This is a good song for you splitter! LOL
I like me some country for sure!!!
Not too big on Rock n Roll. But some of the old stuff like Katy mentioned was good. I like Aerosmith too and Queen. LOL
Mostly, I stick with country tho.
that's the way I roll.

Ten Inch Record was our party song in highschool lol. As a matter of fact, the whole toys in the Attic (TAPE!) was an album heard at nearly every party along with Led Zepplin IV.

Queen was AWESOME! Very eclectic.

Cambria (cambria409) | 3305 comments Yeah, Queen was a goodie. My Dad used to listen to it when i was growing up! LOL. So it has some fond memeories for me.

OK, you are not helping with the "feeling old" thing lol.

"Yeah, my dad liked that music too...."

Along those same lines, I pulled a muscle sneezing this morning.

Katy (katyas-69) | 603 comments Cambria wrote: "Yeah, Queen was a goodie. My Dad used to listen to it when i was growing up! LOL. So it has some fond memeories for me."

I grew up listening to my dad's old cowboy music (Sons of the Pioneers, etc.) and my brother's 70s rock (Sweet) and other random things (Beach Boys, Simon & Garfunkle). I just can't stand modern country, though - the whole attitude pisses me off. I was forced to listen to some one day and heard several songs along the lines of "I got's me a good woman but I sleep around on her anyway" ... it made me sick. I'd rather have screaming guitars and lots of screaming in general ... :-)

message 557: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 603 comments My husband told me a good joke earlier this morning. Imagine:
a small village, one woman, 100 men. The men swarm around the woman, pampering her, and catering to her every whim. One walks in with a glass of wine on a tray, trips and spills the wine. The woman looks at him icily and says "What number are you?"
"16" responds the unfortunate man.
"Well, now you're 37!"
OK, now imagine the same small village, but the roles reversed - 1 man, 100 women.
The man is up a tree ... the women all around, patiently waiting him out ...

message 558: by C.S. Splitter (new)

C.S. Splitter | 979 comments You know what happens when you play a country song backwards, don't yeah?

Your woman comes home, your dog comes back to life, and your pickup truck isn't wrecked anymore...

Anyway.

I like country because the songs usually tell some sort of story. If there is any emotion left in music these days, country is where you'll find it. The best looking women too :)

Some of it is just awful but much is either fun or heartfelt. And, yes, pop music passed me by in 1991. Lol

Splitter

message 559: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 603 comments Well, pop music .. yeah, I haven't willingly listened to pop music since the 1980s. I liked grunge and alternative, though - 1993 and 1998 both had some really good music come out. Now I listen to a "commercial-free rock" station out of Athens, here, that plays a great mix of old and new, rock, alternative, world beats, etc. I really like it, but it has a weak signal, and it right next door on the dial to a couple other stations, so it is a bit tricky to tune in on an analog dial.

message 560: by Cambria (new)

Cambria (cambria409) | 3305 comments I like that idea Splitter, the next time i have a bad day i am going to play a country song backwards. lol

Are you SERIOUS, Cambria?? LiveJournal was the ORIGINAL blog! *sighs* Goddess, I feel old and it hasn't even been that LONG ... Hehe.

If you look at the complete list of my entries, you'll see I've had an account for a few years now ... and I was slow to join up. Like many other sites, it went through a Renaissance where everyone wanted to join up, then blogger or whatever came along and everyone left for the newer, "better" thing.

I didn't hear his speech because I was busy dealing with some other drama, but I did have dinner with him afterward. haha He drove all the way here right before his speaking engagement, and somehow we convinced him to stay the night rather than driving right back.

message 572: by C.S. Splitter (new)

C.S. Splitter | 979 comments Every time my wife dreams about me, I do something stupid in the dream and she wakes up mad at me. Like, "I'm not talking to you!" mad for an hour after she wakes up.

It's awkward but peaceful.

BTW, Dream Splitter has a LOT more fun and adventure than Real Splitter.

C.S. Splitter | 979 comments If I ever become a rich, successful writer and can do away withe the trappings of business, I'm going for the John Travolta from "Michael" look.

And if I could find that scene of him dancing in the bar I would post it lol

"Michael" was from the ... 1990s? I think? Anyway, it certainly wasn't one of "those" movies that only us old-timers would know about ... in fact, IIRC, it was right around the same time as "Phenomenon" - right? Gah - stupid fibro, messing up my memory ...

I've never actually seen the movie, although I knew about it - that IS a sexy look he has going there. Love the jacket ... and the hair ... Dmitry's hair gets like that when it's longer and he manages to brush the crazy curls (which I also like) out of it. He has developed a tendency to keep it shorter, though, 'cause it gets ratted up. It got literally ratted up when we had rats, 'cause they liked to hide in it, and would sometimes get all tangled up in there ... LOL

Umm ... what was I talking about? I think I need to try to sleep again ...

Cassie McCown (cassie629) | 713 comments I also remember a part of that dream where my bedroom was actually in a closet, and I literally felt like I was having a panic attack (I am extremely claustrophobic)...like where it feels SO real... My husband apparently didn't hear anything, so I must not have been freaking out in my sleep. There were two other men involved, but as far as I can remember, they weren't anyone I really know. And considering what was going on, I probably wouldn't share their identities anyway...LOL... :-)

I LOVE JT and the movie Michael!

We all need to get together and watch old movies!!!

message 593: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (greeneyez2012) ok so I have two posts for this group but i will do the funny first.
I had a dream last night that Amy and Cam decided to take Creative Reviews even further and make it a publishing company.
Creative publishing, Amy wasn't only a member, she was the PRESIDENT!
Cam was in charge of merchandising, Cassie in charge of damn, what's that word for gettin the public....public relations, that's it.
Splitter was in charge of dealing with the more "eccentric" writers cause he was the only one who could deal with it.
Phil's job was to fire people and Katy, well Katie was a reviewer.
What did I do? I was a gopher. (thanks for that Amy).
Splitter decided to "cut me a break and let me be in charge of getting a new manuscript from one of his more secretive clients.
I was elated!
This dude came in all in big ol boots, duster jacket, hat and sunglasses.
All he needed was those damn motorcycle goggles and he would have looked totally dystopian.
Anyways, well he wanted to see Splitter as well but wanted me to talk to him as we walked back.
I recognized the voice but couldn't make it out.
The longer we walked (Amy made long hallways cause Cambria complained it was the only time she would get to exercise) he would take off a different part of his get up.
It was Bruce freaking Willis.
So, I totally have a crush on this guy in real life!
Turns out Splitter was not only trying to play match maker but I guess Ol Bruce was a real diva to work with and he was hoping I could calm him down and make him easier to work with.
Phil came around the corner and saw us talking and said," I don't give a good god damn who you are, you WILL take those dirty boots off in this building." (I think Phil was from Tx in my dream)
Bruce did as he was told, we couldn't find Splitter, went to find Amy and she wasn't there either so we just talked in her office.
Just when he was about to kiss me, I woke up.....sigh
