4) by Molly Harper and I just love her. She is so fraken funny and I love all the Jane Austen and Jane Eyre references!

Erik | 97 comments Just reread the last two books of Tamora Pierce's Song of the Lioness. Let me just say I read the first two when I was 12 and the second two over 20 years later and they are awesome. Going to have to bump up my ratings for The Woman Who Rides Like a Man and Lioness Rampant. However, the covers on the new editions the library has are just terrible.

message 106: by Erik (new)

Erik | 97 comments Oh, and reading The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner because I'm a masochist and I'm on the waitlist for all the other books I want to read.

Jessica (chey1) | 652 comments Mod
wow, I can't believe you are reading the Bree Tanner book...good luck with that lol
I love Tamora Pierce!

I am currently reading Yours, Mine, and Ours by MaryJanice Davidson by Mary Janice Davidson. I love this series because I honestly laugh out loud. The main character has multiple personalities and works in a special division of the FBI, one that is full of people who belong in the cuckoo's nest.

message 110: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 19 comments Currently reading The Next Always and listening to Clockwork Angel. Clockwork Angel is much better then what I was expecting in the beginning. The Next Always by nora roberts is a little slow at the moment.

Debbie | 62 comments I just got the new Charlaine Harris book Deadlocked. Can't wait to start reading.

Just finished the YA book Into the Wild Nerd Yonder by Julie Halpern. It was about a girl in high school who is not sure what click she belongs in. Her best friends have recently changed and not for the better and she is left trying to figure out who she is. She discovers that being a nerd is not such a bad thing and that D&D is not as horrific as she once thought.

I just finished On the Prowl (The Others, #13) by Christine Warren and I did not like it. The main characters love interest was a a**hat! He was very dismissive and demanding and had a tendency to treat her like a child. I would find myself yelling at the book, demanding that the main character punch him in the face, but she never did. I was very disappointed in this book.

Just finished reading Bear Meets Girl (Pride, #7) by Shelly Laurenston and this romance series continues to make me giggle. This is not a deep thinking book. The characters are all a little...err...psychotically eratic which is why I love them!
I am reading Bitterblue (Graceling Realm, #3) by Kristin Cashore now and I love it! It is the complete opposite of Bear Meets Girl. It is a fantasy about characters who are considered Gracelings, which are people with miss matching eyes who have special abilities. I love this series

Peaches (princesspeaches) | 94 comments Currently reading a couple of free books from amazon. I found my kindle easier to hold, but now Asher's started grabbing for it too. :/ I have a ton of books that have come out to read sitting on my bookshelf. I'll get there one day. Jennifer Estep, Clockwork series, I need to read the newest Cabot book...

message 117: by Angelica (new)

Angelica (willowgirl08) | 2 comments Im reading Mocking Jay, the third book in the hunger games trilogy. So far its pretty good, getting started its pretty slow but just like the second book i hope it picks up quick.

Jessica (chey1) | 652 comments Mod
The new Cabot book was really good :)
I liked Mockingjay...I know a lot of people did not enjoy it, but I liked the emotional upheaval of it

Debbie | 62 comments Just finished Undead and Unstable by Mary Janice Davidson. Disappointed in the book. Not much of a storyline. Going to start Kiss the Dead by Laurell K. Hamilton. Can't wait to see what Anita is up to.

I just finished Royal Street (Sentinels of New Orleans, #1) by Suzanne Johnson and it was pretty decent. It took place in New Orleans right after Katrina. Dru is a wizard searching for the man who raised her who went missing after the storm. She must deal with voodoo, ghostly pirates, murdered national guardsmen, and a hot enforcer along the way.
I felt the story was a little too...detailed in some parts, making it a little monotonous. Don't get me wrong though, I will still read the next book in this series when it comes out.

message 122: by LaNita (new)

LaNita (lanita_lynn) I am currently reading "Blood Lines" from The Blood Books (Volume 2) by Tanya Huff. If you ever watched Blood Ties on Lifetime, that tv show is based on these books. It was one of my favorite shows! The books are great also!

message 123: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (chey1) | 652 comments Mod
I liked the Tanya Huff books-defintely different from the show

Just finished A Sliver of Shadow (Abby Sinclair, #2) by Allison Pang and I love this series. It has hot incubuses and elves, trying to earn the love of one goofy girl who loves to throw in Lord of the Ring references. Oh, and there is a pervy unicorn who likes to roll around in ladies underwear.

message 125: by Peaches (new)

Peaches (princesspeaches) | 94 comments Does the library have these? You told me about this series before and I need to read it. Even if it does kill my childhood obsession with unicorns.

Peaches (princesspeaches) | 94 comments Which reminds me, I have to bring my child who reads 30 books a week to the library. I don't think there are enough books to keep up with her.

message 130: by Jessica (new)

At least she takes after a certain someone...and you are the winner! The book should be at the library either tomorrow or Thursday, I will let you know!

message 132: by Peaches (new)

Peaches (princesspeaches) | 94 comments I finally had the chance to read it and while it was a bit slow after the initial rush, it picked up and I can honestly say liked it. I am really interested in more of the mythology she's going with.

Erik | 97 comments Rewatched The Lord of the Rings movies, so decided to reread the books. Up next is Turing's Cathedral: The Origins of the Digital Universe, although I haven't had much luck with books recommended on NPR.

Finished the book Seraph Seraphina (Seraphina, #1) by Rachel Hartman . It was great! I found it to be a very well written fantasy about dragons!

message 139: by Debbie (new)

Debbie | 62 comments I'm starting Jacob by Jacquelyn Frank. It's a new series for me. Is this series any good or am I wasting my time?

message 140: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (chey1) | 652 comments Mod
Frank is really popular. I could not get into her though. I think I will give her another shot though.

She's a best seller, I'm just not sure who exactly is reading her lol I am reading Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews and it is great! I was hesitant at first, because it's about Andrea instead of Kate but it is rocking my socks off so far.

message 143: by Debbie (new)

Debbie | 62 comments I gave up on Jacob. Just couldn't get into it. I'm waiting for the library to get Gunmetal Magic. Love Ilona Andrews books. Also waiting on Biting Cold by Chloe Neill.

I blame Twilight and Fifty Shades for the fact that a lot of books are coming out with weak women and domineering men. I don't mind my paranormal guys to be a little arogant but I want the females to be the type who punch the guy in the nose when he starts dictating how she lives her life. I'm reading Julie Garwoods latest book and the guy makes out with the character and then ignores her and then comes back, demanding that she does what he says. I just get so aggravated. I will stick with my alpha females, thank you!
