I'm an old-school dude (the throwback unis always get me excited). I've watched with dismay over the last decade as black has become a new and dominant color. I saw those Rose Bowl unis this morning and thought, "Wow, it looks like conceptual art from a Hawkman movie."
All that being said, I actually like how the wings on the jersey look like leather armor or something. The helmet graphic is bit much for me, though.
Bottom line: I don't care if they wear Wonder Woman outfits, as long as they win next week. :)
Oh, and...get off my lawn.

I can't believe 8,000 people haven't already had this idea and published novels and made TV shows by the dozen exploring this extremely thin theme!

Show notes!*If I could be said to have a favorite French author (it's a stretch), it'd be Alexandre Dumas. But there is one soapy French novel I've read multiple times (in English): Les Liaisons Dangereuses by -- deep breath -- General Pierre Ambroise Francois Choderlos de Laclos. You've prolly seen the Malkovich/Close/Pfeiffer film. Great stuff.
*Infinite Kung Fu is one of the Christmas gift books on my Regina pile, as are Winshluss's Pinocchio (such a gorgeous book!!!) and Pyongyang. Just haven't gotten to 'em yet.
*I'm with Jason -- read most of Stephen King's work as it was coming out back in the '70's and 80's. Last one I read was Dolores Claiborne, which was published in 1993. Exception: I did buy his crime novel The Colorado Kid from Hard Case Crime for a buck a few years back; never did finish reading it though.
*I've also read everything by Hammett and Chandler that I could get my hands on. All Chuck Palahniuk except for his last two, Tell-All and Damned. Mortifyingly, I had also read all of Patricia Cornwell's books until nine years ago, when I finally copped to the fact that she was writing the same fucking story over and over... and it really wasn't that good. Slow learner, me.

Dave and Matt get hopped up on bennies and cruise, uninterrupted by that other guy, through a host of topics including Mark Frost, guilty pleasures/genre fiction (celebrity memoirs; The Shadow in pulps, radio and comics; Dave's deep and abiding hatred for sweeping fantasy epics; Allan Quartermain novels and more), Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights, Native Son by Richard Wright and its ability to separate Dave from his socks, the appalling lack of progress humanity has made over the last 500 years, "The Zoo Story" by Edward Albee, and more.
Shadow talk! I just got The Shadow Hitler's Astrologer last year -- written by Denny O'Neil, BTW, and yes, it was a "Marvel Graphic Novel." The book looks beautiful, but the story's just not Shadowy enough.And I too loved the Helfer/Sienkiewicz/Baker series. When the topic of "What comic series would you resurrect" comes up, I always go with this one. I need Andy Helfer to write the final arc, so I can find out what becomes of the Shadow's robot body.
And if you haven't already, please, please watch A Man for All Seasons, Paul Scofield's tour de force portrayal of Sir Thomas More. Highest possible recommendation.
I love how stoked Dave gets about everything he's reading. Wish I had his enthusiasm and his speed-reading abilities.

That one's been on my to-watch list for a looooong time. You're right, now would be the perfect time to get on it.

Nah, I'm actually on the slowish-to-average side as a reader. I think I just have a lot more free time than most people because I never leave my house. :)
I do get pretty passionate about, well, everything really, but reading in particular. The number of dusty, moldy old volumes that have fundamentally changed the way in which I view the world is uncountable.

Happy first anniversary, B-Boys! Loved this show, and I now really regret not reading The Heart is a Lonely Hunter. Maybe someday....Matt, I read Pay it Forward (in italics because I refuse to unwittingly direct readers to the book's Goodreads page). I despised that novel so much that I've never considered seeing the movie. I do envy folks who only saw the film since they only wasted two hours of their lives.
Jason, we'll miss ya. I believe we all aspire to going out on top -- congratulations on livin' the dream.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to bone up on Azerbaijani authors and novels containing marmots..... just in case it comes up.
